  1. what is your goal here? be a dynasty? winning one cup isnt good enough for you?
  2. you cant tell players to lose, they want to win which you cant accept. you act like young defenseman are going to become superstars overnight and you dont know how good they are going to be, example buffalo, heck you might draft another provy type of player if we were really bad, i would rather trade for one, who? i dont know, trust the fo because if you cant trust anyone, i dont know why you are rooting for this team?
  3. heck look at the canucks, they dont have mcdavid on their roster, they are playing like a team, getting good goaltending because of that they are winning games because they are buying in and with the flyers there are still some bad players on this team, not surprising really, i have alot of confidence in torts in turning this team back into a contender. it's getting rid of the players that wont buy in.
  4. yes thank you, agree 100 percent and let's bring another team that has a ton of top 5 picks and havent gone anywhere which is the Edmonton oilers, it means nothing if you have top 5 players, you need depth, all cup teams have depth, like if crosby was that special why did take another 7 years for him to win another cup? the maple leafs hasnt won anything with two top 2 centers, it's like no one is looking at what do these cups teams have that these teams like superstars cant over the hump dont have? heck the kings, bruins, blues, golden knights didnt have crosby and kane stars and still won cups. like we have to find other ways to win rather than relying on getting the first overall pick because i guarantee if we tank, we will never have a chance of making it into the playoffs. i would rather make the playoffs and add proven stars to get this team over the hump rather than to never make the playoff in 20 plus years all because tank obsessed fans want dynasty and that's impossible in a cap world because you will lose players, that's over and fans have to get over that mentality.
  5. if you going to complain, if you cant get patient and being negative everytime, then stop rooting for them. what's stopping you?
  6. tanking fans dont seem to understand that having a whole team of youth is not going to get over the hump because of the fact they will make mistakes and cost us games, that's the reason why vegas never built the team with youth, they brought in mostly experienced players because they wont make mistakes and won more games. the only reason we have youth on this roster is because of our cap situation and that goes back to hextall's philosophy and fletch as well, we they just relyed so much on youth to fix this roster and it backfired on them especially after we lost our important vets which make this team much worse.
  7. i think sanheim isnt going to be here, if he plays well this year, he's getting traded at the deadline to a contender, as far as hedman is concerned i dont think he's going to get a big return as a result of him not staying healthy his contract, his age, the return will probably be similar to mcdonagh.
  8. i think coots, farabee, tk maybe laughton are deadline deals, none of them are worth long term too inconsistent.
  9. im on board with plan, i do believe this organization wants to win, biggest problem is our cap space because when a big time player becomes available we have opportunity to get them, i know fans want to tank for top 5 guys every year but you do need outside talent to get this team over hump because these are 18 year old players relying just on them isnt a good idea for their development and we dont know how much of an impact they are going to make. and just for the record, i have no issues playing alot of youth at all since especially on entry level deals that will save us alot of cap space but we still need those outside talent players to help the youth.
  10. that's the problem here, it's the salary cap and ntc and fans are blaming it on the flyers for leaking like what does that have to do with anything? i mean there's always leaks and trades get done, problem here it's like you said it's salary cap and the ntc is holding this up. at least briere is trying to so hard to get this done and no one wants to give him credit for that, thing is he setting the tone that he means business, he's not going to sit around.
  11. jones did say that they are going to attach picks to get rid of players, so i think we have to be prepared for that.
  12. is this is because you hate the flyers so much that you dont want anyone that's a former flyer on this staff no matter if they are drafted or not? why cant you just put that aside and see they are good hockey minds? these fantasy ideas of hiring complete outside people, how do you know they want to be part of a rebuilding team?
  13. im the one that said hextall was a terrible hire and that it wasnt going to work: my point is, you dont like briere and jones so what are the better candidates out there? they are pretty such the same structure as we have with hextall and fletch, all spend to the cap and not focus on depth. yes, winning cup gms dont mean anything but they have structure of a roster that can get this team out of the first round and beyond, that's what you want. the gms available right now dont have that structure, that's why they went briere and jones because they have a different structure than these gms. and yes i would still go after those gms of florida, carolina, dallas and vegas if they are available a few years because they have the right structure to win. if you cant be patient for a few years, then why are rooting for this team then because winning takes patience, it's not something you can just fix overnight because you need the right players.
  14. im not talking about fletcher, im talking about who are the upgrades? if you know anything about hockey you should tell me.
  15. you dont get it, well, point to me who is the next joe sakic or steve y then? hextall? dubus? Treliving? Botterill? brad holland? none of these guys are clear upgrades, they havent won nothing. like i said if you want a cup gm, you have to hire that guy that did it and they are not easy to acquire. i mean whoever they hire it's going to be a question mark right now because there are no clear upgrades, so yeah if briere fails then you have to be patient for that guy, sorry but that's just the way it is in hockey. it's not easy to build a championship when there's a salary cap and the right players have to be there in fa or trades. when there was no salary cap it was easy to build a championship because you can get stars for nothing, now it's harder with the salary cap because you have to rely on picks and spend on the right players. dont blame me, im just pointing out facts, blame the system by the nhl that made it harder.
  16. alot of people just dont get or understand this hire it's because they are no great candidates like there are no sakics or stevy y type of gms on the market, the only thing you are getting from the candidates available is pretty much the same thing as what you got from hextall and fletch, like you have to develop your staff as some point and not try to take someone else from another team because you have no clue what you are getting from that person like hextall, everyone thought we were getting that la structure from hextall which turns out we didnt, cant make that same mistake again. if you want a winning structure and identity from tampa, carolina, florida, vegas, you have to hire that gm that gets let go or resigned from those teams that created that, not the assistants, they have their own ways of doing things. worst case it doesnt work and better coaches and gms from those teams will become available in 3 to 4 years and will get this team over the hump, it'something that you have to patient for.
  17. why is so bad to have rookies in the front office? just because rehashed gms that won championships, doesnt mean it's going to work with another team, it's very rare, you dont know what their plan is or they willing work with you, that's the issue with hextall here and in pittsburgh, heck the playoff teams right now have gms that havent won anything. it's just the simple fact of accountability in the front office, coaches and players. looks like we have that in the fo and coaches, players i think that's where are not there yet. that's why briere said it's going to take time to fix this because the culture the players were apart of from the hextall era which isnt very good. there are probably some of them here but not the whole team.
  18. i think this is the reason why danny said this is going to take time because we are against the cap, our goaltending is a question mark and depending on what's out there in fa in terms what players are out there that are reasonable, i think it's an accurate statement and i do believe this is way he wants to build this roster.
  19. vegas had no stars on their roster in their first year, you telling me that cant work either? or the hurricanes without their top 2 players and are destroying the devils in the playoffs that have top 5 players? this is what i cant understand is why is always about stars and not about depth? you need depth and goaltending to win cups, why did tampa didnt fold in 2020 playoffs and won it all when they lost stamkos? or heck why did the blues win the cup without a top 5 star? are you telling me you dont see a trend here?
  20. it's a moneyball rebuild, i think that's the way the flyers should build the team, i think the 2023 is going to be another evaluation year if the prospects are good or not and the 2024 offeason is going to be the year for the aggressive retool of picking up reasonable nhl players all over the roster and a great goalie whether it's in our system or in fa, that's the way we should build this roster.
  21. sadly, it's never going to happen for us, we have to build it another way.
  22. you have to be a deep team, that's what toronto isnt because they spend so much money at star forwards which leaves their depth vulnerable, i mean look at the kraken, they have a star goalie and they have forwards and d that isnt paid much which they dont have to rely so much on rookies to bail them out. you cant make super teams anymore because of the salary cap, you have to focus on depth players and getting great goaltending, relying so much on youth is what's going to hurt you if they are not very good.
  23. heck look at the kraken, they are physical from top to bottom, i dont understand how fans are just thinking that players cant play defense and being physical is going to make things better? like unless the hitting goes away then i would say we wouldnt need any physical players. heck when columbus beat tampa in the playoffs they were physical on them, that's why they swept them.
  24. there's always a thing called offense is created by playing defense because you create more odd man rushes and you create more scoring chances, i mean yes it would be great to have the best snipers in the world but even great goalies can shut them down, you have to create more offense by getting in the dirty areas and finding ways of getting below the hash marks.
  25. heck the oilers got beat by kings with no 40 goal scorers, i really think fans need to face reality that defensive hockey isnt going anywhere unfortunately unless gary starts banned defensive style hockey, it's main reason why offensive first scheme doesnt work in the playoffs, too many trap teams.
