Minnesota Wild @ Boston Bruins, Thursday 1-6-22, 6:00pm, TD Garden

I just looked through the final game's stats. We placed 30 shots vs their 38. Kahkonen stopped 36 shots. Their main key players placed lots of shots. Bergeron 7; Marchand 6; Pastrnak 6. From our side the most shots made Boldy 4 and Hartman 4.

Much needed win, and on the road too. Now let’s hope the collateral damage (Kaprizov) isn’t too bad. Not sure this team can take much more.

Anyone have any details on Nick B’s injury? Sounded freakish…..

It sounded pretty stupid as Russo said that Zuccarello slashed Nick B towards the end of the scrimmage.

I missed this one because of course coaching my team. Just saw the cheap shot The Thrill. Such a dangerous hit. He was already going down. No need for that ********. Suspension worthy? Doubtful but a fine I could see. Anyhoo hell of a win. Needed that one for sure

A hell of a win like Jimtown guy said. Boldy looking very, very good indeed. Rossi promising.

But that injuring of Kap. They made Frederic bear the responsibility, but what was the message sent to Cassidy? Or the other teams' coaches? What stops them from solving any playoffs series against the Wild by sending a monkey on skates to take out our best player? They should have been running over Swayman or Pastrnak or Marchand until they had an injured star player too.

The refs were very good in this game. Still they were helpless against Frederic/Cassidy. We can't win any playoffs series if we don't use the ways of making Kaprizov, the goalie and Brodin untouchable. It has to be Cassidy who warns the Frederics of his team not to take out Wild players. And the only way the Cassidys of this league or any other will do that, is the knowledge the Wild's retribution will be equal to any harm done to the Wild.

100% agree. Coach is also responsible to this dirty type of his players play. And we knew that Bruins is always playing very agressively. We should sent a message to them right at the beginning of this game but not after injury is happened. Kulikov tried to fight right after Kaprizov injury, but that was not enough. Foligno took care of Frederic only at the beginning of the 3rd period who calmed down after that. This should be done during the 1st period. Players like Frederic needs to teach through fighting or through the suspension or fine.

Overall we played very competitive against this team entire 60 minutes including offense, defense, goaltending.

Yeah, Kulikov got pounded by Frederic so Foligno got to take care of business and clearly won his fight against Frederic.

Here is more from Russo twit regarding that extreme sadness:

"Frederic, who has been going after Kaprizov all game, just checked him hard and he's hurt. Kulikov and Hartman go after Frederic and and Frederic and Kulikov drop the gloves. Looks like shoulder crunched boards for Kaprizov."

"Kulikov felt it was a dirty hit on Kaprizov, that Frederic knew he had him in a vulnerable position".

"Kaprizov cradling right arm as he went down the tunnel. This team cannot catch a break. It's just remarkable what's happened to them of late."

"Foligno and Frederic drop the gloves stemming from the check on Kaprizov. Frederic high-sticked him first and he gets his third minor of the game."

Dean Evason on Trent Frederic’s check that injured #mnwild star Kirill Kaprizov:

Will we actually find out the extent of Kap's injury or do we get the "UBI" and the vague timeline for return.

The league claims to want to crack down on these types of hits but all that happened was a paultry 'minor' penalty in the game.
After review the league needs to make some heavy penalties on teams to really have an impact on lessening these from happening in thhe future.
Imo, A much longer suspension (depending on severity) that could really disrupt a teams line up and of course No Pay for that player during that time.

Boldy, EEK, Granlund, Kap.....and Mayhew(?) scored in first game in Wild history

That info also taken from Russo twits with his personal correction about Boldy's 1st NHL goal :

"Correx: 10th in #mnwild history. Add Gerry Mayhew. We regret the error

Quote Tweet

Michael Russo

@RussoHockey

To be clear, 9th player in #mnwild history to score in his NHL debut Gaborik, Dupuis, Wallin, McMillan, Chad Rau, Granlund, Eriksson Ek, Kaprizov".

It seems Brodin also received an injury during this game. Wow. That will be a toughest loss for the team too.

Here is an update  on team's injuries and protocols from hockeywilderness.com :

Definitely one of the better games I've watched all season...  Some ass puckering with the onslaught during the final 30 seconds - wow...

Since the 10-minute highlight video above mentioned nothing about the penalty on Kirill:

This video nails it perfect...no need for that hit, 100 avoidable, and Frederic should have played the puck.

I'd be surprised if he's not gone for at least a game or 2

Completely agree, 100% avoidable, Frederic was intentionally going to shock the player. He was not looking for the puck at all. Superb video perfectly showing all stages of the trauma. I would be willing his suspension for at least 3 games. It does not matter 1st or not the 1st time he did this play. Play was dirty and must be punished. Otherwise he will not understand what he did and be smiling every time after the fights like he did yesterday. He even was smiling after the fight with Foligno. Willing the Wild will apply for his  suspension. I was surprised too that highlights of this game did not mentioned at all about Kaprizov's injury.

Tomorrow we are going to play a home game against Capitals. With all these injuries, hope that our youngsters (Boldy, Rossi, Dewar, Addison) will be able to step up more. Last game I liked their play a lot. And then next game we will have only on Friday. Maybe by that time we will see more healthy players. Sincerely, I do not remember so many injuries for the team in a short period of time like we are dealing now.
