  1. Perhaps this is some more of your patented sarcasm, but I don't get the impression Danny goes off half-cocked now that he can't slash a bitch. I think the timing of the decision will play a big part of what is going to happen. I don't think he's contacting Pat Brisson about Stammer's interest- without knowing Michkov is in the US. He hasn't acted like that yet.
  2. @OccamsRazor I even knew that, i was looking at Guentzel and Teravainen and those ages stuck. Aging...sheesh.
  3. In typical Flyers fashion, nothing can go the way it's supposed to...example, guys don't just get injured they get the rarest form of cancer known to western medicine. Now the 3 year project may turn into a 1 year project. In my PJMGT class we call this "crashing the schedule". So, should whatever need to happen for Michkov-mania to begin next season; what do people think should be done with the roster? Do the Flyers trade for a youngish #1 C, Does it change the Konecny extension strategy? Do the Flyers try to sign a FA 1C for a "few" years. Pie in the sky version of this, sign Stamkos for a short term high dollar contract. That's unrealistic probably. Do the Flyers try to offer-sheet a young guy who is blocked or under-appreciated, Cole Perfetti ? Do the Flyers try to make a move for some of the Carolina forwards who are deemed expendable since a big bill is coming due this summer. People have mentioned Necas, or Teravainen both are older than Konecny but they are good players. I don't think Jarvis or Drury will be available but maybe some of these near 30s guys could be in play. Any of the Tronno core guys worth kicking a tire on ? Marner or Wille? i don't think Auston is going anywhere. Or, do the Flyers wait a season, finish in the bottom 10 draft some more top of the lineup players and make a push for the splash FA signing in 25/26? Let Michkov develop while taking some lumps, so he gets a nice chip on his shoulder. Based on the salary cap strategy of just not giving a rat's ass until 2026, it almost makes sense to hold off on making a big splash this season- Should this Michkov business be accelerated.
  4. Wow. Edwards has long been one of the most biased announcers in any sport. That performance Tuesday set a new low. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only person thinking his retirement won't come a second too soon.
  5. I heard on a podcast to expect this situation and the machinations around it to be weird. Even by Flyers standards, which is pretty damn weird. It would also be good to know for sure prior to the draft so "things" can happen.
  6. My initial thought was the knock on their skating as young players also.
  7. They traded those players away at the trade deadline when they weren't able to compete. Did they start those seasons with the idea they wouldn't be competitive? I don't remember it that way. There's coming to the realization that this group isn't getting it done and trading expiring contracts and older players and then there's this idea of the team will be **** all year because we want the top pick. I have a hard time giving my money to a team that loses on purpose. I forgot the Lightning were owned by a guy with ties to the Yakuza at one time. the Wikipedia page for that team is pretty wild.
  8. I think Foerster's ceiling might be a 60- 75 pt player if everything goes well. Mark Stone light? He is the projection that most readily comes to mind, size, skating, shot. Stone was in his 3rd year when he "took off". Foerster has a season plus a couple of games and is close to being a .5 ppg player 40/85. Caveat is he has to keep getting better. Brink might become something too, he has a longer road because of his size and the coach doesn't like something about him, but that's a guy I can see being a 60+ point player too. He finds space, he has the ability to make something out of nothing. He needs to be doing it consistently.
  9. There are 3 series where I think this. Colorado/Winterpeg, Dallas/Vegas, the just concluded Tampa/Sunrise series has that talent level also. This assumes none of the guys on the Flyers will improve. I think some of the young guys still have room in their game to grow. In three years babies will have to get their asses kicked to learn what it will take to win. But it is a point taken.
  10. It does to me. The Sixers are set to do nothing again. The Orioles are finally looking pretty good. After only 10 years of being the worst organization in north American sports. **** losing on purpose. If a team is trying to win but is legitimately bad that's one thing, a team constructed to lose? **** them. I respect you as a poster but no one, not you nor anyone else will change my mind on this. Also, I know Hedman and Stamkos were top picks and top guys are needed, or at least guys with an elite skill or two. I've known this for a while. The Flyers will have a top 5 pick (6 now because a boy is fickle), a top 7 (Michkov is a legit top 3 talent who fell) pick a top 15 pick over a 3 year span. Adding to that- additional picks in the 1st round. This team should be able to add high quality players they have 7 cracks at it over a 4 year span. I think the Flyers 2025 pick will be top 10, I don't think they're better next year. An organization with it's head not in it's ass should be able to make some hay with all that quality coming into the ranks. * I wonder if a mod can move this to a Flyers draft thread or end of year summary thread. I don't think this conversation belongs in a playoff thread.
  11. What was funny to me was, I typed that and VGK immediately, surges and scores a goal. I thought Oettinger was good and Dallas was keeping VGK from rolling early, they had an okay PK and were mucking the game down. Then Dallas had that bad powerplay around 7 minutes & VGK got some momentum from killing it off. Spoke too soon I reckon.
  12. The team was legitimately bad when those guys were drafted. TBL didn't get rid of everyone good to make it happen. They hit on those picks/ were lucky when they sucked.
  13. Last ride for this group of Boltz. It seems like change is coming. This has, imo been the best team in TBL history. Consistently a contender for the cup. Hedman the best defenceman in the team's history? Stamkos the best forward? They should be used as a model for building a window to compete for championships. FLA is just too good this time.
