  1. I don't know. We traded a 5th overall winger whose never played an NHL game for a 6th overall 21 yr old RHD with some NHL experience and a 2nd. I know, injury. But i rank a top four (if not top 2) defenseman over a winger -- which is why i was really disappointed we drafted Cutter over Jiricek to begin with (the pick smelled of old time flyers). So, the situation and the reason for it stinks, but i actually think the trade is pretty good on its face, but especially good given the situation.
  2. This is why i always say, "don't take the prospect to Pat's on the first visit." There are MUCH better options. (And no, Steve's Prince of Steaks is not one of them. Come at me.)
  3. Completely agree. So, 3- or 5-game suspension?
  4. Same (fence). I'm going with good hit with bad result, but yeah, fence. I grew up watching when this wasn't even talked about, so there's that.
  5. I'm curious what the advanced stats say--whether there's something the eye test isn't necessarily seeing. Not the the advanced stats are correct and the eye test isn't, but maybe there's something there that is causing a different math. I'm happy being the underdog. We're from Philly, ####ing Philly, no one likes us, we don't care.
  6. Who'da predicted this? This one wasn't even hard. People who don't learn history...
  7. Both of whom would have long ago been destroyed and sold for S&H stamps.
  8. Raanta on waivers. What are the Canes up to? https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/carolina-hurricanes-place-veteran-goalie-antti-raanta-on-waivers-1.2049788
  9. It's been said, but worth repeating: Armstrong is among the worst GMs ever but somehow manages to hide under the pile of his own s##t and get someone else fired because it stinks. He accidentally won a Cup despite trying his damdest to avoid it. He won simply because of Berube and because Binnington played well above his level and despite trying to sabotage it like he's done nearly every other season he's been employed. The owner sucks for blindly keeping this guy around. Lazy, know-nothing sloth. Completely unbelievable.
  10. I'm perfectly fine with moving Cam. I've always liked him, but I'd trade him for a decent rehab m return. Tippett may be worth keeping, but I'd listen. So long as he's cost controlled, he's worth building with.
  11. I still maintain trading Konecny is utterly stupid unless they can't sign him. And that's its own failure.
  12. Atkinson, Risto, Staal, Couturier, Hathaway, Deslauriers. Walker. These are the people I'm trading for pieces. Of that group, Couturier is the last to go unless someone is trading me an unprotected potential top 5 pick. It's been suggested that we trade a 26 year old winger projected to score 40 (I'm prorating, but that's apparently a thing). There is no way on this earth that I'm trading that piece unless I'm getting first(S) + significant prospects. Even then, what kind of drugs does it take to trade him? So, he's 28 or 29 by the time Michkov is here and Gauthier is contributing. That's not an issue. You have a young, known quantity that is thriving, you continue to grow around him. If that same player is 29 or 30 right now, that changes the algebra. If you think you can't afford to sign him after next season, that's another reason to go ahead, but I only do this if his $8M cap isn't going to work--then do it this year.
  13. Does LA have lakes? Does Utah have Jazz? Does Toronto understand how to pluralize Leaf? I get your intent, though. It's just always amazed me that the Lakers nor the Jazz bothered to change their names when they moved.
  14. This is exactly where I am. I suggested only because the cap math kind of worked. But I have to get picks/prospects to compensate. You probably know the prospects better than I do, but there's not much outside of Cown and Chadwick that I'm terribly interested it. Got anyone else, or does this become strictly a pick fishing trip?
  15. Don't know, either, from a hockey point of view. The money and term involved kind of worked, though. I don't see any way a 1st is involved if Domi is, though. I don't think Domi is doing all that great in Toronto, though, so they may view it as cutting their losses. I don't live in Ottawa, so I don't watch a lot of Leafs to know.
  16. Could be interesting. The Maple Leafs don't have a ton of interesting trade capital, assuming that Nylander is off the table -- I wouldn't put him on it. So, they have their 2024 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th. 2025 is ugly: 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th. (When did Clarkgren start running the Leafs?) 2026, they have everything but their 2nd. I don't know a ton about most of their prospects, but Easton Cown and/or (maybe) Noah Chadwick would be my asks. If I'm trading Risto to the Leafs and it's not simply about subtraction, I'm retaining $2M/season for two years and asking for Max Domi ($3M --plus the $2M retain) helps the Leafs get down to the cap and he's a UFA this summer so maybe flip him at the deadline; if not, he's off your books), plus their 4th and either Cown or Chadwick or both. Out: Risto In: 2024 4th, Domi, Cown/Chadwick OR: Out: Risto In: Domi, 2024 1st. I'm dreaming with the first. I just don't see it, but apparently Toronto trades picks because it's Tuesday, so...
  17. Argle bargle random rant argle bargle finds out facts argle bargle proceeds to ignore argle bargle.
  18. Yes, he was out for medical. They don't randomly call someone up from the AHL to play emergency backup on a coaching whim. To steal @Samifan:s terminology: finger on the pulse.
  19. Luukkonen isn't even gonna play tonight. That was announced this morning. It's not even my team. What I've always liked about you is you're so on top of things.
