Vanflyer Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 .....reminder. Puck drops 5PM EST Friday. http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/icehockey-men/d1 If anyone has a good source for a stream, I would appreciate it. Union v. BC up first. P.S. Nice editorial about Union via NHL.Com: //www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=713496&navid=nhl:topheads Lets go Dutchmen / Ghost!!!
flyercanuck Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Anyone who watches please give us detailed scouting reports on Mr. Gostisbehere.
DaGreatGazoo Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I will be there!!! I will post a 1st hand report on the Ghost. Probably not until tomorrow, however. Look for me. I'll be the little green guy running around with an enormous Rum and Coke in my hand.

DaGreatGazoo Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Well, boys...after spending the entire game pretty much watching Ghost, I can tell you he is the real deal. Great skating ability, exceptionally smooth strides, quick acceleration and very fast. He ALWAYS has his head up, which I love. Always looking to move the puck forward. He had 2 assists, and for those that missed it, the 2nd was a cannon one-timer from the point that was deflected. He's not big, as we all know, but I don't think he looked small--average size for a college kid. One thing I've noticed about Ghost is that he's not afraid to take a hit to make a play, which is good. At the same time, he takes some pretty hard hits due to his average size. Not an issue at this level. He's definitely the type of D-man the Flyers are needing from what I saw. Great passing ability, sees the ice very well, and can acutally get his shot through from the point. Obviously, how well it translates to the NHL remains to be seen. But it's easy to see why people rave about him. Bodie--Union's Captain--is another nice player and stood out to me. However, I know nothing about him.Be interesting to see how Ghost plays vs Minnesota. Their game vs UND was very physical. They take the body every chance they get. Gaudearu on the other hand looks small (IS small)...but is disgustingly good. :-)
flyercanuck Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 @DaGreatGazoo I hope that Gostisbehere can bulk up a little bit, and play with a big man (hopefully Morin one day) they could make a good pairing. At the very least he sounds like he could be a 3rd pairing pp specialist. Thanks for the update, keep em coming!

I watched it online (in large part with @hf01). Are you going to the championship today?
DaGreatGazoo Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 @Vanflyer Yep, stayed to watch the Sioux/Gophers...what a game!! Best ending to a sporting event I've ever seen "live". Championship is Saturday, 7:30 EST...we will be there!

Thanks for the update, keep em coming! You bring up a good point, and one I forgot to mention; Maybe it was the matchup, but Ghost seemed to play the 2nd PP unit most of the night-which surprised me a bit. And I agree about the bulk...he looks like he has room to add some pounds. I'm thinking if he can get to 190-195, he may be good. I thought I read he's almost 180 now, but I can't find it anywhere.
flyercanuck Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 @DaGreatGazoo 2nd pp does sound weird. As one of the highly touted Dmen in NCAA you'd think he'd be out there the entire pp.
OccamsRazor Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 The title is slightly wrong it's the Frozen Four for hockey....oh well who cares right. Go North Dakota!!!!!!!!!!! Game is on right now on ESPN!!! Providence vs. Nebraska-Omaha North Dakota takes on BU at 8:30 on ESPN
JackStraw Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Of course Eichel puts BU up 1-0. Nice backhand.
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 @JackStraw HAH! Almost a nonchalant back hander huh? He looks faster now than he did at the World Jr's.....maybe the competition is a little less fast, who knows, but I'm really impressed so far.... Just a FYI for Canadian fans....this game and tourny are broadcast on TSN2 through all of Canada if you are interested....
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Really looks like this Hickey kid as a nice future ahead of him, nice 2 way defender...think he's a Flames pick...
JackStraw Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 BU is pretty much dominating and Eichel is the best player on the ice. I haven't even heard them mention Parks, have you noticed him?
AJgoal Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Parks had a nice wrap around feed. I don't know the players' numbers, so it's been hard to follow.
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 @JackStraw I noticed him a few times, but yeah, kinda invisible in this game, I'm gonna try to make an effort to find him and watch his shifts in the next few periods, you don't get chances like this to watch NCAA teams (at least for me) and I'd love to get a better read on just what kind of a prospect Parks is.

I haven't watched it as much as I should have though.
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Hah, the start of this thread threw me off, we couldn't make a brand new frozen 4 for this years contests?
AJgoal Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 lol. Hey Jammer, I asked in the shoutbox, but what's the gamefeed site you were using? I couldn't find the thread you were talking about it in.
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 @AJgoal I'm just watching this on TSN....but I subscribe to hockeystreams.com....I really recommend it, an awesome service with TONS of non-NHL action...they cover literally every pro and junior league you could think of...including a lot of Euro teams....I can watch any Flyer pick during any time..and it's all saved ie DVR'ed so you can go back and watch a game, or a whole season of any player....worth it's weight in gold I tell ya!! Best 100 bucks I've ever spent....
AJgoal Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Wow. Nice one timer by Greer off the Eichel feed after ND had been carrying the play forever.
jammer2 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 @AJgoal I would even pull the trigger before that if it was me. Think about it, during the summer, unlimited hockey....all kinds of chances to watch previous Flyer picks...a chance to see the prospects for this years draft up close and personal before the draft...and a chance to see who the Flyers select in the coming draft. I fully expect to watch most of the season of whoever the Flyers secect at #7....this is gonna be my first summer with this service, and I'm really looking forward to it!!!
