B Schenn to coyotes?

Why would we want to lose Briere? We barely score any goals as it is.

Exactly. Everyone seems to be so worried about our D but where we really need help is in the goal-scoring dept.

Getting Simmonds back tomorrow (hopefully) will help, and Hartnell should be playing in 2 weeks or so...After that we can see what we need.

I wouldn't trade away a 21-year old 2nd-year kid who's shown plenty of intelligence and toughness, solid point-production and good foot speed. He's only going to get stronger on the puck. For me he's part of the "core" that shouldn't be traded until at least 3 or 4 years have gone by... when we'll have some indication of what he'll produce in the NHL.

With your forwards healing don't forget the importance a good puck moving defenseman has to your offense. I think it's part of your production problem.

This is such a shortened season and several injuries to compound the situation, we can't honestly make an assessment on our young players. At the end of the season Anaheim has a few forward UFA's to complement our Centers. We do need to look at our Defense but in a patient way, we aren't reloading we ARE rebuilding, with that many rookies that played last year and so many young players now. We are in a rebuilding situation. We just happen to have the highest point production for rookies in the league last year.

We have a few vets, but the core of our team is young. It's hard to be in this situation when we're use to having Pronger and Carle complement each other Coburn and Timo with Mez and his complement. That was solid D. We lost our High Mobility D in Carle and the calming Veteren leadership in Pronger. Those are big losses, two key positional Defensemen, and the trickle affect it caused we are witnessing. We did add toughness on D in Grossman and Luke Schenn. Mez is offensive minded so losing him bottlenecks our Defensive mobility as well. We just need a solid mobile defensemen that has good stickhandleing skills and we should be in a good position. Someone mentioned bringing back our Harvard grad forward back(Powe?) and putting him on Defense. I like that idea.

We seem to pick solid forwards. What if we converted these Forward picks into Defensemen and tell them we have a spot for them on D. Imagine if B. Schenn or Coots were our D, imagine them joining the rush, they are Defensive minded with an eye for offense. In the event we were slim on our Forward corps. we could put these guys back on the Wing or Center and when we had our injured Forwards back, they could go back to playing Defense. This way we wouldn't have to trade away our talents, and when the market opened up for an All Star Defensemen we would be able to pick one up.

Crazy thoughts on a crazy day.

What's in your backpack?

He's not exactly lighting it up, and he's a liability in the defensive zone. He's generally unreliable at faceoffs too. What exactly is he bringing in the regular season?

The Flyers should stand pat with the current line up and let the chips fall where they may. In the off season, assess the team and take advantage of the contract buy outs and other rules that we problably don't know about.

At some point you have to stop tinkering and let things grow

Very true, chemistry is a tricky thing in hockey.

  • 3 weeks later...

i dont see this trade happening the only good prospects the flyers could get in exchange is

Oliver Ekman-Larsson & Mikkel Bødker which PHX will not deal.. in my opinion the only way i see this happening is for a vet d man or future draft picks. Although I do believe Brayden Schenn would be beneficial to The Coyotes Offense

Schenn is 3rd on the team in points with the best shooting percentage of anyone that matters. He hits like a truck and sits 4th on the team in that category (his brother is 1st) He's 21. He's 2nd on the team in plus minus (behind his brother)

Ya, let's get rid of that before he becomes better.
