  1. he got rocked buti thik the hit was not ment for the head,
  2. In just his second NHL game, Bellows buried his first-career goal, and then went on to score his second goal of the night, which wound up being the game-winner. "That was a pretty special moment," Bellows said. "I was pretty speechless at the time and didn't know what to do. Once I got back to the bench it was forget about it, move on and focus on the next shift." While the Isles had a rocky first period, Bellows showcased his sharp release. Bellows had two looks on net, including one crisp wrist shot on the fly that got Quick to make a lateral slide. Bellows earned his first NHL recall on Feb. 3 after showcasing a tremendous effort and leading the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in goals (16) and points (24). For the second game, Bellows has played on the wing of the Isles third line consisting of Brassard and Dal Colle and is making a sturdy case for coach Trotz to keep him there.
  3. Barzal was 0.402 of a second behind McDavid last season. Coming into the contest this year there was no indication that Barzal could de-thrown McDavid. But with a 13.175 lap, Batzal edged Connor McDavid by the finest of margins. He beat out McDavid by 0.040 of a second.
  4. Ilya Sorokin has accomplished just about everything he can in the KHL. The New York Islanders 2014 third-round selection has been putting up video game numbers in the KHL for a half-decade at this point. Yesterday, Sorokin recorded his 55th career shutout in the KHL. That brings him to a .934 save percentage and a 1.54 goals against average on the season.
  5. set to report to The Bridge After over three months away from the team, winger Joshua Ho-Sang is returning to the Islanders and will head to their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport
  6. Ilya Sorokin doesn't even consider an extension with CSKA at the moment. The earliest he would look into the offered terms is March. They would be shocking but I don't think it makes him stay Over the last five years in the KHL, Sorokin has averaged a .937 save percentage and a 1.40 goals against average. The guy is the best goalie in the world outside of the NHL.
  7. For the first time in franchise history, the New York Islanders have picked up a point in 16 straight games. None of the Al Arbour dynasty era teams were able to accomplish this feat, just those "due for a regression" Barry Trotz Islanders. Unbelievable. It's been 41 days now without a regulation loss, going back to October 11, and the Islanders are 15-0-1 over that span. Somehow they still aren't in first, thanks to Washington, but they are knocking on the doorstep with games in hand.
  8. It's been a bit of a slow news week thus far for New York Islanders fans. But Tuesday, KHL reporter Igor Eronko tweeted that CSKA goalie, and Islanders prospect, Ilya Sorokin has intentions of playing in the NHL next season.
  9. Ilya Sorokin made 21 saves on Saturday for his third shutout of the season to help CSKA remain in first place of the KHL with a 16-3-0 record. In 11 games this season, Sorokin has gone 9-1-1 and registered 1.25 goals against average and a save percentage of .947.
  10. Five games into the KHL season and Ilya Sorokin already has two shutouts. Sorokin recorded his 50th and 51st career KHL shutouts - regular season and playoffs combined - after putting up a pair of clean sheets against SKA St. Petersburg and Admiral Vladivostok. Not a bad start for the Islanders' 2014 third-round pick (78th overall), who is playing in his fifth season in the KHL. Through five games of the 2019-20 season, Sorokin has registered a 3-1-1 recorded and logged a 1.15 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage.
  11. Islanders prospects claw back from three-goal deficit in rookie game in Allentown The New York Islanders top prospects carved out a character 5-4 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers prospects on Wednesday night at PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Oliver Wahlstrom scored the shootout winner, as the Isles rallied from a three-goal deficit in a dramatic rookie contest. Felix Bibeau, David Quenneville, Samuel Bolduc and Otto Koivula scored in regulation for the Islanders. "I thought it was a pretty intense game for a rookie game," Bridgeport Sound Tiger Head Coach Brent Thompson said. "The work ethic, the character, the guys pulled together, they kept pushing and they got rewarded. I'm obviously very happy with the first game and what we can build from there." The Isles came out strong in the opening frame but put themselves on their heels after relinquishing back-to-back goals, 34 seconds apart in the waning two-minutes of play. The Flyers then cushioned their lead 3-0, five-minutes into the second period. Despite the deficit, the Islanders displayed discipline and were eventually rewarded for their efforts. Bibeau got the Islanders going in the second period with a goal on the doorstep off of a feed from Koivula. Quenneville doubled cut the deficit down 3-2, with a one-timer from the point midway through the second period. The Flyers retook a two-goal lead, six minutes into the third period, but the Islanders continued to press and tied the score with nods from Bolduc and Koivula.
