  1. I'll be pissed if Holmgren doesn't resign Gagne. Gagne is willing to take less to stay in Philly, he will take over being the mentor for the young players, especially to the French speaking players. If he is willing to sign for cheap then he'd be great on the third line.
  2. I agree the Flyers can use a right-handed shooting defenseman!
  3. Never say never when it comes to Holmgren, he'll disregard the real problem on this team - goaltending and defense and try to sign another forward (will call it the Bob Clarke syndrome). He'll say that he needed to replace Briere.
  4. Giroux will probably get an 8 year deal with an annual cap hit of $7.5 million
  5. Emery now has a cup ring so he probably won't be resigned by Chicago because they want the young goalie they just signed to be Crawford's backup. So if he split time with Mason then I hope that's the way the Flyers go. Holmgren got a get out of jail free card with eliminating Bryzgalov's contract I hope to hell he isn't that stupid to trade for Luongo or sign another goalie to a long-term deal. I'm hoping he does what he should have done two years ago with Bobrovsky and sign a veteran backup and let the young goalie (Mason) go with the starting job and see what he does.
  6. If Hiller is coming to the Flyers don't be surprised if Bobby Ryan is coming along with him.
  7. All I can say there is a Santa Claus and don't let the door hit your ass on your way out Bryzgalov!
  8. Winter knows that if Bryzgalov gets bought out then he'll won't get another job in the NHL
  9. He is an idiot who cares about what goes on in outer space then just playing goalie. He wanted to be paid like an elite goalie so the Flyers obliged yet he hasn't played like an elite goalie. His actions on and off the ice not too mention the comments that keep coming out of his mouth gives the majority of Flyers fans a reason to dislike him. The Flyers have a chance to get rid of him and they better do it this summer otherwise it will be a long season in Flyersland with a lot of pissed off fans. Philly fans love players who worked their asses off and Bryzgalov doesn't fall under that category.
  10. If that's the case then the Flyers have to pencil Couturier in as the second line centre and let him develop from there. Since they're buying out Briere I hope the Flyers aren't going to sign a free agent to replace him, I'd rather see them let Couturier or Schenn start as the second line centre. It would be great if Holmgren and the Flyers had a long term plan and stick to that plan instead of flying by the seat of their pants.
  11. That's the end deal whether the players don't like Bryzgalov has no baring on the Flyers buying him out, get rid of him and his 7 year anchored contract. Bring in somebody to backup Mason and go with that, maybe the change of scenery and the fact he's playing for another contract might be enough for Mason to play like he did in his rookie year. As far as I'm concerned, getting rid of Bryzgalov and his contract would be like a big free agent signing.
  12. Sorry HF101 but Frattin is far from a top 6 forward/prospect and the Kings could have easily signed a free agent backup who would make less than $750,000 to backup Quick. This looks more like let's see if Holmgren would overpay but Read is better than Frattin and if the Flyers added Cousins that would have more than been enough to get Bernier. I hope to hell that Bernier falls flat on his face otherwise once again Flyers fans will have to watch a goalie they should have had go on to have a good career elsewhere. It's high time that Holmgren and the Flyers build a ****in team from the goal out. Maybe we can trade Holmgren for Hextall.
  13. Holmgren is an idiot, if they bring back Bryzgalov this year I hope they end up last overall and old man Snider has a heart attack because the Flyers have no playoff revenue for two years running. Probably could have had him for Read, Cousins and 2nd. Probably assets that he could have used to land Bernier Holmgren will use to try and land another ****in forward, Bobby Ryan, instead of trying to upgrade the problem that has been around in the last 25 years. Sign Emery or anybody else and just get rid of Bryzgalov.
  14. And when shots are fired at the top half of the net, Bryzgalov ducks to get down to 5'9" so he doesn't make the save.
  15. As Flyers fans we would love to see Briere end his career in Philly but both he and the fans know it's a business. Classy individual and he'll be missed in the dressing room. Hopefully Holmgren uses the other buyout on Bryzgalov.
  16. The Bernier situation reminds me of the summer of 1998 when Clarke signed Vanbriesbouck instead of the guy most fans wanted, Curtis Joseph and then Joseph ended up signing with the Leafs. The last places I want to see Bernier end up are Toronto, New Jersey or the Islanders.
  17. Give him a full year in the OHL and see how he does. He didn't look too great in the Memorial Cup but time will tell.
  18. Have you been reading too much of Eklund, just kidding! I agree that Holmgren and Lombardi have some groundwork deal for Bernier. As for Ryan, nothing word surprise me when it comes to Holmgren and the Flyers love to have Ryan in the fold but why not wait for a couple of years when he becomes a free agent. As for Yandle and Richards, if the Rangers buyout Richards I could see the Flyers in the mix but Richards will go to the team who pays him the most which won't be the Flyers because they have to resign their RFAs in the next couple of years. Yandle could end up here if Couturier is a part of the package going the other way. As long as they end up with Bernier and get rid of Bryzgalov I'll be happy.
  19. As others have stated, he's locker-room disaster and if you don't buy him out this summer you run the risk of him getting injured and ending up on LITR which means the Flyers couldn't buy him out. Buy him out and be done with it.
  20. Well since Lombardi has stated in the past that they'd like to get a 1st rounder back for Bernier would Read and 2nd rounder be a fair deal since LA just resigned their Russian defenseman, Voynov to a 6 year deal. Or does Holmgren go in a way of an offer sheet of just over 3 million per year for 3 years to force LA's hand. Lombardi and Holmgren have a good relationship and I'd rather see Bernier in a Philly uniform instead of a Devils, Penguins or Leafs uniform. Read would be a cheap caphit for LA.
  21. You mean Holmgren didn't give out his usual NMC but only a limited NTC to Streit. That in itself is a win considering Holmgren's history of handing out NMC like candy. Good arguments discussed on both sides of the Streit signing so I guess it's wait and see how he does over the next 4 years. I still think Holmgren is an idiot for the way he handles the cap but he's not shy to try things even if they blow up in his face. I'd love to see Nurse in a Philly uniform at the draft but unless the Flyers trade up I think he's gone. It looks like Carolina is interested in trading the 5th overall pick so maybe Holmgren will be kicking tires on that front.
  22. This signing just proves that Holmgren has no plan in place for this team, he just keeps flying by the seat of his pants. I would have taken Gonchar for 2 years. The UFA market would have been brutal for defensemen, can only hope that Holmgren drafts a defenseman in the upcoming draft.
  23. That's my thoughts, if Read can turn into Bernier or a solid defenseman then you have to trade him. From what I've read the LA Kings are ready or looking into trading Bernier so if the Flyers don't end up with him I hope to hell that New Jersey doesn't get him. If getting rid of Briere, Bryzgalov and Mesaros and the Flyers get younger then I'm all for it.
  24. If giving up Read and possibly a 2nd rounder for Bernier and the Flyers can buyout Bryzgalov then I'm all for it. Besides the last thing I want to see is New Jersey trade for him and he turns out to be a pain in the Flyers asses for the next 10 years like Brodeur has been all of these years. Having Bernier and Mason fight it out for the number one spot isn't a bad thing.
  25. The problem is linked to one man, Ed Snider. If he showed the patience and let Holmgren build a contender instead of trying to buy one then Holmgren might have a chance. Snider wants to win another championship so bad but doesn't want to do it the way the Flyers did when they did win their two championship in the 70's - thru the draft and trading players to benefit the team. If Holmgren was fired and they brought in Brian Burke, Snider and him would clash from the start which wouldn't be good. Hexie has been away from the Flyers culture for a long enough time that he wouldn't be a bad choice because he understands what Snider wants, he understands the passion of the Flyers fans and he's learned to build a championship team thru his time with Lombardi in LA. I can see lots of changes this summer I only hope these ones help the team unlike years past. The Read/Bernier rumour is interesting, if it happened it would be interesting to see 2 young goalie fighting over the number one spot but the bonus would be seeing Bryzgalov gone.
