  1. Yah, pics would be cool, bunny, if you can...(but not the ones falling on yer arse...haha! ). Way to go,, bunnyman!! Good on you for getting back in the saddle! Keep us posted how it's going...glad you went with full cage too...ya just never know, right? I'd be doing the same...you prefer cage to full visor then? Too steamed up? Thought this might've been corrected by now by makers...I don't remember that my full visor used to get steamy, but not like I used it much either....a thousand moons ago...haha!
  2. @Polaris922 On the other hand, don't be a pansy about things and get yourself suspended,,,.right, Edler?
  3. Yah @jammer2, I remember I think you said he was one of the laziest players out of Windsor. he had his spurts with us back in the day, & I thought he was an ok guy, I never heard anything about him running his mouth about any of the Nucks but that doesn't mean he didn't. At least he finally was honest with himself & hung it up. Takes more than just good talent to be a good player, you need the character too & sometimes your reputation can make or break you.
  4. @flyerrod Sweet deal for you, splitting the package! Yah, the Sharks have got something going on right!! They are looking far better than LA even at this point, what a far cry they are from the years we used to kick them out in the first rounder (not that long ago!). Yah, I hope the Nucks figure their system out sooner than later...the Sharks may be giving them an inferiority complex! We have to face them 2 more times next month....
  5. A 4-0 shutout against the Preds tonite, the 7th of his career...looking really good so far in the Leafs' net, really exciting to watch him! At age 25, his career on the rise in his prime. (On the other hand, what the heck is happening to the elite goalies of the league? Pekka Rinne gives up 4 goals tonite, Henrik Lundqvist gives up 6!! (6-0 shutout for Ducks tonite)....whaaat?? Lundqvist has really not been looking himself lately!)
  6. Horrific...just horriffic. The identical score to the game 1 week ago?? A 4-1 shellacking once again. I missed the 1st period and a half or so, due to the Bears/Giants game knocking out our programming (thanks a lot Sportsnet!), so caught the game at score of just 2-1 about mid-way into the 2nd. I thought we had some hope (at least it wasn't 9-2 at this point!). Then about 12 mins in, Marleau makes it 3-1, & the Nucks pretty much deflated after that. Besides a pretty good couple shifts with our 4th line keeping the puck deep in the Sharks' zone & hemming them in for several minutes later into the 2nd, though nothing to show for it, our team pretty much disappeared for the remainder of the night. The one bright spot again...3rd line forward Santorelli, earning now a spot on the wing with the Sedins due to his recent goal production for us, scored once again, his 3rd in a row (1 goal in each of 3 games), about halfway into the 2nd with a nice tip-in from a good pass from d- Stanton. He earned 3rd star in the game. Another plus in our favour is our strong PK...none of the goals scored by the Sharks were on a PP. We've killed off all 18 PP's against us this season. It's a good thing too, as we still need work in avoiding the penalty box. I'm not sure what Torts was thinking, pulling Lu with 3 mins still left in the game, & us winning only 40% of the face-offs all nite, I just knew that was trouble, & sure enough, Sharks scored on the empty net, making it 4-1. The cherry on top. I did however like the fact that TMNH couldn't score on Lu all nite, though he tried several times. Edler in fact, nearly took his head off on a rush for the puck, knocking Hertl's helmet off. So that was sort of a nice consolation but I'd much rather see the results on the board. 11 games lost from the Shark-attack & counting....somebody pull us out of the water NOW!!
  7. @bunnyman Awww...are you being picked on bunny?? Never fear, my sword & shield are here!!
  8. Actually I was meaning more from the 'keeping within the TV schedule time restraints'...haha
  9. I hear what you're saying about the whole team being involved in the O/T, as the whole team didn't win in the 1st place. But reducing the team to 4 on 4 makes sense to me, as it opens up the ice, & increases the chances of scoring...the better skating & passing team then should win (technically speaking). It also allows the guys more rest time in between shifts.
  10. Nice Tret, good job on Tretiak's stick too...a nice homemade replica!
  11. We are on a 3-game winning streak, but must be taken with a grain of salt...beating Edmonton, Calgary, and Tuesday nite Jersey, were not exactly our biggest contenders (& a couple of those games just barely squeaking by!). Jersey was a bit of a surprise the way they fought us hard, & we had one really bad bounce off a ref's foot that ended up in our goal. But I'm quite happy with our play Tues nite, with some pluses: Lu played for us great, the emotions of the showdown against Schneids never got into his head, and I was pleasantly surprised by our 3rd line guys Santorelli & Richardson...Santorelli having 2 back-to-back game-winning goals in O/T, needless to say, a nice pick-up from the Jets on the cheap at $550,000. Tonite, however, is our biggest challenge on our streak (so-called)...we face one of our biggest opponents of this season again, the Sharks, having lost our last 10 games to them (including playoffs). The Sharks are brutal this year, off to a rampaging start, and that's even before mentioning the Hertl kid's flare. I think so far, Torts has helped us overcome some flaws in our game, one especially being becoming more aggressive on plays, not allowing us to give up on 2-0, 3-0 deficits (& come out winning), and shoring up on our defensive play. I see us getting progressively better in some areas, each game. But we are far from being a 'contender' yet, imo. So, tonite is going to be a real test for us...in showing how far we've come since our last shellacking loss of 4-1 from them 1 week ago. How do you think we'll do? Do we have a chance to win or even come close?
  12. @pilldoc Exactly, we don't have it in the playoffs & I find O/T much more satisfying. Yes, it would make it all the more special that way. Although I find 5 mins of O/T, as they have now before the shootout, just goes by too fast...thus I prefer the 10 mins.
  13. Ok, time to revisit this age-old controversy. Some want a final decision in a game, despite the shootout seeming more like a 'skills competition' than a real deciding factor. Others prefer no shootouts, keep it to overtime, and if there's no winner, just leave it as a 'tie' already. Now with Teenage Mutant Ninja Hertl on the rise, maybe some have changed their minds, and want to see more of these flashy and entertaining goals in this perfect showcase: the shootout. What say you? Keep the shootout in, or boot the shootout out? Is there a different system you want in place instead? For me, I'd prefer 10 mins of overtime, 4 on 4. If no game winner, declare it a tie. Each team receiving a point.
  14. @hf101 I'm wondering if Backstrom re-injured the same right leg that got injured in warm-up practise around April 30th? I guess, though Josh Harding can fill in temporarily, he can't be played too regularly with his MS. Do you know his latest health situation? I'm so amazed at Josh & his story, esp. that he chose to stay with the Wild because of their loyalty to him through his struggles, & I give full kudos to the Wild organization for sticking with Josh through the hard times, I'm not sure many other teams would have taken the risk due to his health issues.
  15. The good news is that it has become day-to-day according to coach, Mike Yeo. I'm glad Backstrom was re-signed with the Wild for 3 yrs, to me he's the face of the franchise. I really hope he can overcome his leg injury, it was just one of those weird positions it landed in up against the goal post, a shame. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=686087#&navid=nhl-search
  16. @radoran Are you & @ruxpin actually one & the same person?? C'mon, give up the charade rad/rux!! The Hawks/Blues game should be a great one tonite...some saying a preview of the post-season...ho-ho, & what did I predict in the predictions for 2013-14 thread?? wooo-hooo!!
  17. @Polaris922 (hey i like your new siggy! lol) Actually, & you've probably heard by now, both goalies were really good last nite, Schneids especially in the 1st period, just stonewalling the Nucks! Lu came through for us nicely as well, with one horrific bounce off a ref's foot, Weise's foot (I think it was) & in on the short side through Lu's feet, making it 2-0 against us. Could've been big trouble for us but Torts wouldn't let them give up, we fought back & overcame the deficit, with some impressive playing I'm happy to say from our 3rd line of Santorelli & Richardson. Tomorrow is the game I'm dreading though with fear & trembling....ugh the Sharks....& the cherry on top now: Hertl! Something tells me he is not a one-hit wonder! So that should stymie any chance of a 4-game winning streak.
  18. Yes, I watched the doc on Sportsnet when it aired recently, I had never heard about his story either. It's quite an unbelievable background & struggle he's had to overcome in his life since childhood, but you'd never guess it from what success he's made of his life. Great to see and great courage from the pro to reveal such a personal, intimate, & somewhat dark, part of his life. It will give hope to many others struggling with things from their childhood/past.
  19. For interest's sake, here is part of an article re: 'Top 10 rookies to watch for this year', which I wrote a topic about back in August. What an understatement about Hertl, huh? http://thehockeywriters.com/top-ten-rookies-to-watch-in-2013-14/
  20. Saw parts of that game & that unbelievable shot between his legs...talk about the kid having 'moxie'! A hat-trick would have been totally amazing enough for the rook, but 4 goals?! At a home game....with his mother & girlfriend in the crowd...haha! He had no words in the post-game interview...'It's just a dream' is all he could manage to utter...can't imagine his excitement. All I can say is...I'm glad we weren't playing them TONITE!! .....BUT....WE PLAY THEM THURSDAY....DA-MN!!
  21. Ah, thanks for that, I didn't know they resembled the original Sens' jerseys. Then that definitely gets points based on the nostalgic vintage theme...kudos to you for that!
  22. (Ahem)...Pols, which suburb of Pittsburgh do you live in again??
  23. @ruxpin What, you can't picture Raymond wearing the wig?
  24. Wow, so far this poll is 80-20 split! I was actually expecting it more halfway down the line for this forum...I thought others would want to keep the spin-o-rama in the game. To me, whenever I see a player come to that sudden halt, spin & then shoot, I feel a let down on the inside, like it was more of a trick shot, not based on using the deke & shoot skills you normally see during a game. If it's a 'skills competition', then yah, have at it! But when we're talking game wins/losses, & points, I think it should be taken more seriously, not just for the sake of fun & entertainment. If that's the case, why not unicycle up to the goalie & knock the puck in with a polo stick, wearing a clown wig? Surely, that's not against the rules, is it? The player is in motion, AND the puck is in motion in that case.
