  1. Doom, In all fairness, Hartnell was mentioned. He is my inspiration. I figure if he can skate like that and make it to the NHL, I at least have a chance to get past the snow plow practice squad. I won't mention that time I tried to be cool and jump the boards on a shift change, only to wind up face down in the penalty box next to us, looking like I just got pummeled by Tie Domi
  2. I would not let Leighton on the ice if his fat ass tripped and fell over the boards. I don't care if he died from exhaustion, Bryz would play every minute of this season from here on
  3. So here in NM we have vast knowledge on many topics, including, but not limitied to, successfully driving drunk while being a prominent public official, beating up your wife and girlfriend (at the same time), how to live turn mud into adequate dwellings, pushing elderly persons down escalators, and of course sodomizing ugly armored mamals. What we don't have a lot of knowledge about is ice hockey. So here is my dilemma. I am now, have been, and will forever be, a marginal hockey player. We refer to it as Beginner/intermediate at the local barn. In my quest for hockey knowledge I have learned that skates should be a size, size and a half, smaller than your shoe size. I was plodding around on a pair of CCM 91/2 halfs, looking like a cross between a drunk scott hartnell and riley cote after his nightly beating. The guy at the pro-shop (i use that term lightly) suggested I try a size 9. So we found a pair of CCM u+4 and tried those on. They fit but I didn't buy. Intead I went online and found a pair of CCM u+02 and bought those. to get to the point, I had them sharpened and went on this ice. As I have already mentioned, I am not the most gracefeul of skaters but I do okay. Normally stopping is not a huge deal for me. However, in these new skates, when I try to stop the blades chops across the ice. Have any of you experienced this and what exactly might be casuing it (other than me sucking)?
  4. I'm just saying that tazering an armadillo is considered foreplay in six counties.
  5. here's my thing... if you are a Linebacker and you go play in Chicago, Baltimore or Pissburg, you know the legacy there for your position. You want to win the crowd, just be a badass. In basketball, you go to LA with a razzle dazzle game and mad scoring ability, you will be loved Baseball, hit .350 with the Yankees, with 30 HR's In hockey, if you'ree a fighter and you come to the Flyers, it should be destiny. If a brain dead retard like Riley Cote can get a billboard, a good fighter should know he can win this crowd and city. Go out there and make the best of every shift. Drill somebody! hit anything that moves and then beat the piss out the first guy who says squat about it. I know you have to contend witht he coach... blah, blah, blah. Whatever. Youare going to get fired anyway so you might as well take some prisoners with you. Hell you might just find yourself a regular shift. i got a kick out of Bill Lindsey telling the story of how Luke Richardson pummeled him becasue Paul Laus beat a Flyers scorer. maybe we should twitter that to Jody Shelley. I mean seriously, you mouth breathing neanderthal, you have a chance to be lengedary. We all know you have the heart. Step up and be a Flyer
  6. Say what I will about Jody Shelley ....OK! He is in the league for one reason only, to fight. However, last season he did this 6 times in 30 games. So every five games (on average), we can expect him to do what he is paid for. And since he loses as many as he wins, he is ineffective at his job to boot. In the real world you get fired for this type of production
  7. I don't know, hind sight is always 20/20. If you could have predicted Pronger's injury then you obviously don't make that move. It would be just as safe to say, if Ryan Suter had signed with the Flyers they would be better off today. And of course, you have the obvious hindsight of Carter and Richards, neither of whom play defense. I just think the Flyers have essentially gutted this team and started over in the last two seasons. At some point you have to let things gel. Otherwise you will never get a good read on what you were trying to accomplish
  8. Oh, thank heavens he's back. I was worried that he might not be offered the obligatory "re-tread" opportunity extended to every other guy who has ever worn o/b any news on when Upshall will be returning?

  10. I never want to see fighting leave the game, but Parros and players like him and can get the BLEEP out as fast as possible. He performed well in the game though, i don't think he fell asleep until halfway through the 3rd
  11. I love rumors I don't see a trade happening to get this guy Flyers need to stand pat and see what they have
  12. The Flyers are now 2-3. The first three games looked to me like alot of guys were rusty and their timing and conditioning was off. The last two games they looked sharp, energized and worked like a team. Bryz also looked (IMO) really good in these last two games. Now I don't know how the rest of the season will play out. I fear that the injuries will be a big detractor and cause the team to fall short. And I don't know how Bryz will look the rest of the way. But I think 5 games in to a strike shortened season is not nearly enough of a sampling to determine hsi future on. Flyers fans are so emotionally invested in this team that everygame holds some monumental impact. Management has a tool at their disposal in this buy out. I don't think they will overlook this. Hell for all we know, Bryz could win the Vezina and still get bought out for business reasons. So as interesting a discussion as this is, I would say let's just relax and see what happens next. They aren't going to change anything until the season is over, so get used to what is here now
  13. with the days of enforcers being only a shell of what it used to be, having one on your roster is nearly a waste. There are a few good ones and I am now, and always will be, a big fan. Unless the Flyers go get one of these guys, there is no point in wasting a roster spot that can be filled with a potential skill guy, one who may develop into a regular player. I just think it is a testament to how bad things are, when you are having a discussion about the upsides of Jody Shelley and Tom Sestito, and about the possibility of then playing with Zac Rinaldo
  14. thank you... i bow to your intellect and sensibilities
  15. If he continues to disappoint, I am fairly confident he will be bought out. I think we are whipping a dead horse. The Flyers will go with him this season and let the chips fall. What he has done up to this point, why it happened, or how much he gets paid is irrelevant. He either plays up to level he was paid for, or he will be shopping for a new home
  16. its an assault rifle... it has a mind of its own and can shoot all by itself
  17. The idea that this is not areal season is ridiculous. As another stated, every team is playing by the same rules and under the same conditions. Is it the same as a full season? No, of course not. So what? How many other seasons have we heard that the first half of the season was over and now the "real' season begins? In my opinion this season is going to be a tougher challenge than a conventional one. Teams didn't have time to prepare. Roster moves that may have happened, didn't. Players are human beings and this type of real life situation for them will have an effect. there is the impending pressure of buy outs after the season. the schedule will be more grueling. every game is on conference and therefore more crucial. all in all, I think its going to be fun and enjoyable. for all of you who want asterisks, and are so openly critical after two games, what will you be saying if the Flyers are able to win the Cup this year?
  18. Im not disagreeing. My use of the term was to point out that HE might think he is elite. If so, then he needs to prove it. He needs to take the lion's share of this season, my guess would be 42 out of 48, and carry this team like a goalie should. If he needs to be papmpered and cared after in a shortened season then that's just more proof that he was a bad signing
  19. first he has to go on to some type of success with another team, then Fedotenko...err, Nodl, can come back
  20. I thought the Flyers looked good today and especially int he second period. Near the end however, they looked gassed and ended up losing. I don't blame anyone and I am vertainly not looking for an empty cliff. They battled all the way, and even looked good swirling into the zone. The ref did blow the whistele early but I am sure he will say he lost sight of the puck. It happens. I think they need some more conditioning and they will be fine. I can't say Im happy to see John Scott in Buffalo
