OccamsRazor
I have to say I like this hire. I think he can get a lot out of this roster. Will like to see what the Oiler fans think of this. Edited May 30, 2019 by OccamsRazor
JR Ewing
a) Worst kept secret in hockey for the last two weeks. b) Dave Tippett has a history of making chicken salad out of chicken sh|t. c) I slept funny, and my neck is sore. 1

Oh this has been known for awhile? Well it's the first I had heard of it and I think he is a good hire for you guys. And yes he has made some nice Chicken salad and out if some pretty stinkyshit. Oilers need to find a goalie to lean on.

A screenshot of just yesterday on the Oilers subreddit: It's been like that for two weeks. Anyway, I'm good with the hire. I also was hoping that Todd Nelson would get another chance, but am quite good with Tippett.

He did the best he could with some older players like a past his prime Marty Turco. If they had a better goalie back then they could have been much better I think. He doesn't have the solid vets like Modano, Zubov, Sydor Boucher, Lehtenien and Morrows he had back then on the Oilers though. Who knows he can shape them into something respectable and more. Edited May 28, 2019 by OccamsRazor butchered Modano's name. Ooops

AJgoal
Of course, Carchidi is a moron, so Edmonton is probably safe.

Icechipper
Common Tippet scores: 0-0, 1-0, 2-1. But he won a cup with the Pens as an elite backchecker.

I thought I had mentioned already in the thread, but I may not have. I'm good with the hire though, as ever, I don't know how it will work out: -Tippett has a history of getting good results from very weak rosters. He damned near performed miracles in Phoenix. -I would have been alright with them hiring Todd Nelson, but I completely understand the need to bring in a veteran coach. I think that the last thing this team needs is another rookie. Edited May 29, 2019 by JR Ewing

I am hoping the GM makes a few good moves including getting rid of Hutton
yave1964
IMHO the perfect hire for this bunch as he has a history of pouring calming oil on troubled waters as the saying goes. In think that Holland made the absolute correct choice for this bunch.

That Lamb is an ex-Oiler is happenstance in this case. I offered his and Playfair's names because they've each spent six years as his assistants previously, and am guessing that Tippett will go back to the well at least once. I could also be completely wrong. Either way, if Lamb gets the job, it wouldn't have anything to do with him being a left-over from the good old days.
