Ghost, Voracek, next year's 1st, this year's 2nd for Pietrangelo and Tarasenko.

I would do that. But you might have to throw a prospect still in there.

Ghost, Voracek, next year's 1st, this year's 2nd and NAK for Pietrangelo and Tarasenko.

I think maybe your trade works if the Flyers add a prospect ?  Peitrangelo is the best player in the deal, but Ghost is damn good and so is Voracek, from a change things up perspective it is intriguing, what would compel St Louis to make that deal though ?

I guess, as you say, to change things up?

Why have both AP and VT been rumoured in trades? I'm guessing STL wants to shake up the core, and the Flyers want to do the same.

Not sure we'd be the best trading partners, but the salaries are a wash, the Blues get a 1st rounder, and dont' have to worry about resigning AP after next season.

No thank you. I wouldn't have done @brelic's version either.

Holmgren, get off OR's computer. You're not fooling anyone.

Pervs!

Lol, I was posting from my phone on the bus and didn't see the auto correct.  "Good stuff"

So, did they? How did #17 play? I missed the whole game pretty much..

This line of Patrick, Simmonds and Laughton...is pretty decent.  Those guys battled, and they cycled the Jets pretty hard especially from the end of the 1st to the end of the game. There weren't a ton of chances generated but there was enough for me to think that group was pretty effective.  They were hard to play against especially through the NZ. I don't think Simmonds was ZOMG ! we've gotta have him good, but that line most resembled a Jets style line and like I said they were pretty fun to watch.

Wait. You of all people missed a game between the Flyers and the Jets?

That makes me sad.

I didn't see it because I was driving (shocker).  But on the radio he sounded like he had a decent game, though several unforced turnovers.  Keep in mind that Steve Coates is on the radio so there's no telling how many he'd imbibed.

Yeah. I agree. The only caveat being that Patrick has to stop with the stupid penalties.

And a shooter tutor could be helpful.

Right?

I had a good excuse at least. It's not like I was watching curling instead of Flyers vs Jets.

@OccamsRazor

This is a gross overpayment. They're already getting younger from Pietr to Ghost and a more manageable salary.

Voracek is two years older but actually has more points than Tarasenko over the last three seasons.  I realize Tarasenko is more of a shooter and scores more. Tarasenko makes a little less than Voracek, but that difference is offset by Pietrangelo's cap hit vs  Ghost's (and the fact Ghost is signed for awhile at a very manageable amount).  The package just does not justify the picks and prospect.

At all.  Objectively, it's a wash. Given that Armstrong gave up a first round pick for fricken Brayden Schenn, the picks should be coming the opposite way (kidding on this part. Or am I?)

Well the "slash" was simply a case of him being bigger and stronger than the player he was separating from the puck.

In a game where the refs did a decent job "letting them play" i thought that call was weak, Jonesy on the replay was " well  you see X's stick being removed from his hands and that's enough i guess" .

Yeah, that's today's reffing summed up: see a stick fall out of buddy's hands, it's a slash. Never mind that for 100+ years the game of hockey has allowed you to check the other player's stick as the principal means of getting, you know, the friggin' puck!!

The reason I initially included picks is because Ghost is a one-dimensional defenseman. So although he's got a very friendly deal and it plugs a hole left by AP, he's really a 2nd pairing guy and PP specialist (this year notwithstanding).

And Tarasenko is younger.

So maybe Ghost, VOracek and next year's 1st is enough?

Ok so let's hear your proposal for these two then.

I will respond more once I get back home from the gym.

Or are you saying you don't want to trade for these two regardless?

Asking for a friend.

I honestly don't think any first rounder would be necessary.

I'm no fan of Shattenkirk (at all), but I'm struggling to think what Pietrangelo has actually done since Shatty is gone.

I'd think about the deal straight up.   They're not getting any picks higher than a 3rd round, and I'm only doing that begrudgingly.  I think we have proximity bias.  Negative in proximity and exaggerated at a distance.   I'm no fan of Voracek and think he's dumber than Frosted Mini Crap.  But objectively, I don't think Pietr/Tarasenko for Ghost/Voracek warrants picks involved.

No, I'm clearly saying the picks/prospect is gross over-payment.

Straight up.  Ghost/Voracek for Pietr/Tarasenko.  If I absolutely must, I throw in a 3rd round pick, but more than likely I walk away if they don't want to do it without picks.

Because what, exactly, have Pietr and Tarasenko done in St. Louis that Ghost and Voracek haven't done here?  Asking for a friend.

Seriously, I'm not against it straight up.  It shakes up both squads, which is seemingly what each front office is looking to do.  But there's really no need for the picks.  All things considered, it's a fairly even swap.  And certainly not a gap that requires adding a first, second, and potential NHL-level prospect to it.  Or even just a first.

I only have a friend if I hold my hand in front of a light just right and look on the wall.

So, my friend is a rabbit.  Don't judge.

Speaking of pen pals, where'd @JackStraw go.  Did he abandon us for The Process?

No kidding. I hope he's well. This place is not the same without him.  Do we know if he's even looked in on us, if only for a wee minute?
