  1. Dude...just realized...you left Provorov on the bench in All Stars! Happened to me some days ago with Kadri….and of course, Kadri produced double digit face offs. How it goes...… same with Provy for you.
  2. Part of Raffl's punishement, apparently, was not only to get 2 minutes, but to hit the post once he got out and got a scoring chance...
  3. What??!! YOU!! RAFFL!! You, you...just can't go around tripping up Jack Hughes. Go sit down....just...sit....down....
  4. TK gets an assist...means an assist, a point, and a PPP in NAHANA for me!
  5. Flyers FINALLY break through. Provorov with the snipe. 1-0 Fly
  6. LOL...how did that NOT go in??? Schneider was down n out..... Invisible force field is up...
  7. Oh my...... Claude Dirty Mitts Giroux with a wide open gaping net....couldn't put it away. I bet if the goalie had been an Ottawa law enforcement officer he would have found a way to get it in.....
  8. Alain Vigneault's Flyer mantra: "Work hard, work smart" Craig Berube's mantra: "Work harder" Hmmm....Vigneault may have one over Berube...he at least advocates 'smarter'..... and if Berube won a Cup without being smarter, I imagine the Flyers are due for two Cups in three years...
  9. Not ready to send the Sharkies to the canned tuna factories just yet. Yea....start of the season ALWAYS sees wacky stuff go on (players who should do better aren't, and players who have no business being on an NHL ice sheet play some of their best Gretzkian hockey..... till they remember they are really AHL fodder)... The lack of production of the 'star players' is a bit concerning (for fantasy purposes, me retaining Timo Meier as a keeper is looking pretty bad right now, for instance), and yes, the depth isn't what it has been in years past, but there are still some very good hockey players on this team.....they simply haven't gotten it in gear yet. I do rather like the Knights as favorites for the division, but the Sharks should still be in the conversation. Let's see them get all their pieces back and let's see what they are doing by the quarter pole of the season (19-22 games in)...that should give us a better indicator of what this team really has.
  10. Trade in All Star League.... The Halifax Sharknadoticons receive: (G)-Braden Holtby and (RW) Kyle Palmieri The Green Star Blades receive: (G)- Corey Crawford and (L/RW) Patrik Laine The Sharkies get some much needed goalie help, the Star Blades add to their offense. Guess I will be dealing with Chicago goaltending after acquiring Lehner earlier on, still have Carey Price on board, but Laine should fit in nicely with my very exciting wingers and centers. Holtby will bolster the Sharktithingcons and Kyle Palmieri is nothing to scoff at, as he is a steady, sometimes hot streaking winger year after year.
  11. Feel for ya J0e... But knowing you, you will patch something together...squeak into the playoffs, make life miserable for us spreadsheet prepared GMs, and play the Cinderella card to the hilt! Good luck, my friend.
  12. Well, obviously small NHL sample size, but he looked pretty damned good yesterday. Goal aside, he was just alive in all areas of the ice. You always ice a solid FHL team, Yave, even if he doesn't develop into a superstar overnight this season in the NHL, he may be worth keeping around your core players. But if he does...yowza...look out..
  13. Hang on to your skates, guys... Given how Chicago seems to have gone "all in" on offense the last couple seasons, the Flyers look better on the attack than they do on the defensive with their group (at least on paper)….AND early season games are usually dominated by the scorers than the defenders.... Game could turn into a high powered offensive affair! Sounds exciting.... round and round they go.....and a combined 9 or 10 goals later....who gets the last laugh? Toews, Kane, DeBrincat, Keith? Or Giroux, JVR, TK, and Provorov? Those 8 could feature mightily on the scoreboard!
  14. Thanks @Podein25 It also did occur to me after I posted.....usually, this time of year, after training camp cuts, pre-season, and the actual season underway, most teams have a full shelf of contracts anyways (most are around the 48-50 contract range) and probably wouldn't have the room to add another unless they were REALLY sure about the player they were claiming.
  15. From TSN https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/transactions Transactions by teams over the last couple days....many of them of the aforementioned waiver variety. I am guessing many teams waive players at the start of the season knowing full well they should clear and then the player gets assigned to the minors. Common practice? I guess I just never really paid attention to that before. Guys I mentioned in before...like Baertschi and Sprong...all cleared and got sent down. I have to wonder though....what if a team DID decide to make a claim...would that fall under those unwritten "no no's" that GMs have to abide by? You know...like offer sheets? Curious indeed...
  16. Why do I get the feeling that Vegas is going to be one of those teams that will just continually come up with wave after wave of good players? Even after departures of established guys, cap crunches, and people writing them off as "well, they had their run". This Cody Glass guy might be the first of many new wave guys coming through their system that will just keep the Knights competitive long after their rivals fail to see beyond the short term future. Abundance of talent in the NHL indeed...... Yea....let's see what this "kid' has got this year!
  17. The new season is here, and so is a new thread for the current Iowa Wild team and the next wave of players coming up through the system. Have at it.
  18. Looking forward to a new season, and as always, the Central will be one of the toughest divisions top to bottom and the Wild start off with the defending division champions. I know Mikael Granlund was traded last season over to the Preds, but looking at some preview stuff, he still looks weird wearing Nashville gold. And while he wasn't a huge factor for the Preds last season, I am betting now that he has had time to adjust to being a Pred, have a full training camp and pre-season with the team, and gotten over being traded, he will be a huge help to that team this year....hopefully he won't be too much of a thorn in the side of the Wild. Obviously looking forward to big years from guys like Zach Parise, Jason Zucker, Jared Spurgeon, Ryan Suter, Mat Dumba, and Eric Staal, as THAT is how it is going to have to be if the Wild are going anywhere this year, but, also want to see what new guys Mats Zuccarello and Ryan Hartman can add to the team. Kevin Fiala? Look if the guy can just keep from turning the puck over so much, I will count that as a small victory. Ryan Donato and Brad Hunt will be my sneaky picks to have surprising years that no one is expecting. What better way for them to start out that way than against the Predators. And Dubnyk. Ohhhh, Duby. He HAS to be solid. No softies every game or every other game...definitely no softies against the likes of the Nashville Predators. For the boys in white n green tonight.... Go Wild GO!
  19. @FD19372 Hell, I can get on board with your TB over Col in the Finals!! Only 82 games and possibly another 28 in the post season stand in the way is all...
