  1. i don't think we should make any moves this year. stand pat. make it or not. there really is no reason to change any of the parts right now. there's nothing available that makes sense and we're not just one piece away here. we're many.
  2. *grunch* he's figured out how to goad others into taking the dumb penalties and has really picked his spots well. someone is obviously working with him on this, berube?, and they're doing a fine job. he finally seems to 'get it'... his role with the club. i see a lot of tocchet possibility in him since he is such a good skater. he doesn't have dead hands either.
  3. honestly, i'm really not in favor of any moves this season. imo, it's a wash so why not wait until the off-season to make any moves? we're just a young team that needs time, i'm not ready to give up on any of the pieces just yet.
  4. Well, I'll say one thing about Glass... he's got some of the best reference for 'dirty' in the league there in Pitt. What with Malkin's flying elbows and Neal's penchant for nailing guys nowhere near the puck... Cook's long resume and the sneaky stick work of Sid. I mean.. he's got the litany of references right there in front of him.
  5. Do we even need to trade for Schenn if we kept Carle? And if we don't trade for Schenn we still have JVR.... Scoring help that is sorely missing. All of the moves, and non moves, of this past off-season, point to Fail. The flyers org failed, plain and simple.
  6. they should teach him to shoot anywhere but ON net. i mean.. he misses so badly that his chances of scoring are probably better if he aims away from the net.
  7. not to derail the thread, but I was watching the pens/sens game last night and was struck by how much better the pens are than us. They have a balanced scoring attack that we just don't have. Their passing game is light years ahead of ours and it just caused the sens fits. I bring this up because I just don't see us having the ability to cycle against the Devils D. They've done a great job boxing us out and winning all the individual board battles. Also, the flyers still seem to have one D man 'rove'. I don't know how to explain it, but I've seen it cause many a breakdown in our zone resulting in GA. For instance, the Debbies have a great cycle game. Our D will have one man chase the forward as he cycles from the net area up to the blue line. This takes our D man waaaay out of position when the Debbie dumps it to another cycling player. then we have one D man back scrambling to cover both posts.
  8. I'm gonna say it was an excellent game by Bryz tonight. very solid, kept them in the game.
  9. the massive breakdowns we're having on D are causing so many breakaways, 2 on 0s .... it's just Bryz is not just being asked to make the 'normal' saves here. maybe that's why he's excelling this season, it's closer to the bad teams he had in front of him in the desert.
  10. so... against the lightning tonight... seems to be irrefutably a 'great' game by Bryz. no?
  11. you can bet your ass Brayden schenn's name is #1 on the block for homer. he's fallen out of favor with lavvy.
  12. vorachuk and coburn are on my ****list tonight. trying to get too fancy and making completely dumbass turnovers.
  13. he wasn't THE reason they lost last night. He wasn't great, but he certainly wasn't THE reason. I could only really fault him for like 1.. maybe 2 of those goals. We were still losing that game no matter who we had in net. They played lazy D last night.
  14. trade all the things!!!
  15. where's giroux's sniper? i mean... G is expected to be the setup man and his own sniper. with Jagr gone, G is lacking the scoring threat from the other side. I mean Simmonds is great mucking it up in front, but who is creating space for G? it's certainly not Read. I keep wanting to see Briere on the top PP with G. I know that's putting all your eggs in one basket, but right now, we need all the eggs in one basket cause we're dropping them all.
  16. trade him now! his value will never be higher!! seriously, though, bryz has now put together a few good games here. I thought he played very well in NY and even better last night. I'm seeing the signs that I saw last spring before he went on a heater. I think he's going on another heater here and I hope it's not ended by another injury(there are no jinxes). Is he in net again today? On one hand, I'd like to see him just stay in net right now... he's in the zone. On the other, this is a lot of games in a very short period of time ... and dare I say... maybe Leighton should start today? yikes. i said it.
  17. We'll see what happens with Redden in St. Louis, but I tend to agree with you on this one. Surely he would have been a risk, but that's a gamble I think the flyers should have taken. The reward potential was much greater if he could fill a hole.
  18. i'm not a huge subban fan either, but we're in trouble with our D and he is one viable option for an immediate improvement. Timo will be the most sought after FA this summer, so that tells you what we're looking at in terms of acquiring someone for cash. We're going to have to give something up to get something here. Otherwise, we stand pat and basically run the very possible risk of missing the playoffs this year. Maybe that is the wisest course of action... I dunno... it's too early to tell. Unless there's some mystical healing going on with Pronger, our D wasn't good to start with. Now that Mez is out... this is a real concern.
  19. well, he already played with some solid veterans and they couldn't get his head on straight. Hall Gill comes to mind.... I think he gave up on the kid.
