  1. it's not like caufield has been the only player scoring goals throughout the playoffs, it's team sport every one has been stepping up. the fact you have to be physically built to win in the playoffs.
  2. last night's game pretty much proved everything.
  3. caufield would be nice but you are not looking at the whole picture, montreal was already a good team before caufield got there, they are a big and physical team that's why they are hanging with vegas. caufield on a small team like the flyers wouldnt make him better. it's not about one player either
  4. i think fans really have to take step back and look at this defense, realistically i dont think we are hamilton or jones from fixing this defense, if they dont get these guys, it's telling me this defense is not very good, it means we have to get more pieces and overspending on one guy isnt going to fix it. they need to spend on a few more pieces. that goes for the same for top 6 and bottom 6, there's so many questions about this roster and when you have so questions about the roster you are not going to overpay on one guy, you are going to have to retool this whole team, you dont want to be like sharks overpaying karlson and say oh crap this roster isnt very good and now we are stuck in cap hell again and we have to rely on draft picks to fix this team and it's going to set this team way back out of contention window. my point is i think we need more than 1 player to fix this team and not a jones or hamilton away. this is honest and hard truth for anyone to swallow, i think hextall has really screwed this team up.
  5. i dont know, bringing all these young players back it has to signal that there's big things coming because they wouldnt waste so much money on youth and waste them in minors for nothing.
  6. if you look at all four teams in the final four, their rosters only 4 players under the age of 26 meaning all the teams have alot of depth of experienced players. experience matters in the playoffs, if you have more 2 year and rookies in your lineup, more of a case you are not going to make it far. as a flyers fan, i knew we werent going to make the playoffs because we lost so much experience it hurt us, you dont win by relying on inexperience players which we have 11 of them, it's impossible.
  7. nope and that's the big problem with the coach hatters, they cant face reality this team isnt good enough, they still think everything can be savaged and cup can be won and the problem with that is, you have an aging not good enough core, questionable goaltending, i mean you cant have these questions and expect to win. i think vasilevskiy is awesome goalie, i think he's a big part of tampa's success, i dont think we give him enough credit, he reminds me of young bernie, he's so hard to score against. the guy is a machine. hopefully carter hart can rebound next year.
  8. yeah i dont think they are going to blow this team up and rebuild thru the draft, that's what a rebuild is. what i do believe they are going to do is retool this roster meaning whatever players they are getting rid of, they are probably are going to get players and not picks back for them.
  9. it's funny how montreal has a coach that's not popular and dont even know anything about him and they are in the final four, it says alot about how it's more on the players than just having the big prize coach because they are a deep team and i actually picked them to make the playoffs. i mean no disrespect to trotz but i think if islanders signed JT i think the islanders would have been in trouble because they wouldnt be a deep team as a result of all the money being spent on JT. i think cooper was another person i had no clue on who he was and he won a cup last year because tampa's roster was so deep and had great goaltending in visky. i mean you look at the most popular hires in coaches like joel q, he couldnt get florida past the first round because their roster is not very deep. if you just look at the rosters in the final four, they are all very deep rosters and great goaltending. my point is i think we have to stop looking at stars and popular hires when it comes to coaches and players and just look at the goaltending and how deep the roster is to compete because i dont think it matters how great the coaches are, if the roster isnt deep and you dont have great goaltending. coaches are not miracle workers.
  10. if they are , then they are not competitors and good players. competitors have to have hard skin to win in this league, it cant be boo hoo, the coach doesnt like me kind of crap. it's either you man up and rise above it or you are a loser.
  11. what he's referring to is that one comment that he said that hart needs to work harder like how is that throwing him under the bus? he was struggling, anyone with a brain knows he wasnt playing right, he was doing things you dont see him do last year, i know the d was bad but there was stoppable pucks that were just going thru him, he wasnt right this year and he was battling injuries last year and it's probably affecting his reflexes. goalie injuries are never a good sign for a young goalie
  12. im pretty sure they are and that's why im suggesting we have to get rid of the big contracts and focus on depth on this team. this team is not deep at all and we have to hope that hart turns it around as well.
  13. didnt berube win a cup with st.louis and he was great in the minor league system with st.louis? i think big name coaches mean nothing, it's about buying in the system, have players that fit the system and want to win.
  14. and that's what we need, we need players that buy in and want to win, if they have to take a few steps back for this team to be better so be it because this current team isnt getting it done and we have to make major changes otherwise we are going fall into the det and buffalo territory.
  15. it looks like we are in for a major retool: Elliotte Friedman on players and teams looking for changes, Canucks timeline - Sportsnet.ca (around the 9:15 mark) In response to an inquiry about the possibility of Travis Konecny being available, Friedman says that he believes the Flyers won't move Joel Farabee and probably not Carter Hart, but are basically considering anyone else on the roster. Says some teams will put a lot of players out there, then pull them back off the market, so it could be that kind of situation but hears the Flyers are considering some really interesting things.
  16. i know im all over the place with what to do and what not to do when it comes to fixing this team. i really think they have to get rid of the big contracts and sign some cheap good depth players. i really think overpaying for a free agent is going to come back and bite us because of the lack of depth on this roster and we are going to be the same position as last year. if getting of ton of vets to help the depth on this roster will make this team a contender then im all for it.
  17. if you want to look at montreal, spend money on d, spend less on forwards,( dont be like toronto) and sign players that came from championship teams and hopefully hart will turn into carry price.
  18. tampa's d players is from other teams accept hedman, why is that a problem? not every team has a strength of developing forwards and d, you have go around it instead of trying to make it work. we cant develop d, that's the fact, nothing wrong with that, we have to get experienced d, why is that a problem? and i say it again everything about prospects and not about winning. you win with what you are good it and not putting a square peg in a round hole.
  19. sometimes you got to stop blaming the coaches and start looking at the roster and see what is missing with this team.
  20. yes, especially if the organization wants to win now, they are not going to add more kids, that's taking steps back. heck i know when fletch didnt add any vets to this roster last offseason, i knew this team was taking a step back because you wont get compete by adding more youth because it's learning a curve and they can hit walls, that's not what we need right now. even if we dont get the big time players, we need to add vets around this team. heck sean courturier even said this team that we need more experience, he's not dumb. it's the prospect obsessed fans that dont get it and biased against vets because they think you can win by just adding more youth which is impossible and dont even make an example of what teams have actually done this and won cups. i mean look at toronto when they lost their two big vets in jt and muzzin that hurt them big time, relying on youth themselves is bad. montreal had all their vets and it's working.
  21. its rigged, thats why im saying dont tank because gary wont give it to us.
  22. this is how the eagles won the superbowl because they brought in players from great teams which turned that culture into a championship team, the flyers need those same ingredients. it's not just about talent, it's about talent and culture.
  23. is winning a cup not a priority anymore and it's all about players that you hope they become something? because why you are afraid they are going to win cups someplace else, who cares. the fact is this team is not very good, we need defense around hart and not bring back the same players that might choke around him again like what goalie would want to play behind this d? it shouldn't matter who goes moved, it's about this team winning that's it. if it's about the players then you really have lost your winning mentality.
  24. they have change the culture by adding players that know how to win just like fletch has to do with this team, it's the same issues.
