  1. That's really a major fail in the Kings' strategy that has been really good so far. The trade itself was bad but the contract extension was way worse. Dubois's 1-way game isn't fitting into the Kings' system and philosophy at all. With Perry gone, maybe the Hawks would need another big fat contract to help them reach the floor...
  2. Perry should have been signed by the Oilers before the season start. He's not the sniper he used to be but he has a profile the Oilers are currently lacking. Corey Perry will simply make Corey Perry things on the ice: in front of the net and play his agitator role. Don't count on him in the regular season, he won't be a diffference maker but when the playoffs will come, then he will be the one to step up. He did exactly that with the Stars and then with the Habs.
  3. Lamoriello should have been the one to step down...
  4. I was only able to catch the first period where the Flyers scored 2 TDs on shots on goals vs. nothing on the Stars' side. On Walker's goal, I was wondering where did Harley go to get some wood while Hanley was installing his camping gear in the refs' half circle... But like always, I thought "it's ok, a bad first period, business as usual, things will even out and the game should be pretty equal." And apparently it wasn't the case at all LOL.
  5. Finally, a game at a decent time, I love when the Stars plays on the East Coast. DeBoer recently broke up the Robertson-Pavelski-Hintz line with quite a good success. Johnston has been promoted to the first line, replacing Paveski who now plays with Benn and Steel on the third unit. Take a look at Marchment: he's the only known player to be able to high-elbow himself and have a gravity center outside his body.
  6. On the exact opposite side of the hockey profanation of those garbage All Star jersey, these should become the new Lightning regular ones ASAP.
  7. La fleur. Quite funny to see that #5 Ed Belfour is the first goalie not from Québec.
  8. I'm very happy for Fleury, now alone at the second place. One of my favorite player. Totally deserved with a SO on top of that.
  9. I had to read it twice to be sure it referred to Kuemper, Khudobin and Kähkonen, and not the white supremacist group lol.
  10. He was almost the only one to show some grit and emotion, and that he was truly pissed as long as the game was going. I guess when your dream was to be a professional player playing for the Wild as a 8-year boy, it helps to be motivated.
  11. Wallstedt had a bit of a rough start and you could feel his nervosity. A couple of bad bounces -- bad luck too -- but he wasn't really helped either. The first puck he let in allowed (the disallowed Robertson one) was a bad one and surely didn't help his confidence but it went better with time. I agree with the game itself. Looked like a preseason game with no risks, no emotions, pretty dull in fact. Now, I deeply wish Marc-André Fleury to go past Roy and get his 552nd career win.
  12. I guess you got the RDS feed. I've watched the game and Pierre Houde is actually very good as he's been following the Habs for almost 30 years. That being said, I hate when he yells at every Canadiens goal like if they have just won the Stanley Cup and this really gets in my nerves. Hope you caught the game after the two Montréal goals.
  13. On the other hand, I don't think Tavares will be back in two years (or maybe at a much lower cap hit). Bertuzzi's contract should be off the books too. With the increasing cap, this should fit in the plan but you're right: all the eggs in the same basket is not a good recipe for success. The Leafs should plan a trip for the Compostella pilgrimage and pray for Woll to become their franchise elite goalie. This and fixing this horrible defensive corps as well.
  14. Yeah but Brashear or Cooke are now retired ;-/
  15. So Unfortunate... But I mean, **** Don Cherry and wear a full grid no matter what.
  16. Of course, I was kidding -- just a bit Still, it's really not fun for these bottom teams to get demolished every year against the North Americans. They know that they will get crushed and that what usually happens. Former Swiss coach Christian Wohlwend (a guy that I love. he speaks truly on a very colored way) perfectly summarizes it when Switzerland learned that they will face Canada in the quarters:
  17. Canada-Latvia, 10-0 USA-Switzerland 11-3 Czech Rep.-Norway 8-1 Sweden-Latvia 6-0 ...and it's not over. Maybe change the formula, go with only six teams and start directly with 2 wild card games and the following semi-finals.
  18. Holy smoke, back to the 1980s where Russians, Czechs and other players from the wrong side of the iron curtain had to defect and seek asylum in the west at a high risk level. It's a matter of emergency that these prospects manage to get the f*** outta there as soon as possible, for their own safety.
  19. Actually, I think it depends of the goalie. If a Michigan prevents Fleury from getting past Patrick Roy, then it's a 2' for high stick + 10' misconduct against the player. If it's Binnington in net, I'd give a 10' for unsportsmanlike conduct and an additional 2' for instigator against Binnington.
  20. Crazy what damages concussions can made. You can either be ok 2 weeks later or have your career over. As sad as inevitable at that point.
  21. Levi is the goalie of the future in the Sabres' organization. He's still young, maybe he should gain some experience down in the AHL but he's the man. On the other hand, they should stop running three goalies ASAP because it burns one roster spot while preventing either Luukkonen or Comrie to get significant ice time to increase their value. There is definitely something wrong with this team. Year after year they inked very skilled and promising young players, they start the season well before having an epic collapse that boots them out of the play-off picture. The 9-4 rout yesterday shows that something is broken and this is serious. It's like the players gave up.
  22. Totally agree. He's some sort of Chiarelli 2.0 and with Fletcher on the podium with those two, we have a fantastic bunch of numbnutz. On the other hand and as a Blues rival and hater, every move that would lead to sink this ship deeper is good to take.
