  1. As they say in congress: force the vote. get it on record. (no, I don't think it's necessary; just entertaining)
  2. I don't think this is necessarily strange timing. I think it's a direct result of the trade deadline debacle. Somewhere in the dark catacombs of the internal workings of Comcast Spectacor they huddled--probably yesterday was the first time calendars were open--and came to consensus. They needed to read Briere in and get an acceptance of the temp job, prepare their press release(s) and lower the boom this morning when he arrived to work. If the question is "why not well before the deadline--in response to the idiocy that was the offseason?" I got nothing.
  3. This is a terrible segue, and I mean no offense, but while we're all realizing we're old, is anyone in touch with @blocker? Is he doing okay?
  4. Damn it. You too? Man, we all got old. It was only yesterday we were all young 30-somethings worshipping Jon Sim and Scotty Upshall. What the hell happened?!
  5. Since last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. What's really different is how far back the west is this year. It's a chasm between the two. That said, I still wouldn't be surprised if a team from the west wins the cup.
  6. I don't agree with him when he's parsing foot vs. leg. There's no kicking motion either way. The skate is on the ice before the puck's arrival. There's simply no there there.
  7. It's pretty fricken awesome. I had no idea how long I'd wait for a third. I think I thought it was commonplace at the time (You can't blame me, because by 1983 I was 15 years old and had been to 2 Cup parades, a WS paraade, an NBA Parade, and the 2 Finals runner ups, a World Series runner up and 3 NBA finals runner-ups. By 1987 and graduating high school, there were 2 more trips to the NHL finals. I'll tell ya what. I slept a lot better back then!
  8. This is certainly true. I hope you're right.
  9. Interesting the things you don't consider until you read it on a hockey board. Interesting points, mojo!
  10. Yes, but I think it was literally the decision itself and maybe the trip. Not what was done or not done once he was there. We'll need to agree to disagree, but I think Lappy has been entirely worthless from the moment he retired as a player. Like many others in Flyer management.
  11. Cool. "Hey, the chef can't cook worth ####. In fact, it tastes exactly like that. But be grateful he's able to get it to your table and you even get a spoon for what's supposed to be steak."
  12. Yeah, and honestly, for every Cam York or Desaulniers, there are a lot of players whose wheels come off in Lehigh under Lappy. If they clean out, I send Lappy with them. At 15th of 32 in the league and 7th of 15 in the conference, Lehigh is mid-pack at best. They have games in hand on the teams in front of and behind them. Desnoyers may or may not be an NHL player, but I'd argue he overcame Lappy; not that he was helped by him. And I do not agree that Cam York turned his career around there. He was very good coming out of Michigan and out of world juniors. He played well with the club last year and inexplicably got left off the opening day roster because he was among 18 players who phoned in pre-season. He overcame Lappy. He didn't have his career turned around there.
  13. By the rules of the day, this was not a kick. You can obfuscate with other subjects all you want, but a kick is a kick and there's no kick there. Facts are facts. This is why it was such a quick overrule. There's simply no kick. There's no wing flapping, either, in case you think you're seeing that too. You have a tendency to see with emotion rather than eyes. Tarasenko is a bigger threat than Kane depending upon who plays on what line. Whichever plays with Zibby and Kreider will be the bigger threat. I hope you're right and the lines don't change because at the deadline in fantasy I traded for Tarasenko (for a FIFTH round pick!) rather than Kane.
  14. Yeah, there's simply no kicking motion there. It's not remotely about whether he uses the blade or not. There's simply no kick.
  15. Yeah, sorry. That's a good goal. I was cheering for the Sabres, too, but objectively that's a good goal. There's no kicking there. The ref got it wrong, that's why it was overturned.
  16. Are you new to following the Flyers?
  17. Put me in, coach! I'm fully developed! Person, woman, man, camera, TV!
  18. Well, he was signed by Fletcher. It means he's dumber than dog ####
  19. I'll take Vader every day in the week. At least it was vaguely entertaining. Although, if I found out that THIS was Vader it would suddenly make it all hysterical. Need a Lexus?
  20. I don't think the NHL will help Philly. We're from Philly ***** Philly No one likes us, we don't care. But dare to dream
