  1. @Polaris922 Um.....care to retract?

    http://penguins.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=56510

Please note, that when the Pens went to change to the gold and black, the Bruins officially protested to the league, saying those colours are exclusively Bruins property. Just cause the Pirates wore that colour scheme, does not make it right. Same city, totally different sport...not much of leg to stand on there. Using your logic, the Flyers could infringe upon the Wild colour's tomorrow, but based on the fact that the Eagles used to wear Kelly Green.

I said PITTSBURGH colors first. Because the Pirates wore them as a professional team before the Boo-ins.

My guess is Hornquists goal totals go up 20-30% playing with Malkin while Neals drop the same playing with....a washed up Roy? LOL.

Then again, now that Neal is playing in Cookes division maybe the two of them concuss each other while trying to take each others knees out.

Neal's career just went into the shitter. He needs someone to feed the puck and Nashville just doesn't have it!

Horny's goal totals the past few years.....discounting the injury riddled year 2 years ago where he only played in 24 games....

    30

    21

    27

    22

Quite respectable numbers considering the medicore talent he was surrounded with in the putrid Preds offense. He's a virtual lock to have career highs in goals and points. Since his best season previously netted 30 goals in Nashville, I'd say he could quite easily score 40 goals next year. Adding 10 goals when he will be playing 5 on 5 with Crosby or Malkin AND be on the Pens top pp....that is not unreasonable at all. I say he scores 42 goals next year.

I get your thinking Jammer I just hesitate to assume he's going to exceed Neal's production until it happens. I expected Hossa to tear up the league on Sid's wing and got zilch. Just trying to measure what we know rather than potential. Not saying it won't happen, just cautiously optimistic.

  4. Hartnells contract was too long. If it was 2 or 3 years, I'd have no problem keeping him.

It's been mentioned that it was a deal to get rid of 2 years of contract.

Hardly justifies the sudden criticism and loss of support. Makes me wonder if its a knee-jerk to his being shipped out. Hartnell is a better player than Umberger recently despite his problems so all but the two years favors Hartnell. And I'm reading a lot of people happy with this trade. Just going with the flow??

    Neal > Hornqvist

But Hornqvist will go to the tough spots Neal was afraid of. So we'll just have to see what that becomes.

Jokinen was no great loss. Dupuis is a much better player and his presence on Sid's wing will more than offset the lack of Joker on Malkin's.

The loss of Glass especially is a plus.

Add Spaling and Comeau and we're a plus.

Loss of Niskanen hurt, but Erhoff should offset that pretty easily and an even there.

Orpik wasn't the man he used to be. Like I've said before I am a big fan of his, but he needed to go. He's a 5/6 guy now at best, and I'd much rather he go so Depres or Bortuzzo get the ice.

So in my opinion the team got a pretty good upgrade overall.

  6. So Tocchet has been hanging out at a coffee shop nearby where some if my coworkers stop for a break. He talks to them quite a bit apparently. I've spoken to him before but this is turning into a regular thing I guess. He told them yesterday a lot if his plans and ideas for toughening up the Pens lineup and expectations of players like Downie. Could be an interesting season...
