  1. @flyercanuck Approves that message
  2. @hf101 I'd hope, but there was a reason they brought him here. There is noway Holmgren gets out of that contract without shipping a high pick or prospect.
  3. Wonder if he can serve buttered popcorn and 7-Up?
  4. @flyercanuck Agreed (sarcasm font). I hope Homer isn't that stupid, but I can see him packaging him at the draft for a defender being that VLC's contract is unmovable. Maybe VLC will ok on the 4th line..... I am just pissed thinking about it.
  5. I think this signing is going to bite the Flyers in the ass hard. I see the only way out of the contract is to send a high pick with him to get a Walker type player in return. I hated this signing since day one and think that they may have to ride this one out. Kind of like buying an expensive car with a 6 year note attached. Do you trade it in to pay $600 a month for a Kia Rio, or curse your car every time you get behind the wheel for the next 6 years. I'd lean towards the second option. Keep him. Really no other choice. Besides we have no idea what Schenn is going to want this summer. Something tells me he'll be the odd man out unfortunately...
  6. I would much rather see Raffl on the 2nd line and McGinn riding the bus. Ideally: Raffl-Giroux-Voracek Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds Read-Couturier-McGinn Rinaldo-VLC-Hall Something is off with VLC and this probably is not going to motivate him into playing better, but there is a "log jam" and he clearly is the weakest link at center. I can't wait to see how this contract looks in 3 years......
  7. Wait the Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson? I know Holmgren has made some questionable signings, but this dude would take the icing on the cake.
  8. The best I saw was "if you owned a bar, how cheap would the shots be" Good stuff right there.
  9. -Ed Snider and his inability to stay out of the business end of the hockey operation -The "Good Ol' Boys Network" that refuses to seek new blood in upper management positions -Paul Holmgren and his name jointly on Ed Snider's checkbook -The PECO powerplay -The name of the arena and it's location
  10. I think this team is one that believes that they are in the hunt for the cup this year. Sadly I think that means that they will not move anyone off their D. If however, a 2nd round pick is offered for Meszaros, Holmgren would be a fool not to take it.
  11. 13-7 is my prediction giving them 26 more points (unless there is an OT loss in there) this will give them 96 pts. This should secure them a spot in the Metro 1) Capitals: W 2) Leafs: W 3) Devils: W 4/5) Pen matinee (Split) L/W 6) Hawks: L 7) Stars: W 8) Blues: L 9) Kings: W 10) Rangers: W 11) Leafs: W 12) Bruins: L 13) Blues: L 14) Blue Jackets: W 15) Bruins: L 16) Sabres: W 17) Panthers: W 18) Lighting: L 19) Penguins: W 20) Hurricanes: W The problem I see is the Bruins. Outside of them there is no team in the East that is particularly challenging to this squad.
  12. When I say the title of this thread I thought it was started by MillerTime.....However, I do digress, welcome @Daerialadrian to the greatest game ever!!
  13. IMO there is no way Meszaros is back next year, but MacDonald's contract is up this year and he is noway a top pairing defender. I'd sooner let Meszaros expire here unless the deal is too good to be true. Daley makes sense, but with three years left on his contract at a reasonable number, I'd be interested to see what the asking price is. Dustin Byfuglien makes way toooooooooooooooo much IMO for what he offers. I think he is a bigger version of Mark Striet if you ask me and for that we do not need him of his cap hit. Vanek will never happen IMO. The problem here is they are a fringe playoff team that probably will (if they make it) be a 1st or 2nd round exit team. To me that is the worst spot to be in. They cannot afford to be sellers, but don't have the flexibility to be buyers. I expect a Upshall for Carcillo "and the fans are going to love him" type move. Or in other words, move along nothing to see here type moves... Minor league contract swaps, low picks for depth type stuff.
  14. @pilldoc I think the same way as you regarding the seeding and the playoff picture in the East.
  15. @jammer2 Got to be. I wore this to work today lol
  16. 4-2 US JvR, Kessel, Oshie, Stasny Crosby, Weber
  17. @Clarke2Leach Complaining? Not exactly..... Just saying it reminds me of shuffleboard....and the only bars that I know of here in PA that have a shuffleboard table are the ones that play Journey on a constant loop.
  18. Penguins Fans Named Best in the NHL by Gary Bettman and Pierre McGuire... Fixed the title for you...
  19. Shuffle board on ice with no beer or Journey on the Jukebox? No thanks.
  20. @StevenTobey Good stuff with the hockey. My advice on every level is: practice, practice, practice. Practice stick handing with a golf ball in your kitchen or a hard surface. Practice your shot in your driveway for about 30 minutes a day, practice skating by getting any public ice time you can get. That will get you there in no time. But practice correctly with good form. To answer your above question, to me it sounds like you are shooting off your back foot or dropping your top hand elbow or low hand shoulder when taking your shot. Look at the Parise photo that was posted above. His elbow is parallel (90 degrees) to the ice and and his shoulder is most likely square to the shooter. Lifting (i.e. pushing off your back foot) is good for gaining more power in your shot but not 100% necessary. In time that will come when you get the fundamentals down. If I were you and you had the time in money, look into an instructional league in your area. They usually run about $300 a season and typically have 8 lessons and 8 games. I used to help teach at an instructional league about a decade ago and what I can tell you is have fun, don't frustrated, and the skills will soon follow. Good luck and happy hockey

  22. Just so I understand this correctly (and I did read the entire article)- Ed Snider loathes NHL players attending the Winter Olympics, and thinks that it is the worst idea ever in the history of bad ideas, and that the NHL is the only professional sport that sends players to participate during the regular season, yet he is pi$$ed that his "star" player is not participating in an event that he hates? Meanwhile in Crazyville, Al Sharpton is peeved that there is no minority representation in the Sharkey County Mississippi chapter of the Ku Klux Klan....... Ed may need to see his doctor and get his Donepezil prescription re-filled.
  23. @fanaticV3.0 Are we really going to do this back-and-forth stuff. Re-read my morning posts on this thread. Nowhere do I say I hate Schenn or VLC. I was stating that if a trade for a quality winger was to be made, Schenn would probably have to be a part of that said name package. That is it. Nothing more. Nothing less. In a perfect world Voracek would wake up and produce, Hartnell would look like 2011-12 Hartnell, etc, etc. However, that is not a reality for the Flyers. Homer is panic prone, he will make a trade trust me on that. And please, stop with the 2-3 top scorers on the team crap. They are 118th and 132nd respectively for points scored in the league. Calling you Clarke is not an insult btw, it is more of a mind frame when you suggested trading Laughton. Lastly, soft no, but concerned with the low brow direction this thread could go? Yes. Leave it at that.
