Season ending knee surgery for the Canes forward.

Bad news for the Canes playoffs.

Yeah tough break for them.  Could severely impact them for the start of next season too.  Most ACL injuries could take at a minimum of 9 months.  Svechnikov may not be back until after Christmas next season.

I was very unimpressed with the Cane's deadline before this even, last year The offense rn on fumes in the playoffs and with the rest of the east getting beastlier they did very little, adding ghost and puljujarvi. Honestly this probably just finished them off.

You know, I thought about making you an offer for Svechnikov in NAHANA.   I wonder if my gift has reached the stage where I just have to think about it.

You know, I swear my fantasy hockey account is kind of like Facebook.

I just think it and its algorithm instantly throw a bunch of related crap in my face.

Fore sure a big hole for the Canes to fill, but, I really don't think it's all doom n gloom for this team.

Even with Svech, the Canes weren't exactly a prolific scoring team. The win their games more with grit, stingy defense, good goaltending, and an overall team effort, Lines 1-4, Defense pairs 1-3.
That isn't going to change. The team has essentially played close and/or low scoring games, to great success all year.

Over in the West, the Minnesota Wild are where they are (currently 2nd in the Central, with a shot to catch Dallas for the top spot) by doing this very thing....playing a complete team game, despite being offensively challenged.
I think the Canes are better equipped than Minnesota is to sustain this, and the Wild are doing pretty well with it.

Also, Carolina has some guys who could surprise, guys who have been underperforming all year, who now will get an uptick in minutes due to the huge void left behind by Svechnikov.
Talking about guys like Puljujarvi, Kotkaniemi, Teravainen, and Jesper Fast.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for Carolina. Plenty still to get the job done and make a deep run.
