  1. Oh boy... So Giroux is *the* problem now, eh? Look... the team is a mess right now; it's hard to argue the point. And honestly speaking, I don't see a way out of it. But they are looking in wrong places. The Flyers have an idiot of a GM, who can give both Clarkie and Homer a run for their money. Atkonson for Jake... Ok. I don't have much of an issue for trade. But that's where it stops with me. Everything else he did turned out to be dumb, meaningless, void of any logic moves. But yeah, let's trade Giroux. That will get this team out of the hole they are in right now.
  2. I was at the game this afternoon, thanks to a pair of tickets at a discounted price someone else gave me. What a sad display... I could write "War and Peace" on what's wrong with this team.... And it reminded me why I stopped caring about this team long time ago.
  3. @radoran I agree with much of what you typed. And to a certain degree, I agree they are more fun to watch this season. But I am just looking at this team in a slightly different context, I guess. I am looking at the team who last won the Cup when Gerald Ford was the President. We've been through decades... not years.... DECADES of sheer disappointment and endless excuses (injuries, Lindros, bad schedules, poor coaching, Clarke, etc.)... to the point of me feeling nauseated. You know... if we were talking about Seattle Kraken, I would gladly take making the playoffs as a big success. But after the decades of futility and disappointment, I don't care about them being fun to watch. That's not going to cut it; not for me anyway. The Devils were not a fun-to-watch team when they won those multiple Cups. We are talking almost 50 years worth of futility. It's almost half of a century!!! I want results! I think it's justifiable.
  4. A lot has happened in this game, but one thing has underlined the problem for me: the Flyers still can't beat a contender. Not today, anyway. And I couldn't care less about shootouts any more than anybody else, but that to me was an epitome of the problem. The Bolts have their best guys - both burying the shots. Our two best guys didn't. The skillset of the Tampa, Florida, and Carolina is just on a whole different level.
  5. Not that it's even on the horizon, but can he waive the NMC if there is an amicable situation for both him and the Wild, at some point down the road?
  6. I have mixed feeling about Dvorak. One one hand, he certainly has skills. But he has not come even close to matching his OHL stats in the NHL. I am sure the Coyotes were getting frustrated and impatient with his development. But his contract is insanely appealing: $4.4 mil through the 2024-25 season. That's probably the main consideration behind why the Habs made this move and did it so quickly, thinking that other teams were lining up. Wonder though whether with this move, combined with what they did early this summer, Phoenix decided to not even bother this year. I can see Clayton Keller becoming a face of this franchise, but does he have it what it takes? Looking at what thy lost (Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Connor Garland, and both of Adin Hill and Darcy Kuemper), I can't imagine they have any road but rebuild.
  7. This needed to be done. Let's be honest: he is the Flyers' MVP, whether we want to admit it or not.
  8. I'll probably pass this year. Too busy at work and at home. One league is plenty for me...
  9. I swear Fletch is trying to alternate good signings with terrible ones.... I guess making sure we don't get spoiled. To keep us honest, so to speak. Jesus... what can *possibly* be good about this signing.
  10. I didn't have a specific name in mind, no. But intuitively, something tells me that a contending team would perhaps be willing to pay more to land Jake... Despite all our aversion for him - albeit a deserve done - he still has quite a bit to offer. I don't know... but getting our second draft pick back, which we gave up to get freaking Ristolainen, would be nice.
  11. Glad he is finally outta here....But is that really the best we could do?
  12. Just unfathomable, really. To give up so much for an OK defenseman. Why??? What was he really thinking?? This is just so frustrating.
  13. This is why I can't even invest emotions in this team anymore... They are inherently out of clue.
  14. Man.... What a bunch of losers. Thank God I stopped investing any emotions into this team long time ago... If you go down, at least go down with dignity and pride. For Christ's sake, even the Sabers are showing more will than this pathetic bunch.
  15. The Bruins are going for it. And why not?! They had all the pieces in place to win it all this year even before the season started, and with this acquisition, they moved even closer. My Flyers, on the other hand.... what a disappointment. The season that had so many hopes and expectations... Just unbearable.
  16. They gave up. Pure and simple. Just gave up. It's time for a firesale. Keep the coach and let the losers go.
  17. @aziz Wow. Now *that's* the blast from the past. How are you, dude? I will tell you one thing. I still watch hockey, but I don't invest nearly as much emotions into this team as I used to. Not even close... My stress level is more important to me.
  18. I used to think that with this team, there is a never-ending, perennial issue of coach blaming, and that there is always going to be a scapegoat behind the bench, but not the players. But I think you may be on to something. And for the record, I keep AV in high esteem. I think he is a terrific coach. The only theory I have - and this is nothing but theory - is that the team just stopped responding to him. And if that's the case, this is an unsolvable situation and the only way to repair it is to can the coach. That said, my suspicion is AV is not going anywhere in the next year or so...
  19. And we were the favorites to at least make it to the finals? Ummmm. Yeah.....
  20. And this was supposed to be a breakdown team this year. What a disaster... This franchise doesn't deserve Jacob Markstrom.
  21. So what do the Wild fans think of Greenway now? For someone as big as he is, he skates quite well and he has a good hockey sense in front of the net. I also like his shot, but his release is something he needs to keep working on, in my opinion. I think with a good playmaker, he can be a really good power forward in this league.
  22. Well, this one has been painful to watch. The Flyers are missing Couturier in the worst possible way.
  23. Agreed. He is an unquestioned team's MVP. Well, he and Hart. The Flyers cannot afford to risk his health. I feel like with their depth, they can weather the storm for 2 weeks.
  24. I looked it up and that's the question that I found unanswered... Just about every source of info on this injury mentions that the recovery is 2-3 months. Yet the Flyers are putting his absence as a minimum of 2 weeks. I don't know... Either they just don't want to spread panic just yet, or they clearly know something we don't.
