  1. Definitely a cheap shot but it was Neal so I am not surprised. Flagrant,no and a 2 minute penalty is fair. His penchant for head shots though is going to end up with him getting his own bell rung if he continues to play like he is. Flyers fans have harped on him and his antics for years so anything said about him here will be construed as "sour grapes".
  2. Per Paul Stuart ( pretty reliable source) http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=58828#.UytBwPiFEvU.twitter
  3. I guess I have just watched the signal(high sticking) then subsequent wave off so many times that I took it for granted.
  4. Can't say that I like it but this^^^^^^^^. When they replayed it you could see ViLC had played it with a high stick. I also believe that Schenn was the next guy to touch it making it a dead play. It hit the crossbar and went straight down and I don't think it touched even Raanta before Schenn knocked it in. If the puck had been touched by an hawk after the high stick and then scored by Schenn it should have counted.
  5. Except for they get a larger percentage of the revenue to cover that unless I have that wrong. I remember that being part of the CBA. IMO that is a good thing that will ultimately help keep the teams in Canada. I don't know that I like teams being able to pick and choose which teams they will help(by keeping back salary) on a trade to maintain the cap floor for themselves and keep another team who might be over the limit except for this generous move.....
  6. How the heck is that ALLOWED if the players have been traded? Does that mean they absorb the cost for another team keeping that team's cap hit lower and thus maintain being above the cap floor themselves?
  7. Even with the struggling Canadian dollar, revenues are expected to exceed 3.6 billion dollars. Revenue sharing means that the weaker canadian dollar gets them a larger slice of the revenue to compensate any short fall. So the bottom line is the owners and the players are both getting rich, it's just that after the last CBA, the Owners are keeping a larger percent to sqaubble amongst themselves about. One other thought i had the other day was what is done about teams like Buffalo who the last time I looked at capgeek was somewhere around 33 million for payroll? I am pretty certain that is below the cap floor......
  8. I always liked when Pang and Davidson were partners. Both were intelligent and funny and some of the least biased announcers out there.
  9. Due to the fact that most contracts have out clauses that allow a NFL player to be dumped for a minimal buyout/payout. It allows WAY more leniency than the NHL contracts.
  10. Zatkoff has not looked out of place with the big club but he was not tested near as much as Fluery was the last game. Fluery took the last 2 games against the Flyers in the shorts as far as help from the rest of the team. Has Vokoun gotten any ice time since his return, even AHL for rehab?
  11. Well I will call this weekend a step in the right direction. Luke Schenn looks 1000 times better paired with MacDonald than he did when paired with Mez.
  12. Not sure what I am "whining" about..I am merely pointing out that the refs have taken away obvious points from 2 teams in the Metro division so far...to make it even in the division they have a few teams to go. That is called the BCF...or Bettman Correction Factor.
  13. OK, 1 more team lost at least a point because of poor reffing in the Metropolitan Division. Now only 6 more bad calls need to be made(against any opponents in the Metro) to even up the rest of the division.....that is much easier than admitting the referees have screwed up........ This is taking into account the call that screwed Hartnell and the Flyers out of at least a point the other night.
  14. I think Sean Couturier will disagree with you.....Sure did not take long to show his colors....
  15. LOL! I was literally referring to TOI Time laying ON Ice...With Briere and Carcillo gone we don't have anyone that can do the head flail with quite the same flair...
  16. The people who own the Causeway Diner Restaurant here on Merritt Island are from there and I know their son is a big fan. I have had several convos with him about his rebuilding team. I can guarantee you he would be willing to fly up and join the protest as it were.
  17. I hope the fans can get a good turn out for this. The only real recourse you have against an owner/gm is to embarrass them worse than they embarrass themselves....especially if you can do it on TV. Isles Nation...for their sakes I hope that is not just referring to the 2 bozos who hang out at the tunnel entrance trying to get acknowledgement from the players....
  18. What is the over/under of falling down on the ice for Hartnell vs Malkin's dives? Who will have more? I know Hartnell can't skate but I also know that Malkin's diving skills are second to none.......
  19. It was the intent, not the result and they were Pittsburgh announcers...I would expect nothing less from them. So the team with the reputation for being Bullies and not the darlings of the NHL has more suspensions....I would have never thought that......... <_<
  20. However, if my GM thinks that defecating on me is Okay then I am going to disagree. MSL has been in the league a long time and been a good representative of the league. No my wife and son are not going to have the be all end all say in my career but I am also going to try and do what is best for us as a family. The fact of the matter is that Stevie Y. gave MSL all the ammo he needs to go out on top and walk away from the Lightning with no remorse. Marty does not have to play another game unless he chooses to. One of the big problems for the Lightning is that Stamkos is watching just how the star players (VLC and MSL) have been treated and they are probably going to have to pay dearly to keep him there.
  21. That would kind of go hand in hand with the high sticking penalty he almost got for getting hit in the face with a stick...........
  22. As much as I hate him, even I could score a few points if I am put on a line with Crosby. He may be an egotistical whiny bitch but he still has skills no matter how much I hate him.....and trust me, I hate him with a vengeance......Kunitz is another guy who would probably not even break the 3rd line on 90 percent of the NHL teams but has found his niche in Pittsburgh.
  23. Personally, I thought it was so late and away from the puck that it should have been at least a 5 minute major. Ruutu appears to be trying to steal his brother's penchant for cheap hits. What are the odds of him seeing any discipline for this hit?
  24. I would like to argue that point........well, not so much. Flyers played a great game(both teams did really) but once again the referees have stolen point(s) from another team. These refs would have trouble calling a mites game.....
  25. @Polaris922 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P4wdhy12-o Although I can remember a few on the Flyers alone, it is tough when 99% of the stuff out there is for his "victimization" at the hand of Thornton. I stand by my "he is no angel" remark. Neal however would have been a better choice for Pitt's cheap shot artist than Orpik is. That I can agree with.
