  1. Well I thought maybe since I've been out of the loop I must have just missed hearing about all these future-changing trades that are going to be the pivot point for the organizational turnaround..... All those years we (rightly) complained about wasting the future to rent an expiring contract at the deadline, at least you could see the organization was trying to win. Hextall's rebuild with ripping down the salary cap prison he inherited and stocking up picks and trying to build from the farm up, at least you could see the organization was trying to build a competitive team. Then Chuck parachutes in.... Now? We got nothing. We have coach that I couldn't stand for 15 years before he got here. We have Chuck. And have Comcast who, like it or not, pretty much stayed out of hockey while Mr Snider was alive. There is no desire from ownership to win, aside from the affect it has on the bottom line. And this is what we get, purgatory. A building filled to the brim with stinkin' Rags fans. The Detroit Lions of hockey is where we're headed. STH for 30 years, former STH that is, I see no reason to go back, I already pay the cable company too much money for a subpar product.
  2. "Giroux wins Allstar MVP. That, along with Gritty = better than a CUP" overheard from Flyer mgmt" The worst part is that's a totally believable headline when your hockey team is owned by an entertainment company. I've spent more time watching the US women's team this weekend than I have watched of the Flyers for the past 2 weeks, sad but completely true
  3. And good to see you here as well my good man, along with Podes and Rux and Coach X et al, good to see some things stay the same
  4. Nice trip down memory lane there, a few names I haven't thought about in a loooong time. But I don't miss Kuato... Not here much over the last several years, but always a supporting member of this most excellent community. Thanks to everyone for keeping it going
  5. Congrats to Canada on an amazing comeback win!
  6. Ya no such luck, it's a whistle fest, although not entirely without reason to be fair....and the 5 on 3 was helpful Dumb penalty by Zamula at the second break there, haven't seem him enough to know if that's a habit of his or not.
  7. My 1988 self hates me for saying this, but I am happy for the real Caps fans (I know a couple, they really do exist) that have been waiting for this since the old Patrick Division days. Maybe that Iggle win in the Supe made me soft.... But screw Dale Hunter, I hope he has car trouble and diarrhea on the way to the parade
  8. March 18 in Flyers History...... 1971 - Looks like they beat the stinkin' Rangers 2-1 at the Spectrum, so that's something 1994 - Flyers acquire that man-beast Rob DiMaio from Tampa for Jim Cummins and a the Flyers' 4th rounder in 1995 1995 - Eric Lindros notches a Hat Trick with OT GW against the Panthers and long time Flyer-killer / future Flyer (killer) John Vanbiesbrouck 2011 - Richards and Carter were presumably really hung over at practice 2012 - Scott Hartnell stays up long enough to score with 1 second left in OT to beat the Penguins. Out. Freakin'. Standing.
  9. Well, that wouldn't be a book, it would be a video collage......
  10. Ok, how about..... "Rocks Dumber Than I" by Sarah Palin 'Cause that's one dumb bitch right there bwahahaha
  11. Great entry Scott I saw Gordie play at the Spectrum in Philly in that final season of his career. I don't honestly remember who won or much else about the night, but I'm proud to be able to say I saw him skate. A few years ago when the Flyers retired Mark's #2, I was saddened to see the condition he was in at this point in life. Tough to see heroes like that.
  12. I'm looking good in the office pool, but I'd trade that in a heartbeat to have the Craps pot one in OT last night
  13. There once was a man from Manhattan Whose health was so bad he took statins When the Rangers do win He just smiles and he grins So I hope that he frowns like George Patton
  14. The Rags got real lucky That no goal call was sucky If that had been Crosby Conspiracies would haunt me Of course none of this matters Owners wallets just get fatter As we head down the pike How long till the next strike?
  15. Coulda used that 5% bump a few years ago! It's only mattered to the Flyers once in 47 years, so barely a blip on my radar
