Next in line should be whoever scouted Carter and told the GM that Carter was a play making center for Nash. While you can't really label him as selfish he is a very dimensional player. He shoots from all angles. Top 5 in the league in shots in the past couple years should really tell you something. Christ, all the scout and the GM had to do was just do a few stat searches on the internet to figure that out. Must have been more to it. Maybe getting another "big" name in there to drawl fans? Wouldn't be my first choice for that reason either.

JVR - I expected this. After such an amazing playoffs last year, he didn't have any more room to go up - only down. I think that was JVR's ceiling. Briere - He's up and down and always has been. But it's different then Hartnel's being up for 3 weeks, down for 3 weeks roller-coaster. IMO Briere goes for a good 4-5 months and then back down for a month or 2. I think by the new year you'll see him back up to 2 goals every 4-5 games. Just a guess obviously.

Richards is exactly what the Kings have been looking for in a 2nd line center for decades and he’s proving to be exactly as advertised. It took a while for him to get used to his new teammates, but short handed goals, power play goals and a +3 defensively Richards will only get better. GRADE: A Simon Gagne Probably Lombardi’s best signing yet and benefiting not from playing with his old linemate in Richards but on the top line with Williams and Kopitar and has repeatedly come up with timely goals. GRADE: A Justin Williams I’m still not convinced he’s first line material but he’s been working his tail off this season and is making Kopitar and Gagne look really good. Last season at this time Williams had 9 goals and 12 assists and didn't have a consistent left winger, so 3 and 12 is a bit of an underperformance from him. Lets hope he stays healthy. GRADE: B

20 games in I have to say that Simmonds has creeped to the top of my list for the most frustrating flyer. Hartnel and Carle are a close second but have seemed to pick up the pace.

I was a little surprised by their slow start but weren't they in Europe to start the season? That tea, is going to be good for years to come. I'd rather not see the flyers face them in the finals. I fear it would lead to that empty feeling again. Although if the flyers don't make it to the finals I would like to see LA win. Time is running out for gagne's head.

Why didn't lavy give Bryz the start against the jets and bob the start against the islanders? I just don't understand that. Bryz was getting in the groove And played arguably his best game the other night.
