  1. @fanaticV3.0 Let me slow it down for you a bit. When..... You..... Are..... In.... A.... Situation.... Of..... Need..... You.... Must... Sacrifice..... A.... Commodity..... to.... get.... one.... In.... Return.... This is what I suggested when I said trade Schenn or VLC to get a decent winger for Giroux's line. And furthermore, a NMC does not mean the contract cannot be traded if the said name player would like a change of scenery too.
  2. @murraycraven "I have suggested dangling the schenn bothers as well" Don't bother trying to inject logic into the conversation MC. Some here think that trading Laughton will net a high caliber winger to play with Giroux. Or just dump all our prospects for that matter to right the ship. I'd swear I was talking to Bobby F****** Clarke. Not mentioning any names cough cough ....Fanatic....
  3. @fanaticV3.0 No problem Paul Holmgren.

  5. @fanaticV3.0 I do not want to trade Schenn, but to get a top winger for Giroux you have to give to get. Right now the #22 Schenn is lost in the sauce and may not find his way here. To package him may be the only way to get value in return. Again, from my fantasy standpoint, if a team would take VLC and #22 for a decent winger that can help the Flyers top line be an actual threat than I am all for it. However, most teams would want #10 Schenn before VLC. Not that VLC is chopped meat, he is getting older, injured, and his contract goes out too far. I am not hating on the guy (#10) and I see his value, that's why I put out a "realistic" trade idea.
  6. @brelic "o me, moving Brayden Schenn would be repeating the same mistake we made when we moved JVR." 100% agree and #10 Schenn should not be moved, but the way Holmgren probably sees it, he is being utilized incorrectly therefore expendable. I would instantly hate that trade. VLC has too long of a contract, but just doesn't fit the make up of this team at all. If they can move him, I would in a heartbeat. I think by top winger, they are going to have to scour the scouting department a little. Maybe not so much as a household name, but a Ville Leino 2.0 (circa 2010) type player that can hang on the top line and fill the void that Giroux is missing. I'd keep Voracek, but move him down to the second line. "I wouldn't be surprised to see the Flyers waste resources to get a guy like Erat. " 100% agree and I was thinking the same thing.
  7. @brelic They need a solid 1st line winger for Giroux, plain and simple....I don't know how or what they will offer to get that piece of the puzzle. With VLC here for a while, I'd be inclined to dangle the Schenn brothers and see what they can return. #22 is a train wreck and #10 is not being used properly. I'd like to keep #10 and move VLC and #22 to see what that could net, but sadly not too many takers out there. I agree a move is brewing in the air.
  8. @ruxpin Not too sure, especially when Spelman, Howard and Morehouse have a much better track record of getting into the NHL. Between him and Johnny Vermont, I am still scratching my head....
  9. @jammer2 Not too sure. I was mainly joking around with my posts. However, I did see Nick play twice and I wasn't overly impressed. Not even mildly. The dude had a following though. In all honesty though I saw him play as a sophomore and again as a Jr. He looks like a college player that will not play after college. Now that pops is gone, he'll have to blow the doors off to beat out Morin, Haag and Ghost.
  10. @delcofan "Holmgren is ALWAYS wasting his sixth round picks" Damn Right he is. We could have had an offensive juggernaut like Mark Stone with that pick... SMH. That is probably why Luukko resigned. After forcing Holmgren to take his kid with such a valuable pick, he couldn't handle the pressure of knowing that the offense may never be figured out and skipped town. At least that is the scuttlebutt that I am hearing from the parking lot attendants at the WFC.
  11. I've seen Nick play a few times when UVM was playing the the WFC- Pete can take his kid with him...
  12. @EightyEight "Sounds like you were talking about Subban instead of Joni." You must have missed the 2006-07 season lol "I said it before, Read and Simmonds should switch lines. Read is much more of a gifted scorer and IMO is a 2nd line player." Why on earth would you want to break that line apart. That is the brightest spot on offense right now. I'd make their line the second line and make Giroux's the 3rd line.
  13. Joni "Booger" Pitkanen is the biggest piece of crap I ever remember donning the Flying P, and that says a lot. I remember the hype like it was yesterday and I remember his first two seasons and being beyond excited. Then the true player arrived to the 2006-07 season. If I recall correctly, he would streak down the left side, take a shot from behind the net at an impossible angle, miss the net, be caught deep and cause an odd man counter rush. He would gas his forwards due to having to play both forward and defense while he was on the ice. Lastly, to me, his offensive productivity could never justify his career -8. Top that with he has missed half of last season and all of this season, I say NO WAY, not unless they'll (Carolina) can resign him to a league minimum contract and trade him and their 1st for Scott Hartnell, but that wouldn't make sense, so let's stay with the no side of the equation. One of the happiest memories as a Flyers fan is when they traded him to Edmonton.
  14. @DaGreatGazoo "Regarding that plate of crow..I'll take mine." Me too
  15. Just wanted to re-bump this thread for all of you that seemed to acquire amnesia in the last few days..... http://www.hockeyforums.net/index.php/topic/60384-downie-is-back/
  16. @radoran It was so ninja that I didn't even see the ninja......Now that is ninja
  17. @radoran I think you missed the inside the joke. Please refer back to your philly.com 101 manual for further clarification.....
  18. Couturier has no value to this team? Next I am going start reading how a faceoff specialist is equivalent to a long snapper in football.
  19. The text probably said: "Don't worry Giroux, before your new contract kicks in, they'll trade you to a contender."
  20. @flyersfan83 Wait good teams like the Red Wings who just lost seven in a row and only have one more regulation win over the Flyers? Yeah, they're tearing it up. I get what you are saying, but what we are witnessing on the ice is a vast improvement over last season and the earlier part of this season. However, I do think Berube's strategy is the lull the other team to sleep and then pounce on them while they are deep in slumber. If they can get points in the next 4 of 6 remaining in December, they will certainly climb into a playoff spot and at that point the slate should be pretty much clean.
  21. @Samifan "When was the last time we had a tough fighter around?" I don't think since 19-83....
  22. Edmonton Oilers...Unless they are part of the eight teams that he will not play for.
  23. @ruxpin "Maybe a toughfighter" caught that one.
