Game 54: Flyers at Capitals; 5/7/21 @ 7, NBCSP

Recommended Posts

Greetings:

The bookies make us heavy underdogs:

https://www.vegasinsider.com/nhl/story/2021/05/07/philadelphia-flyers-vs-washington-capitals-predictions/

On the plus side, Cam York will make his NHL debut, paired with Sam Morin in the third slot.  On the down side, Tom Wilson's presence could be ugly and I worry nobody on our squad will stand up to him.  Sandstrom has been called up to the Taxi Squad with an outside chance of playtime.

Late getting here today.

Has Wilson cheap shotted anyone yet?

How many turnovers does Jake have?

#IHATEJAKE 🤬™️

So far a very good up ice rush by York and a huge hit by Morin. Now we just need to crack Wilson’s skull.

Great goal by Allison , I want to see Allison and Farabee on a line together next year , the question is who will be the center? Maybe we can have a dominant line for a change. Allison belongs on the PP next year.

I need a York report. Anyone??

York had a great rush into the offensive zone, you can clearly see his skating and puck handling ability. He has made a couple of smart plays, which is something our defenseman are not known for. He looks good. Allison had a great snipers goal, picked the top corner from a tough angle.

He's looked terrific.  Really smart, calm, fluid   Good game for him so far.  At about the 28 minute mark, he had over 11 minutes if ice time, so they're not hiding him.

Cam did not look out of place out there.

I'm really excited about this kid. I really liked the pick but was really impressed at the world cup.

I wonder if he ultimately will make Provorov expendable. I know that's cart before horse and it's early, but it's crossed my mind.

Remember ( and you may already) he was part of passing on Caulfield.

And once Brink arrives I guess we'll be able to see if it was a good trade.

Looking back at the Schenn trade we will hopefully soon see the true results of once Frost gets his shot.

I already like it.

Schenn will be 30 next year.

He put up 14 goals 33 points this year.

21 year old Joel has 18 goals for 36 points.

Now it isn't lost on me that the Blues won a Cup out of this so the only way to justify any of it in my mind is if Farabee, Frost, York and Brink help bring Lord Stanley to Philly soon.

Otherwise it is just swapping of good pieces.

I hope Frost can come in and lock down the 3rd or 4th line center spot.

Brink I would expect to sign his entry level contract after next year's college season.

Getting better slowly.

Now just remove the dead weight.

Isnt it a bit premature to decide whos doing what next season?

I hope we havent anointed Farabee or Allison the next captain

No I don't especially after watching these bums play all season.

In my mind these two are locks for next years roster.

Easy peasy.

Remove some of the dead weight and they fit nicely.

The only they don't make it is they come into next year and sh it the bed.

Which I'm confident won't be happening.

And if I am wrong feel free to remind me.

I don’t think he would make Provorov expendable, Provy is about the only defensive dman we have . If Provy had a good veteran partner, his game would be much better.York might make Sanheim expendable eventually. Since York is on a rookie contract,we don’t have to move any of our top dman at this point . York makes Ghost expendable and Morin makes Haag expendable. Then all we need is a good veteran to put with Provorov.
