Schenn and edmunson also on the radar certainly but ekholm is by far the more complete player at both ends of the ice. I could see ekholm and one of schenn or Edmondson to fix the glaring weakness.

Aaaaand Scheen to the Leafs (again). Dubas in full shoot-at-everything mode.

What i am most impressed with is getting a first for Sandin and a third for Engvall, replacing lost picks is nearly impossible when you are loading up. I think the Leafs have had a fantastic deadline.

Johansson from the Capitals back to the Wild for a third rounder. middle six winger who if forced to can play center if you are desperate enough. Honestly i dont see him as a needle mover but the Wild needed to do something to make the fans happy without bankrupting the farm system or giving away top draft picks. Kind of a fraud add, makes it look like you are really trying when in reality it is just a meh move.

And if they fall flat again (very REAL possibility :bigteeth: ), they will always have that 'great deadline' to fall back on and sell to the season ticket holders......as a crapload of UFA's depart in the offseason.

Johansson was promised a 'do over' from the last time he was with the Wild.
Leave the guy alone....he needs to get his per diem money

I have been eyeballing the two Eastern Conference 2/3 matchups even before the deadline but now

Rangers/Devils

Leafs/Lightning

woooooow. that is the essence of great hockey.

Yea, too bad Bettman's current wonky playoff system has these great matchups happening in Round 1, as opposed to later down the line as likely would have happend if teams were seeded 1-2 division winners and the rest 3-8.

From your lips to Bettmans ears, lol. One thing I have discovered with fifty years of watching the playoff system reinvented every three or four years on a regular basis, stick around long enough they will change it. Problem is it is usually not well thought out and they have to go back a few years later and change it again. But like you i am huge proponent of two division winners and the others seed 3-8

1st rounders flying all over the place and one of the worst teams in the league hasn't made a move.

Retention means hold part of a players salary, not hold on to all the useless players you've collected you halfwit!

Pool party goes to Carolina...at least Flyer fans can breath a sigh of relief that Fletch doesn't bring in yet another dumb player.

edit: I mean specifically this one. I'm sure they'll find someone else.

Wow. Honestly I have written elsewhere about how literally almost every trade waddell has made has been dreadful yet somehow the canes are in the thick of it. NYR added taresenko and getting Kane. Devil's got timo. Tampa, Boston, Toronto all improved. Waddell adds the guy who Edmonton has tried to force onto either mcjesus or Leon over and over in spite of massive proof that he just cannot play

Carolina lost last year because they couldn't score, no reason to think they make it past the second round

I look at this as more of a move to make sure they get to the playoffs. Guerins not an idiot so he has to know that the Wild aren’t a cup contender. But they probably are good enough to get into the playoffs. He probably also has to show Kaprizov that he’s building something, because if Kaprizov walks in three years it will be devastating for the franchise.

Jonas Korpisalo being held out of the Columbus lineup for 'trade related reasons'.

Looks like someone is interested in the embattled 'Korpi'. Wonder who that could be...

I'm not worried. Colorado will win the division, the Jets will continue to collapse while the Stars will pile up OT losses again and again.

So it was expected so no biggie any more, but Kane’s trade to NYR was announced as official on Chicago 4 PM (Central) local TV news.

I read on a website dedicated to tracing celebrity backgrounds that 3 of Kane’s 4 grandparents are Irish.  And of course New York City is full of Irish immigrant history and with many Irish neighborhoods today.

So if Kane starts out well for the Rangers, you know what nickname they’ll call him.

He’s got 16 days to earn that moniker from Rangers fans!

Bertuzzi >>> :bruins:

So Basically an injury-prone player to replace an already injured player. I don't completely get it from the Bruins.

(Glad Nill was on his usual neurasthenic watching-waiting mode on that one)

YOUR Dallas Stars are said to be working on a deal to acquire Chicago's Max Domi and I believe the Husk® ( @yave1964 trademarked now, BTW) of Anton Khudobin is involved.

If that is the case, not bad!

Teddy Bluegar is traded from the Pens to the Knights.

This could actually be one of those under-the-radar type acquisitions for Vegas.
Bluegar is having a bit of a down year, but he normally is a very good PK and defensive specialist forward, very decent face off man, and a guy who just usually takes care of the puck very well without all the nonsense silly turnovers you get from some bottom six centers.

Maybe playing on a better defensive overall team like Vegas as opposed to the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants Penguins will help get him back to where he was before he took this bit of a nosedive this season.

They had to move Blueger in order to free the mney up to add Granlund from the Preds who is having a down year but should bounce back nicely in the top six likely on a line with Malkin. Blueger is a nice 4th line piece for Vegas tho.

'

And Sweeney gives up yet another first round pick....smh.

Jack S#it for prospects in the system, esp at Center, but keep trading away 1st rounders.

FML.
