Howie58
Greetings: Once again, the bookies show us no love (+105) despite the Blues losing six straight. If D wins games, we get the W. https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/stl-vs-phi/2022/11/08/2022020199 It looks like Gress versus Hart. This would be a good start for Sandstrom to test the theory that he's been hamstrung as the starter on the second of back-to-backs. I hope this isn't a trap game. BTW, Torts was pretty pointed in his criticism of Risto in his post-practice presser on Monday.
GrittyForever
St. Louis already looked a little tired tonight playing Boston. They should be even more downtrodden tomorrow. I'd say it makes things just about even.
Howie58
The sportsbooks' lack of respect is interesting in this game. They are 3-6 and we are 6-3, and still picked as underdog, albeit by a smidgeon. The "smart money" must think we are smoke and mirrors. I assume they're expecting Carter Hart will implode. Maybe if the Flyers would play more in the offensive zone, give him more goal support he wouldn't have to carry a .940+ to get wins. It's good to see them "protecting the house" and not letting teams run over them. That alone is a huge change from last year. It may not be sustainable w/out some better offense, time of possession etc. but it's still a good sign.

To some extent maybe, but I think it more likely they just figure at some point St. Louis has to snap out of the losing streak because they should be better than this. Too good of a team to keep losing, or so the "experts" would say. So far that Kyrou contract isn't working out for them that's for sure. He's looking to give Jeff Skinner a run for most overpaid player in the league.

Howie58
Well, a little offensive creativity pays off. Sandstrom looks solid.
OccamsRazor
A win is a win. Finally gave Sandstrom some help. Torts has them skating and working. Still can't watch them for long. Maybe by 2023.

Howie58
Torts said it in the presser--team concept. Best game in ages. Happy for Sandstrom. On to Columbus.
GrittyForever
Good to see Sandstrom get the monkey off his back and win one. excellent win top to bottom. won the fights too. That might be the first game where we actually were the better team and didn't need above average goaltending to steal a win. Even Risto looked okay. Howie58
Tonight's play made me think about lineup changes if and when Atkinson and others make it back to the lineup. I'd rather see Sedlak than JVR. Brink....will he be ready by year's end?
Cheesesteak
First game I've watched in some time that was actually enjoyable. That tic-tac-toe 3rd goal at the end of the second period was a beauty. way to go Flyers. well, I did hear JJ say at the end of the game that the Blues had lost 8 in a row soooooo Edited November 9, 2022 by Cheesesteak
