Save the cap space for Corey Perry.

Now that 29 other GMs know that the position that Holmgren is in, why would the Ducks ever agree to picks for Ryan?

At this point, I think they need to stand pat and see what they have in a few months.

Why Voracek has not been signed is beyond me though...

I'm guessing and hoping Jake is signed before the end of the week.

But I'm not sure what "29 other GMs" know now that they didn't know yesterday, or last week. Can you explain that a bit? I'm sure you've got a point but I'm missing it. Thanks!

Bert - hope all is well man... I am 100% in agreement with you on this... Sign Jake and stand Pat. I love Ryan but the focus right now should be to bettering the defense if possible. If not, stand pat until next year... let the kids grow...

Although, this defense in front of Bryz scares me a bit... Hopefully Mez comes back healthy!

What position is that? It's not like our team is in bad shape or anything.

Heck, I think our D actually looks pretty good.

- AndyS, I truly respect your opinion but I think it is fair to say that Pitt and the Rangers improved this offseason. IMO, we are no better off than at the end of last season - maybe worse. I think this year should be about letting the young kids get another year under their belt and allowing them to grow. You go into next season with some nice cap space... This defense is not going to set the world on fire so Bryz really needs to step up...

so Bryz really needs to step up...

and if we're banking on that... ugh, that's a depressing thought. But you're right, it's all we can hope for. Bryzgalov has a "good" year and then does his usual implosion when the POs roll around.

sorry to be so negative but I thought all along that, while getting Weber would've been awesome - just to see him play more, since I watch more Flyers' games - he wasn't going to put us in the "Cup favorite" category. Not with this flake we've got in goal.

Penguins didn't improve, but the Rangers got another step ahead

Grossmann, Coburn, Timonen, Shenn, Mezsaros & MAB?

That's a pretty solid 6.

And 3 of those guys can flat-out hit!

our best hope is for a miracle that Pronger suddenly (and completely) heals up and comes back playing to form. like i said... we're basically relying on a miracle happening.

I guess by the other 29 GMs know the Flyers position, I am saying that the Flyers missed out on Parise, Suter, supposedly Nash and Weber. Thye can see the Holmgren is trying to upgrade desperately on multiple fronts.

Next they (other GMs) can see that perhaps somebody (Holmgren) has lost some swager and cannot get all the top flight free agents that he wants. They can see that Jagr, JvR and Carle are gone and that it is quite clear that Holmgren is not pleased with the team as it stands, or non of the off season attempts would have been done.

I also think that Holmgren had no desire to sign Jagr or Carle.

The team is still good, but it is not much better than it was this time last year. Actually, I think it is about the same, a lot of question marks.

Time will tell.

But for now, enough with the madness from Holmgren. Make a push to ink Doan and call it an offseason.

@murraycraven, all is well, hope the same for you. I agree this D is going to have to revamp its structure and protect Bryzgalov more. We need to pass on Ryan and keep what we have. A good thing is we have space for the first time since the cap era. I am hoping that Homer and co wait till next July and get their man.

Homer so far has done well by not shopping Schenn or Courts. I applaud his ballsy move to get Weber. Good things will happen in time. Maybe a few years out, but it will happen.

He sure tried. Can't accuse the Flyers of not trying. And it was a gutsy move.

We all know this team have holes, with goaltending being the #1 hole. But let's just see where we are as the season rolls along.

It would be awesome to add Weber to the roster, of course, but it just didn't happen. I think the best the Flyers fans can do right now is just put this behind them and pretend this offer sheet never happened. No need to keep stressing over this.

Why....why....why does anyone think Perry and Getzlaf will become UFA's next season. The mere thought is OUTRAGEOUS!!

First off, neither of them have a NMC or a NTC...they can be moved at anytime to anyone. The Ducks will simply NOT lose them for nothing. Anyone banking on this needs their head examined.

@ The Rags are one of the top 3 teams in the East...and will only get better. Once the youth develops, they will be scary good...yes, good enough to lose sleep over. The *only* thing they were missing was a stud to score when it counts...and they just addressed that with Nash without putting a dent in their offense or young prospect pool. Are you for real?

" Once the youth develops, they will be scary good...yes, good enough to lose sleep over."

Um, can't our youth develop? I got a feelin' Coots and Schenn might just become "scary good"

They sure will develop, I don't think people realise the offensive potential of Cooter, and Schenn will be a main stay kick ass playerfor this team no doubt. Just with teams like the Rags adding a guy like Nash to there team would be like adding Weber to ours, we did not get our guy though they did get theres. BUT the Rags do not have a Giroux and that there is one hell of a difference!!
