  1. @bunnyman Nice gloves! Definitely digging the shiny bling lol. I personally don't wear any visor whatsoever with my helmet when I play out which is kind of nice, no fog worries. More risk of course but hey it's worth the risk I think.
  2. St Louis should have been Captain years ago.
  3. @bunnyman You should post some pictures man!
  4. The book I was using must have been slightly out of date.
  5. @goalnut3133 Thanks, basically just sanded down a regular stick, made some stencils of the KOHO logo, traced them on using a fine tip sharpie, paint them in with an enamel based paint, do the same for the red stripes, and put on two clear coats of wood protector and you got your finished product.
  6. Just thought I'd take some time to share with you guys some interesting facts surrounding the most storied pro sports trophy in North America. Did you know...that Jean Beliveau's name appears more time on the cup than any other person's? His name appears 17 times, 10 as a player and 7 as a coaching staff member. Did you know...Henri Richard has won the most cups as an NHL player? He won the cup 11 times, all of them with the Montreal Canadiens. Did you know...If you are an NHL player, it is considered bad luck to touch the cup before you've won it? Did you know...there are three official Stanley Cups? The 1892 "original bowl" is kept at the Hockey Hall of Fame, the 1963 "Presentation Cup" is the Cup awarded to the players and staff upon winning the Finals, and the 1993 "Replica Cup" is the cup that is permanently on display at the HHOF in Toronto. Did you know...the current Cup is made of a nickel and silver alloy whereas the original bowl was made of silver? Did you know...the current version of the cup weighs a whopping 34.5 lbs? Did you know...When Lord Stanley purchased the original cup he paid $48.67 USD which is equivalent to $1,295 in today's money? Did you know...currently 12 women have their names on the cup
  7. @bunnyman They do hurt, the chest piece is a modified one piece chest protector that I cut the arms off of and I just use the torso piece now. The arms guards are a pair of SA95 Cooper arm guards. Yeah, they are pretty thin but I'm 21 and I can take it. The bruises are just temporary, I get hit in a bare spot just above my arm pit the other day, didn't feel good and I had a bruise there and last night I got hit there again so not the greatest feeling but I'm fine with it. The pads don't weigh too much, if you get holes in the pads that's where they tend to get water logged. I'd say it's more casual than anything. Varying skill levels with each player that shows up. Some are wicked good, others are average, and some are novice. As for me I'd say I'm intermediate. Nope, there's this wonderful site called eBay. Very useful but very expensive lol. I got 4 sets of pads including those. Just in case one goes to hell.
  8. @jammer2 Yeah, all but like 3 articles of equipment are 1980's or earlier.
  9. Attached are a few pictures of what I wear when I play at games here in my hometown.
  10. The shootout shouldn't even be in the game in the first place...
  11. Just one more thing the NHL higher ups will suddenly change. This game is starting to look more like golf than hockey...What's next? Fans aren't allowed to cheer?
  12. @yave1964 I agree 110%. Fighting is part of the game and always should be. The NHL doesn't have enough fans to ban fighting and still keep them around. Everybody in management positions in the NHL is trying to figure out how to make the game more popular yet they want to ban fighting? Absurd! The NHL will lose a lot of fans if they ban fighting. It sells tickets and the fans love it. Like it or not it sells the game of hockey. This is just another moral crusade put on by the NHL higher ups in order to take their attention away from other more pressing matters. In the end, if this goes through hockey will sink in popularity. I respect Yzerman, but this idea I cannot agree with. I think it's a terrible idea and as you said Yave it will lead to more reckless play as well as a giant dip in attendance and popularity in the sport.
  13. As many of you know the company, Cooper Canada Ltd. use to be a very popular and common name associated with hockey equipment. I'm sure almost all of you who ever played hockey in 70's or later owned or used at least one piece of Cooper hockey equipment. The name was everywhere! This is a brief history of one of the greatest hockey equipment manufacturers ever. Cooper was started in 1949 when Jack Charles Cooper bought a company by the name of General Leather Goods which prior to the purchase had made ski and snowshoe harnesses. Due to the Great Depression they started to venture into the manufacture of hockey equipment such as shin guards and gloves. As the years went by they also ventured into other sports such as Lacrosse and Baseball. Cooper was responsible for many innovations that you see today such as pioneering the usage of team-colored hockey equipment such as goalie leg pads as well as the use of nylon, high density foam, and modern plastics into their equipment. During it's hay-day in the 1970's and 1980's Cooper virtually dominated the hockey equipment market, especially in the goaltending equipment area with Cooper leather leg pads and popular goalie catchers such as the Cooper GM6. However, Cooper was also criticized for some of it's products such as the XL7 helmet which was deemed unsafe by the NHL. Regardless, Cooper remained popular through the 1980's. The hockey division of Cooper was eventually acquired by Canster Sports Inc., the parent company of Bauer Hockey in 1990. Bauer was eventually bought out by Nike a mere 5 years later. Within a few years the Cooper name was phased out from usage on Bauer Hockey's equipment. Today, you can still find Cooper hockey equipment on sites like eBay as well as hockey auction sites. Sometimes you can even find unused Cooper equipment. I personally found a pair of unopened Cooper SA95 goalie arm guards on eBay and bought them. They were quite stiff of course but now they are broken in pretty well. Cooper equipment continues to be highly sought after by collectors and hockey folk alike especially goaltender leg pads and helmets. Most of the equipment I currently own is of Cooper origin.
  14. How is this even a debate. Clearly the Sabres are better. The Flyers have so much to be desired. It's just a mess in Philly right now.
  15. Yes you do, that would be adorable. I should get a picture of my cat watching some Wings games with me.
  16. I love the way the Wings are playing this year. Hoping it continues!
  17. That is the cutest thing I've seen all day You should get that bunny a Blues jersey!
  18. @hf101 @goalnut3133 Thanks guys. I had to do some research for this one. Also had a book on the history of the mask as well I referenced to. Yes, it seems quite strange to think of goaltenders not wearing masks. And yes hf101 women did play hockey back then, another fact that even surprised me!
  19. @bunnyman I own an old red Cooper helmet that I wear with my gear when I skate out. Very comfortable, I'd like to get a Jofa VM helmet though. And yeah the gloves I have now are from the 70's and they are broken in pretty well thankfully. And thanks, I thought the avatar looked cool as well. Yours is pretty cool too, I love rabbits.
