  1. thank god fletch didnt overpay for johnny g, that would have been a disaster, it's tough to win cups, it's tough to get the right players, i mean i dont know if you are an eagles fan but it was tough for the eagles to win sbs because it was difficult to get those players to get that team over the hump and when it finally went our way in 2017, that's when we won the sb but we keep focusing on winning and making the playoffs so we can attract those players. the only way the flyers will win a cup that the same luck has to happen with eagles, the right players have to become available and it wont work by tanking/losing because you wont attract those players. we have a great coaching staff, it seems like culture is going in the right direction, great goal tending in carter hart, some good forwards we drafted and now everything has to fall in place and hopefully the players that will get this team over hump will become available. that's why we have to patient because of the salary cap, so many great players want big contracts but because of so many teams against the cup, those great players have to stay with those teams as result of them having the cap space to give them the big deals they want. there's no other way, that's just the way the nhl has made these rules.
  2. what gm do you want? how do you know he would want to come here? what plan do you want it to be?
  3. because you want gm to tank this roster that's it and yet you see other teams that have done it, they cant figure out how to win, what makes you think it will work for us especially even if we did get bedard and next year's draft class is trash and get the second coming of jvr and nolan patrick, how is that going to make things better? that's why the oilers are having a ton of problems winning because the players they tanked for were trash in every draft class until they got mcdavid and still cant figure out how to win. you are saying you have no patience, how are you going to have the patience going through a 20 year tank and build method? what's the goal to get 5 stanley cups in a restricted salary cap? you cant accept one cup?
  4. do you ever want to find positive about anything about this team or do you want this team to be bad? because if you dont get your way aka bedard by tanking the crap out of this team, you may just want to look another team root for because there's no hope with this team in the future like who are the superstars that want to come on this team that's really bad? like you really think nhl is going to give us a superstar, i lost my faith in that when they screwed us in the kane draft for jvr, which i dont know how anyone believes that it's not rigged based on that. like come on, you really think us winning now and attracting a superstar with our draft picks playing well is not a positive thing to look forward to, it's insanity.
  5. and that team has no top 5 picks accept taylor hall, they are mostly composed of lower first round players, heck even the lightning player that's unstoppable in the playoffs in point is a seventh round pick.
  6. why are so fixated on one player? if everything was talent, the oilers and maple leafs would be winning cups by now, heck teams that are moving out of the first round more often are the teams that have no mcdavids and matthews. heck if we had a mcdavid and nothing else against the boston series in 2010, you are telling me we had a chance of coming back against them even if he gets shut down and no one else steps up?
  7. it's not like he's the only player on the planet that's available, mcdavid, matthews could be available next year, you really think an 18 year old bedard can handle this type of losing culture with everyone gone? he probably needs alot of work in adjust in the nhl as well because he is a rookie. heck if chicago lands bedard, he could be out alot sooner than jack eichel did, that team has nothing to work with. i get that you want him, we all do but it's still a lottery, if you dont land him and land jvr type of player you are going to be the coyotes and sabres of suckage for a long time. i dont know how anyone on here can say that they would rather be happy losing every year, when everyone has complaining about losing now.
  8. homer was the one that got us closer to the cup more than clarke but because of injuries, we couldnt get over the hump like i dont understand why you said his plan was worse than hextall because this team so much worse now because of his lousy decision making, at least homer brought in players that can score offense and defense, hextall brought in players that couldnt score jack when it comes to forwards which i have been saying for years and you say his plan was better even though the results were ten times worse. i dont understand the fixation with hextall's plan, it's like you want to live and die by his plan and no one else should touch it or they are the bad guys, gms and coaches, i swear if briere comes in here, squashing hextall's plan and brings in players that can score goals and win cups, you are not going to be happy.
  9. if you are saying you can with a cup the roster with that hextall built no scoring forwards you are out of touch because before we were making the playoffs and winning rounds before he got here, it's his foundation, he destroyed it by drafting forwards that cant score which it seems like you are ok with it. you just seem happy we are in this position whether than make the playoffs and winning rounds all because you cant be patient to win the cup with the way homer was building it. i didnt say fletcher was the best but you are just throwing all on him because you expecting a cup out of hextall's prospects and it's failing and you dont want to blame him for anything.
  10. if you can be open minded for one minute instead of let's go armageddon on this franchise and lets look at this team as whole instead of focusing on one or two players and how it compares to the rest of league that's dominating, let's go back before hextall got hired, this team was scoring at a high rate we had more than 5 players scoring double digits and great goaltending, that's why we kept making the playoffs every year, we are always scoring which it was supposed to be. after hextall got hired, this team started to struggle to score which was the reason why were trending down when hextall bringing more players that couldnt score and just play defense, it doesnt work like that. that's why i hated the picks, he was building a team that focused on defense that couldnt score goals, you cant win like that, when fletch came in, he tried to bring in goal scoring, problem was on the market, alot of teams werent going to give up their snipers and the players that were scoring we breaking down and injuried, you cant blame him for that. good things that fletch has done was he's drafting more snipers, problem is they are not ready to play yet, which is why it's going to take time for this team to get back to what it was before hextall was hired, this team that's built right now will not go anywhere. you saw it against the coyotes, no one can snipe for goals, most of them were wrap arounds, that will not work. great teams will great defensive defenseman will defend the nets and make it hard for us to score that way. it wont work. that's why we need more snipers on this roster simply getting bedard will not fix this, if he gets shutdown, the rest of the roster will not score and we will have the same problems again like we did this year. is fletch a bad gm? no, but there's too many holes on this roster for one gm to fix, it may take a couple of gms to get this team back to what it was as long as they focus on getting goal scorers. hextall has tore this team to the bottom with no scoring talent, you will not win this way. i know you dont want to hear it, but that's the reality of it. if you want to keep giving hextall a free pass for this, more power to you but it will not get this team into contender anytime soon.
  11. not really for me, i kind of figured, it's brought out the major flaws in this team that we need snipers, we need a backup goalie and sandstrom isnt it, otherwise torts would be playing him not playing hart.
  12. you are saying our defense was fine in the 2021 shorten season? so it's ok to just not fix the defense and let hart get lit up every game? i mean if you want to tank the roster because you dont like to lose, how is having no defense and goaltending which is hard to acquire going to make anything better? it's not easy to fix a team when the previous gm doesnt trade for a great defenseman like dougie, doesnt draft for defenseman in the top 5 and takes an injuried center, trades away a scoring center for a center that cant score at all, drafts players that cant score at all, how is the fletch supposed to fix it all when the whole roster is a mess from the previous gm? why not takes some positive things from this season and build from that? our defense is better, our goaltending is better, we need goal scoring, problem is they are not ready to play yet and depending on what's available this offseason and if they are interested in coming here, we could be contender alot sooner than like waiting another decade for a player that you may never get. has fletch made mistakes? yes but to blame it all on him is ridiculous because no gm is going to turn this terrible roster into a contender right away because if you believe that then you are not facing reality that hextall screwed this team up in the long haul. if you cant wait a couple more years for the next gm to fix this with fletchers guys then i dont know what to tell you. because they are not going to tank bottom line, only a few teams have done it, havent won nothing, havent made the playoffs for the long time, i mean you are complaining about losing now, i mean how are you going to have the patience or be happy for another decade or more of losing when nothing is a guarantee when it comes to the lottery?
  13. i think provy is the type that he wont be that top 2 guy, he doesnt score, he doesnt defend, he makes the same mistakes for last 5 years in terms of turnovers, that's not what a top 2 dman does. they score, they defend, they get the puck of the zone, provy doesnt do none of those things and i wont be surprised he will be moved, risto as well, we need more puck movers on d, we have too many stay at home dman that cant move the puck out, that's why we are struggling in our dzone, keep getting outshot every game. the forwards i can see what the problems are, not enough shoot first type of players and too much passing around that's causing more turnovers and odd man rushes. we are not going to win hockey games this way, whoever the gm is bottom line is we have to get more offensive players and puck movers through drafting, fa, trades.
  14. not crazy about sandstrom, he's letting in goals that should be stopped. im guessing that they want to see if the young goalies are anything if not, i can see them getting a legit backup next offseason.
  15. risto is a torts type of player, very aggressive type of player, that's why fletch brought him here for that grit, we are missing that.
  16. that's the thing, last year, this team wasnt getting blown out every game, they were in games especially against good teams, they couldnt close them out which is why i think they could be bubble team this year especially with a great coach, i mean, if last year's team was quitting and getting blown out every game, then i can see a reason for a major rebuild.
  17. if the rumors were true that fletch didnt want torts and the ownership overruled him and the lack of moves from fletch really tells you that fletch is probably going to be on his way out, even from the press he looked defeated. the only reason he was kept here, probably because they thought he was willing to turn this team around and work with any coach and i guess they were wrong, that's probably why they hired briere in case fletch started going over his head like he did with the wild. im sure briere had his hand in this torts hire because he played for alot of hard nosed coaches and he's the type that demands accountability especially when he played here as player. does it suck we didnt get johnny g? yes but getting him isnt going to fix the problem especially if the culture in this locker room is really bad, which that has to be fixed more than spending money on players that wont fix it.
  18. i guess this is a two part question, lets say they do fire everyone accept briere i still think he's going to be part of this organization, i have doubts he's going to be a gm since he's not ready and may not take the job yet but who would you want as gm for the flyers? and who do you want as president and hockey ops for the flyers? you know who i would want as gm for the flyers is chris pronger and for president and hockey ops, scotty bowman.
  19. they should have jettison everyone at the trade deadline, get the younger players in here and bring like someone like a burns, trade for debrincat, sign johnny g, sign rutta, i think this team would be better on paper not a contender, at least it's something exciting to watch, instead of watching jvr, tk, sanheim, provy play like crap again, i would rather see york, zamula, and another young dman coming up, wont hurt since you have experience right d which is good balance. now i understand, why people want young players on here they just want something different on the ice instead of the same old players that been here and failing us for a decade.
  20. if the flyers organization had a pulse like the rest of the three organizations phillies, eagles, sixers, we probably wouldnt be here at all. that's the major problem with flyers is that they dont listen to the fans when it comes to getting stars, they do things their way and everything goes to crap, that's what i miss about ed snider, he cared so much about the fanbase and he wanted to win, that what his passion and gave us what we wanted, we are ones paying this too. we not paying to see gritty. what we want is people that gives a s### about this team and listens to us like doing everything in their power to improve this team and give us stars that's all we want.
  21. and you know something else it was reported that there were 5 teams interested in jvr so why would you have to part a pick to get rid of him if there was a market for him? the reason why we got rid of ghost was because there was no market for him, no one wanted him. so it's telling me that chuck wanted a 2023 first round pick for jvr and nothing else. that's bad management, you have to take what you can get to get rid of salary and not wait for someone to blow you away on players because if they start struggling next year, you wont get as much back. the thing is jvr, tk, sanheim, provy, they all should have been traded at the deadline because we needed cap space, that's the reason the 07 rebuild so successful because homer got rid of the contracts, got assets back and used them to get players and signed danny briere.
  22. my god, chuck says we cant move salary, what a pathetic gm. you can move sanheim, tk, provy like what's so hard about moving from some of these players? let york, zamula, and another young d come in and see what they got, they are nothing special and you have your experienced right pairing d, that's pretty much balanced. and sign johnny g, build the talent pool. and let some of the younger right wingers play, maybe they will pan out better. that's what the salary cap is about, playing more youth with talent that's how you work with the cap. tampa and colorado has been doing this, they are not shipping out youth, they are shipping out vets and keeping talent with youth.
  23. you are not kidding. i cant believe they trade him to us and i like this move too like what were they thinking?
  24. i think there's going to be difficult moves to be made because the culture of this lockerroom, whatever it is, i think we all have to be prepared, especially with torts here and also for sake for getting rid of cap space, so we can get some real talent in here.
  25. i guess because av was stepping in a good situation/culture with the rangers and canucks where they were competitive making the playoffs, no locker room issues every year when it came to us we werent like those teams. when he av came here, he came in a situation where we were inconsistent, struggling to win games, not making the playoffs every year, major identity problem, i have to guess there's locker room problems as well. i guess dave scott thought av could get this team back to winning hockey which it did work for one year but i guess from the inconsistency, locker room problems, not making the playoffs every year, i think that losing culture was too much for av to overcome. if this team had an identity, winning every year, didnt have any locker room issues, i think av could have taken them to a different level. which is why they have to bring someone like torts since he knows how to win and they have to reconstruct the team's winning culture meaning some players have to be moved out for this to work.
