  1. Nah. On the exterior, he seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm just not as high on PK as PK is himself. Like cornerback Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks, PK has loads of 'imagery' and 'posturing', (i.e., loads of 'bluster'), but sadly, when push comes to shove, there ain't nobody home, and that's exactly what I predict for the Seahawks this weekend against the Broncos. Despite all of his bluster about being the best cornerback in the history of the game, Richard Sherman and his esteemed Seahawks are likely lose this campaign, because its about walking-the-walk, not talking-the-talk.
  2. Doh! Kris Letang has to be one of my all-time favorite, most energetic, most 'make-it-happen' kinda guys to come along in the past 10-15 years. Could these fools be serious?
  3. Nope, afraid I couldn't disagree more! PK isn't worth half that figure in my view. Chris Letang is 10x the player! In fact, its funny you should mention Chris, because personally speaking, I've considered him to be one of the top 5 active players in the entire league, and that's saying something when you're being compared to the likes of Datsyuk, Crosby, Malkin and Kane.
  4. Yeah, you may have a point to some extent. Sanders was indeed athletic, so I'll concede that much, but the incessant 'me-my-mine' showboating (like Mayweather, Subban and a zillion others) is simply toxic. There no place for it in sports, especially 'team sports', and especially when you can't back-up that mouth, or worse, when you're ducking legitimate contenders like Mayweather has with Manny Pacquiao. At that point, you start lookin' both foolish and pathetic.
  5. What's PK Subban worth? Well, given his incessant, but entirely unnecessary antics in front of the camera and press, including his overly flashy, almost arrogant, but bumbling display of pre-game puck handling just before their 6:1 defeat to Ottawa tonight in Game 3 of the quarters, I'd say he's worth about a 'sawbuck'! PK reminds of boxer Floyd Mayweather or ex-NFL star Dion Sanders - very little substance, but lotsa lip-service and hype. The Senators dispatched PK and the Habs tonight, in the very same way that Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera dispatched loudmouthed English boxer Prince Naseem Hamed back in April of '01, and in the same fashion that boxer Manny Pacquiao can (and would) dispatch with blustery motor-mouth Floyd Mayweather. Talk is cheap - you gots-ta walk the walk ;-)
  6. Not to be argumentative, but I would suggest that this thread should probably have been entitled . . . "Ranking The Top 10 Players (of THIS year)", because otherwise, some of us might think you meant the top-10 players of all-time, in which case, none of the names of the current players listed here (other than perhaps Crosby and Datsyuk), are likely to have even appeared on the list.
  7. Wow! This is kinda like asking everyone who their favorite musician is, or what their favorite song is, but for me personally, at age 60 and being a native of Detroit, there can be no doubt. In his youth, my eldest son (now 34) admired and wanted to emulate Steve Yzerman, but Yzerman and I, and a veritable legion of others across North America were raised in awe of the incomparable Gordie Howe. And frankly, given his own incredible performance over the years, one could almost include Stevie Y's name in this same discussion. However, as an aging, opinionated old man, I find little comparisons to be drawn between Gretsky or Lemieux, and the likes of a Gordie Howe, and that's not to say that I don't respect and deeply admire the skills of those first two gentlemen. Yes, they were natural goal-scorers and record-breakers, but Gordie was more than that - Gordie was an 'old school' (full-service) hockey player. For me, trying to compare or "rank" them, is like trying to compare Pavel Bure with Brendan Shanahan or Steven Stamkos with Peter Forsberg. Its a complete disconnect - there's no meaningful comparisons to be made.
