OccamsRazor
I know missing games is big but one thing that always bug me about Nolan Patrick is he wasn't a great skater....i was expecting more....just found it shocking even before missing 600 days... He has some good wingers in Vegas he got zero excuses to not put up points. I can't wait till they play each other. Should be a good one.
OccamsRazor
Hmmmm what might have been. @mojo1917 I think i like Ellis's game more.
mojo1917
@OccamsRazor I am pleased with Ellis also. I wouldn't put Schimdt in that top pairing role, He'd be in the Ristolainen spot if I were calling the shots. I wonder had this happened though, what other dominoes may have fallen and in which directions. Do the Flyers really go hard for Hamilton etcetera. Even does removing the surly influence of Nolan Patrick help Konecny for the last part of the season. They're buds and all and I can't help but think NP's attitude had a ripple effect on some of the younger players. I'm good with the changes made. The team should be more difficult to play against and therefore more fun to watch.

And Nate plays left side, correct? He's left-handed but I'm not sure which side he plays. I think that would have forced more moves. Even if he's right side, I think I prefer Ellis.

Philly missed out on NOTHING ending up with Ellis over Schmidt for giving up Nolan Patrick. Schmidt is a good defenseman, but the kind you add to compliment your solid defensive core already...NOT the kind you put the bulk of responsibility on. Ellis is more of a difference maker, CAN take on the bigger burdens of team defense, and his numbers are better almost across the board compared to Schmidt's going back several seasons...even WITH time missed due to injury. Flyers got the correct defenseman for trading away Patrick if we are comparing Ellis and Schmidt. 4

But Schmidt in Sanheim's role made me pause. Schmidt and Riskolenien as a 2nd pair. Nah let's see how this goes. Two years to get a further look at Travis and decide if it is time to move on as well.
