  1. There is absolutely ZERO chance he sits for a game. Zero. I know what you're saying, but it just won't happen. I could see Lavi giving his ice-time a cut, or having him miss a shift or two, but scratching him? Nope.
  2. He looked alright... considering he was thrown in cold. Hard to get a true feeling of his abilities from a 20 mins segment. I'll say that it was pleasant to watch a flyers' goalie make a save without sliding out of position or losing his equipment. He looked quick and agile as well... hard not to though when his comparison is bryz. He also made a great clear of the puck during a pk... hadn't seen that in a while.
  3. I've been frustrated with him lately as well... Yes... he's collected his points on the powerplay. BUT... show up 5 on 5 sometime! There have been plenty of times in the past 10 games where someone needed to take the team on their back for a shift or 2. Luckily, Simmonds has been willing to do it. I don't expect G to be a top-3 player in the league or anything, but I expect more than this.
  4. T That type of hit seems to be spreading... PK Subban also hits like that... changes direction quickly and throws his back/ass at people. I say jump as he comes and just get your stick up and crack him in the upper back as he launches at you. Sure you'll sit for a game or 2... but you might be sitting for longer if you don't. Problem is, he's excellent at picking his spots and catching people napping. Maybe someone should just jump him and pummel the tar out of him.... might lose the game as a result, but if you're being blown out anyway...
  5. I'm a youngin' too, so I don't have the background of the 70s/80s flyers 5.) Richardson 4.) K. Johnsson 3.) Desjardins 2.) Pronger 1.) Kimmo I really did like Ragnarsson as well... he def. made the most of what abilities he had. A good warrior... would've made a great compliment to Kimmo as a pairing. No love for Adam Burt?.. Bundy?... Rathje?..
  6. From the few I've seen called this year.. actually one was on Sutter!... they blew the whistle right away.
  7. Well... it could be the old diamond in the rough find, but I'm more likely to think he's got some jump coming to a new team. We'll probably see the inevitable drop off in the next few games. I think he's one of those "is what he is" guys... like talbot. grinder, checker, decent speed, ok on draws,... a good role player like Ty Mcginn. I doubt he's the saviour though :-)
  8. WHAT!?... a pro-sports team MAY have been misleading with injury reports???
  9. Did Phlfly make a 2nd account? ;-p
  10. Pudding?... I say make the boards out of Coburn... he's the softest thing I know.
  11. Maybe it's b/c I watch so much international hockey (world juniors, spengler, etc.) that I don't see the big deal... Is a race for the icing REALLY that exciting?? I just picture that happening to our players... no thanks.
  12. I don't see why they shouldn't change the rule... I don't know the stat, but how many races are actually won at that last second. You see it every once in a while, but if you can save one broken leg per season? Worth the change imo.
  13. You really think Briere... w/ his performance... and his contract... is worthy of a 1st rounder???
  14. While I do feel he'd settle in quicker, (Mackinnon), I just see a lot of those moves Drouin relies on not working at the NHL level. So many of those junior d-men were fishing for the puck instead of putting him on his butt. A couple of times I saw drouin cutting across the goal mouth and I just pictured most NHL dmen decapitating him.
  15. Is it me, or does Mackinnon's game look easier to transfer to the NHL style game?? He looks like Nash to me... Drouin looks slick and all, but on many of those plays, I say to myself.. "An NHL defender stops that easily or kills that kid cutting across like that" Mackinnon seems to play more like an NHL'er already... using speed and his body instead of dangling all over the place begging for a concussion or knee blowout.
  16. Yeah, coots has reeeeeeeallly struggled this year. It's odd... i didn't notice his speed being such an issue last year. Heck, he shadowed Malkin, who isn't exactly slow. But this year, he looks like he's skating in mud. It will be awful to see him develop into another Pat. Sharp, but if there's a Dman out there... Skating is such a dicey area... you can always improve it, but it's kinda like "ice vision"... you're either born with it or not.
  17. That was a pretty brutal call... To think... Nash's elbow?...no call... but that?... penalty?
  18. Perhaps there simply aren't any reasonable moves out there. With the whole internet/fantasy/trade speculation world we live in, people assume there are tons of trades to be had at any moment. (not saying you ctid) And if there are trade offers... maybe they Flyers are being asked to give up too much for too little. They're in a bad spot and I'm sure the vultures are circling... heck knows I'd be trying to steal on of the flyers' young centres in I had the chance. I guess a big move could be Lavi as well... but unless you want boucher or ruff, what's the point? No point in trying to make a splash right now... hopefully WE can be the ones to fleece someone by offloading some vets at the last minute to a 'bubble' team. If not, might as well wait until the draft.
  19. I don't think this game goes well... if you want us to win that is.... if you want us to keep working on the #1 pick I see this as a great game. I guess we've handled the pens well at their barn since their move... but after this huuuuge layoff and our recent play??? Not gonna bet on the flyboys.
  20. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=418835 Lupul tweets that he wants an explanation about what a suspension is... Somehow I don't think the above article will make him feel any better.
  21. He didn't even get a hearing for that!?!?.... That's messed up. from behind/blindside?...check direct contact to the head?...check Uh ok.
  22. There are a few teams that would definitely be interested in some secondary scoring and PO heroics. Boston comes to mind.... although Danny would be HORRRRRIBLE at their style of play. They have such a team first, defensive, grinding style that I don't see them calling homer. Maybe Ottawa??
  23. Nothing against lavi, but it has to be done... i'd feel differently if he'd at least TRIED to modify things for this shambles of a d-corps, but he hasn't. He has tried to fit this square peg in a round hole all year long. Taking amazing timeouts won't save him this time :-) Unfortunately, unless Lavi goes postal and shoots Bryz, Briere, AND homer, than this is just one small step in a possibly right direction.
  24. There are a lot of HORRIBLE combos out there for sure. I really enjoy listening to games called by Gord Miller (TSN/world juniors, etc.) and also Jim Hughson on CBC. They're not fancy, just straightforward and knowledgeable. Jack Edwards should be taken out back and shot... so disrespectful.
  25. I noticed his blogs took a darker turn about a week ago... probably after the NYR or Pitts loss. He's not a "rah rah" homer, but he's usually a pretty decent mix of realism/optimism. Seems like he's just skipping some of the sugar coating.
