Should Flyers pursue Sabres' Moulson & Ehrhoff?

It seems these 2 guys aren't in Sabres long term plans and with the overhaul the other day would anyone as a Flyers fan like acquiring Moulson & Ehrhoff?

Moulson is 30 and FA this Summer and might be available, the key part of the Vanek trade was Sabres

Getting that #1 puck in 2014 & Ehrhoff is 31 high cap hit but could be a puck moving defenseman

He did score 50 points 3 or 4 years ago

Ehrhoff's cap is fine... it's the remaining 7 years that makes it a risky contract. I don't know if his NMC follows that contract or not. Either way, I'd find out first.

But he would be a solid replacement for Timonen. He can move the puck well, logs a tons of minutes, blocks a ton of shots. I would like him on this team.

Look at it this way: he would only be the 6th highest paid defenseman on this team (tied with Meszaros at $4M).

"cap hit" yes - Meszaros is "making" $5.5M this season.

 

I'd kick the tires on Moulson, but wouldn't be averse to waiting for him as a UFA.

 

Ehrhoff, I just don't have much faith in.

I want nothing to do with Ehrhoffs contract...though it would fit right in with some of Holmgrens signings.

No thanks to either.  Ehrhoff is garbage in his own end, and I'd rather let the young guys play on the big club.  It's the only way to build chemistry and consistency.

 His +/- ? Not sure what you're looking at but 2 years ago he was -2.

  Erhoff is a no go from the start, makes to much and is signed for to long. Big defensive liability, regardless of any stats anyone can bring up, just watch the games. Moulson, yeah, but he will be on the wrong side of 30 and want one of those retirement deals where he slowly regresses...which means Homer may be interested...but I'm not.

I wouldn't try to get Erhoff.    IMHO, he's unreliable in his own end.
