  1. Hawks blank Ducks 2-0 to end season series I was not expecting a shutout win ... but I'll take it! Crow got the shutout and Hossa figured in both goals, scoring the first goal. He's really been on fire lately!
  2. Now all we need are some more Hawks fans to balance it out!
  3. The Hawks and Ducks end their regular season series tonight in Anaheim. The Ducks have overall been formidable on home ice but have fallen on hard times there lately. Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry make up the DUcks' scoring duo, while Marian Hossa and, as of late, Brandon Saad make up ours. Saad has had 3 goals in his last five games.
  4. Patrick Kane honored his late grandfather with 2 goals and an assist in this one to crown the Kings 5-3. Kane found out about his grandfather's passing away just hours before this game. Also, the Hawks may have ended their struggles (just one win in 6 games) but extended the Kings' struggles. However, it doesn't get easier for the Hawks, who meet Anaheim tonight.
  5. @jammer2 I'm not really sure, to be honest. Maybe. The Hawks did not face Quick in either game this season, and at the time, LA was doing well except when it came to scoring vs. the Hawks. I'll have to listen closely when I watch the game tomorrow off the DVR after I get home from work. That's very interesting if the Kings' struglgles coincided with Quick's return ...
  6. The series winner has already been crowned, since the Blackhawks have won both games thus far this season. In the first game, Antti Raanta nearly had a shutout against the Kings. In the second game, Raanta did get a shutout, 1-0. Back then, the Kings were being discussed as perhaps a Western Conference finals contender, but as much as the Hawks have struggled this last month, the Kings have struggled even more, going 2-7-1 in their last 10 games.
  7. @jammer2 I thought it would be a tight game, also. I'm glad the Hawks didn't get shut out, though ...
  8. I wonder what Jets fans say when the Blackhawks come to play ... Mario's poolboy? Now that's a classic indeed! During the 1997 Wings-Avs Western Conference finals, Patrick Roy got yanked in Game 4 and the WIngs fans, to begin the 3rd period, chanted "We want Roy!". Of course in Chicago, there's the usual "Deeeeee-troit SUCKS!" chants.
  9. @J0e Th0rnton Thanks! I have a lot of respect for the Sharks, as well. They've been a perennial playoff contender yet I didn't always hear much about them until they signed Antti Niemi. I wish I could stay up and watch this one tonight, but I cn't since I have to work tomorrow ...
  10. @jammer2 We'll see! I hope the Hawks have gotten over their first-period flops. If there's one team capable of shutting out the Hawks each time, it's the Shaaaaaaaaaaarks.
  11. Those look like they're straight out of the 1960s ...
  12. @goalnut3133 Welcome back! " It's not too hard to beat the Nucks no matter how strong they come out in the 1st period, they just can't play a whole 60 mins...." That kind of sounds like the Hawks until the game against your Canucks. It was so frustrating. I think both teams are looking forward to the Olympic break and a change of scenery. I'm looking forward to the Olympics, as well ... they begin two days after my dad's birthday, also.
  13. I wish they were playing tonight since I have tomorrow off! Anyhow ... tomorrow night will be the final game of the regular season against the Shaaaaaaaaaarks, although there is a good chance the teams could meet in the playoffs. Maybe tomorrow will be a "Battle of the Anttis" (Niemi vs. Raanta)? The season series is split thus far, but the Sharks needed a shootout in their win.
  14. Interesting read! It wasn't too surprising to see Hawks-Blues there. Wings-Avs is perhaps the most memorable for me, too.
  15. Hawks took care of business after another dismal first period The Hawks decdied enough with the flat starts and dug out of a 2-0 first period hole to win it 5-2! Brandon Saad scored twice, and Toews, Hoossa, and Sharp netted the other Hawks goals.
  16. @jammer2 The Hawks didn't look so great in the first period in Vancouver, either ... but thankfully were able to right the ship in a big way.
  17. As flat as a pancake That kind of decribes the Hawks in last night's game vs. Calgary, although we got a point since it went to overtime. Come on, guys ... pancakes are for breakfast! This stretch of games is really not much of a laghing matter, though. It's too early to freak out, but most SportsTalk Live viewers here (myself included) are concerned about the Hawks continuously coming out flat lately. Perhaps it is because of this road trip and the upcoming Olympics. The Hawks have been playing a lot of games lately without much break (kind of sounds like my work schedule this month as well) ... that's the only plausible excuse I have.
  18. Once again, I cannot stay up for this game because of work (D'OH!), but I'm looking forward to it! Maybe the Hawks will win the season series, if we win tomorrow night! Where is goalnut lately? We need to make another sig bet since this is for all the marbles! Of course, there is a chance the Hawks and Canucks will meet in the first round of the playoffs ...
  19. I don't have too much to say about this match tonight since I will have to go to bed before the game starts (Darn work). The Hawks will have to break out of their slide on the road, hopefully tonight against the Flames. That won't be easy, considering the last two games against Calgary ... the Hawks won one of those two games but it was not an easy win by any means.
  20. This was a tough loss. It seemed like the Hawks sat on that 1-0 too early in the game. That might work if the Hawks were in the Eastern conference against more defensive-minded teams, but not in the West.
  21. This was a tough loss, unfortunately it happened in regulation, so no point for us. Darcy Kuemper, the Wild netminder, stood on his head in this one. He really could have gotten a shutout. Also, these Hawks-Wild matchups could be a playoff preview ...
  22. This season, the Hawks have had their way with Winnipeg, but the Jets have been steadily playing better since the first game between the two teams and particularly since changing coaches. The Hawks are looking to get something good going after having lost their last two games (one of those losses, though, being in a shootout). It will be our last home game in awhile, with the Olympics coming up and the Hawks' annual Disney on Ice road trip coming soon, as well.
  23. @yave1964 It sure was! It definitely seemed like a playoff game for me, with the family factor and all. My dad, of course, is gloating now but says this win against my Hawks doesn't take away the sting of last season's Game 7 loss for him.
  24. It's time for yet another rematch with the Wild. I'm late with this game thread since I had a busy day at work. I hope the Hawks can bounce back after last night's shootout loss and win tonight. The Hawks have done well on the second of back-to-back games.
