OK...here is a real positive spin. Over the next few years, Errson, Fedotov, Kosolov and Barnjsson (the WHL goalie) ALL look like actual NHL starters and despite looking great, Feds is moved for a 1st and a top level prospect. All due to Danny NOT giving him a no trade clause!!

Yes, but Peterson's deal brought in tangible assets. He was a means to an end. IF Fedetov flops, its not the same thing asset wise, its just a bad contract.

One thing I can guarantee...Danny might have made the final call...but some pro scouts will be sleepless come training camp...cause if you highly recommended Feds and he flops...not good. I dont think you make this kind of commitment on the word of a loosely affiliated rink rat...their scouts were over there watching and apparently liked what they saw.

It really does look like they were competing with themselves in an effort to overpay. Every red cent of the cap has to be spent wisely. Its the way horrible teams become decent and good teams become great. I read the terms of this deal were predetermined before Feds came over....so the bad start had no bearing on the inevitable deal that was made....assuming that report was accurate. Best case, he becomes a solid starter and its a great deal. Worst case, he helps secure a 1st overall draft pick by really sucking...not so bad... eh? If he ends up really being horrible, it would not end up getting this management team fired, but add this to 3-4 more bad decisions and its unemployment line. At the very least, Danny is hitching his rep as a talent evaluator to these questionable KHL stats...we shall see....

With one year remaining, NOT buying out Atkinson would be GM incompetence. Open a spot for a youngster, spread out the cap hit and the fans don't have to see 20+ games without a goal again. Easy peasy.

Apparently, Torts wanted to move into the upper management in Columbus and their GM wanted no part of it. Pure conjecture, but I believe he was hired with the promise a cushy Bob Clarke advisor role in the near future. That future may come quicker than anticipated. Sometimes these kids just "have it". With the KHL being a better league than the AHL, his stats say there is a real chance he's better than Sandstrom or Peterson. Maybe it was all meant to be...throw caution to the wind and let's catch lightning in a bottle!!
