Can You Take Me Higher?

Tonight the Mighty Blackhawks are in the Mile High City to take on the Colorado Avalanche. The Blackhawks will be without Sharpie tonight as it has been confirmed via non-Blackhawks sources that Sharpie has a fairly severe AC joint shoulder separation and usually with this type of injury the player is out 3-4 weeks. They did it again!

With 49 ticks left on the game clock, CarBomb put the fans at the Madhouse in Hysteria mode with a dramatic game winning goal. As a result three streaks continue, the Blackhawks consecutive point streak now stands at 30 games, they have an 11 game winning streak and the Razor is the first goalie in NHL history to start the season 10-0-0. Speechless

Last night was a "Wild" game… First, the Blackhawks Organ-I-zation provided an awesome tribute to Big Hoss playing his 1,000th NHL game. Then the pucked dropped and the game started in sloppy fashion. And with a sloppy start, Shawzam turned the puck over at the Blackhawks blue line which led to the Wild netting the opener. First, in honor of Big Hoss' 1,000th game this past Sunday against the Dead Wings, the beloved Blackhawks will honor his milestone by wearing commemorative jerseys during warmups and holding a pre-game ceremony tonight. The Blackhawks and Red Wings played in a classic yesterday and up until about 4 minutes left, when Red Wing Jonathan Ericsson took a delay of game for a puck over the boards, it looked like the Wings, through sheer effort and a stud performance by their tender Jimmy Howard were going to end the Blackhawks consecutive game point streak. "Hey We're Streaking"

It only took 12 seconds for the Blackhawks to put the game out of the Blues reach last night in St. Louis and today the Blues are singing the Blues. Ain't Nobody Leaving without Singing the Blues

That’s the headline going into tonight's Blackhawks/Blues game. One concern that I have is that whichever team is singing the blues after tonight's contest they will not be as hawt as Elisabeth Shue was at singing the blues. A "Shaw-Zam" goes out to Andrew Shaw who scored his 4th goal of the season (his first GWG) that was set up by gritty play by both O-du-ya and Bicks. But it wasn't all good for Shaw. Taking Care of Business

First, Congrats to the Blackhawks on setting the record! At 14-0-3, the Hawks set an NHL record by going 17 straight games without a regulation loss to open a season with the win over San Jose on Friday night. With their shootout victory over the Canuckleheads on Tuesday night, the beloved Blackhawks tied the record for the most successful start in NHL history (earning at least a point in their first 16 games of the season). A New Direction

Tomorrow night at the Air Canada Center against division rival the Toronto Maple Leafs the Buffalo Sabres will have a new coach behind the bench for the first time in 14 years. Lindy Ruff was relieved of his duties today as head coach of the struggling Sabres. Although I've been calling for it and after last night expected it I was still shocked. Accountability....I've tossed this word around a lot the past three years in reference to the Buffalo Sabres franchise. In my mind I know who I consider accountable to the Sabres play over the past three seasons, but I don't know who Terry Pegula holds accountable. Just not sure bout this Hawks team, I have some concerns. Sure the Hawks own the best record in the NHL but… in my opinion they are not the best team in the NHL. I realize you have to be lucky to be good and good to be lucky but I have a number of concerns with this team and the time to improve and experiment is now, during the season. Can We Expect More Shootouts in 2013?

In this shortened season there will be increased pressure for all teams to earn enough points to have the right to play for Lord Stanley’s Cup.
