  1. I remember the Habs claiming that Poehling would be their future superstar after he scored a hattie in his first NHL game. But then, yeah... the balloon deflated a bit. Nevertheless, I still think it's a good bottom-6 signing for the Flyers.
  2. Seen in Toronto. It's pretty badass.
  3. Open ice late hit, upward motion, elbow used to hit Pelech, head as the first contact point. This one was checks almost every checkbox. To put a bit of context, this hit occured after Clutterbuck made a huge but legal hit on Harvey-Pinard shortly before. This is exactly what the League is """""trying""""" to get rid of. Should be four games at least but we know it won't be more than five because Gallagher won't have a personal hearing. Edit: He got five games. Seems legit.
  4. Gretzky would say that the justice misses 100% of true offenders that are not sued by their victims.
  5. Letting Brodeur design their third jersey?
  6. Luckily for the Avs, their offense is rolling. Because their D and goaltending are pretty much sub-average.
  7. They suck at D and don't have any reliable back-up goalie to unload the already struggling Georgive, so this move makes perfect sense to me.
  8. Well, I do agree with all this. It's more a feeling in my perspective, and the fact that it's very difficult to have significant evidence of any guilt in those type of cases. I'm also pointing out all the negative aspects of rumors along with social media that tend to polarize opinions and influence the role of the true justice (by "true", I mean official trial courts, etc.) On a side note, all this smells like a final "financial arrangement has been reached outisde the justice court" at some point, with all the people involved having the obligation to not talk about it publicly. Then the players will go home with the dust swept under the rug. I won't bet my house on it but it's kind of a feeling I have. It's hard to believe that any of these players will go to jail. Maybe I'm mistaken, but right now I highly doubt it.
  9. As sad as it sounds, the essential concept of "innocent until guilt has been proven" is no longer valid in today's society. And right now, even if the lame answer of "we don't know what really happened" prevails, once the popular trial has spoken through the wonderful social media platforms that are Facebook, TikTok and Co, it's game over. Any judgement by a legal justice court doesn't change anything moving forward.
  10. That's really a major fail in the Kings' strategy that has been really good so far. The trade itself was bad but the contract extension was way worse. Dubois's 1-way game isn't fitting into the Kings' system and philosophy at all. With Perry gone, maybe the Hawks would need another big fat contract to help them reach the floor...
  11. Perry should have been signed by the Oilers before the season start. He's not the sniper he used to be but he has a profile the Oilers are currently lacking. Corey Perry will simply make Corey Perry things on the ice: in front of the net and play his agitator role. Don't count on him in the regular season, he won't be a diffference maker but when the playoffs will come, then he will be the one to step up. He did exactly that with the Stars and then with the Habs.
  12. Lamoriello should have been the one to step down...
  13. I was only able to catch the first period where the Flyers scored 2 TDs on shots on goals vs. nothing on the Stars' side. On Walker's goal, I was wondering where did Harley go to get some wood while Hanley was installing his camping gear in the refs' half circle... But like always, I thought "it's ok, a bad first period, business as usual, things will even out and the game should be pretty equal." And apparently it wasn't the case at all LOL.
  14. Finally, a game at a decent time, I love when the Stars plays on the East Coast. DeBoer recently broke up the Robertson-Pavelski-Hintz line with quite a good success. Johnston has been promoted to the first line, replacing Paveski who now plays with Benn and Steel on the third unit. Take a look at Marchment: he's the only known player to be able to high-elbow himself and have a gravity center outside his body.
  15. On the exact opposite side of the hockey profanation of those garbage All Star jersey, these should become the new Lightning regular ones ASAP.
  16. La fleur. Quite funny to see that #5 Ed Belfour is the first goalie not from Québec.
  17. I'm very happy for Fleury, now alone at the second place. One of my favorite player. Totally deserved with a SO on top of that.
  18. I had to read it twice to be sure it referred to Kuemper, Khudobin and Kähkonen, and not the white supremacist group lol.
  19. He was almost the only one to show some grit and emotion, and that he was truly pissed as long as the game was going. I guess when your dream was to be a professional player playing for the Wild as a 8-year boy, it helps to be motivated.
  20. Wallstedt had a bit of a rough start and you could feel his nervosity. A couple of bad bounces -- bad luck too -- but he wasn't really helped either. The first puck he let in allowed (the disallowed Robertson one) was a bad one and surely didn't help his confidence but it went better with time. I agree with the game itself. Looked like a preseason game with no risks, no emotions, pretty dull in fact. Now, I deeply wish Marc-André Fleury to go past Roy and get his 552nd career win.
  21. I guess you got the RDS feed. I've watched the game and Pierre Houde is actually very good as he's been following the Habs for almost 30 years. That being said, I hate when he yells at every Canadiens goal like if they have just won the Stanley Cup and this really gets in my nerves. Hope you caught the game after the two Montréal goals.
  22. On the other hand, I don't think Tavares will be back in two years (or maybe at a much lower cap hit). Bertuzzi's contract should be off the books too. With the increasing cap, this should fit in the plan but you're right: all the eggs in the same basket is not a good recipe for success. The Leafs should plan a trip for the Compostella pilgrimage and pray for Woll to become their franchise elite goalie. This and fixing this horrible defensive corps as well.
  23. Yeah but Brashear or Cooke are now retired ;-/
