Agree with this 100% - tailgating in winter was awesome (and even better in springtime when they made Cup runs) - I also loved the original Williams Arena for Golden Rodent puck
"It was reported today that the NHL has reached a uniform agreement with Victoria's Secret who vow that their game sweaters are 90% lighter and more comfortable than the ADIZERO sweaters the players currently wear"
Wait...what? I was a n STH'er for BOTH iterations of the Fighting Saints (one corner, row 1 knees in full view of deflected slappers coming right at the glass boards) and one who is steeped in the history of the rebel league...for the record
Owner of 7 WHA sweaters
Yup - good stuff. I remember that - and I also remember thinking that it was a good thing the game was outdoors that day in Buffalo - because between he and the Milbury Dough-Boy, - those two egos wouldn't fit in an NHL arena
Great Story on former Fighting Saint Goldie Goldthorpe here. He didn't get the part in the movie "Slapshot" because he broke a bottle over Paul Newman's brother's noggin

Icechipper - that "Hot Line" that the WHA version of the Winnipeg Jets had (Bobby Hull, Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson) is STILL to this day, the most electrifying line I have seen live...albeit at the St. Paul Civic Center (with the glass boards) not in the Peg.
Some things never change Glad you are here JTG
If I am honest (and I am) had there been message boards then - I would have been posting stuff aboot Orr and Beliveau all the time, as I loved them as much as you love Boeser
Come to think of it - I still do post aboot them
Ha! That sneaky Kevin turned the lights off 2 days earlier than announced on Wild Message Boards
And here I was crafting a eulogy in hopes of making the final post.
Oops, and a Marc Tardif Quebec Nordiques sweater. Sorry so discombobulated....i really need to take inventory.
Tardif is the all time leading scorer in WHA history.
I was a HUGE WHA fan...had season tix for both iterations of the Fighting Saints. I'll tease with the fact that I have 2 bleu (Shakey Walton and Dave Keon) and 1 Red (Mike Antonovich) Fighting Saints sweaters, plus New England Whalers (Rick Ley) Philadelphia Blazers (Derek Sanderson) and Toronto Toros (Frank Mahovlich)
I've recently added a bunch to my sweater collection, including a signed Broten #miracle USA. I need to take stock of what I have (in two closets of my house) anyway to unload a few. Will post when I do. It's too danged nice out this weekend (I LOVE 90's and humid!)
Great collection Crease and Assist!
