The Flyers players were separated into four groups, lettered A through D. They skated 15 minutes of laps with a rope between the nets to prevent anyone from taking a shortcut in front. After a brief respite, they spent the rest of the session skating goal-line to goal-line suicides, four players at a time.

Too bad conditioning doesn't suddenly take lazy out of a player's game.  And, sweating doesn't suddenly turn hands into skillful goal scorers.

Sadly, you can't be more correct in that statement.  I don't like JVR and Torts can condition him all he wants, but JVR will never change his game.  OK the use of never may be a bit strong, but the odds of JVR becoming a responsible NHL player is very slim ......  just IMHO.

JVR doesn't have to change his game, Torts will change it for him. He either plays better, or will be the highest paid janitor in Philly

If they made a Netflix miniseries out of this, I would watch it

Not a "Netflix" series.  But, the team's propaganda department is at it's finest in making this "The Standard" series.  Doesn't even take 1 minute before you hear the butt kissing that Tortorella is giving to Fletcher.  The same butt kissing that's being given to Scott, Holmgren, Lombardi and Flahr as well, because he realizes they are calling the shots and he'll be fired as soon as his butt kissing decides to stop.  And, hilariously, not even 2 minutes in for Tortorella to plead for the players to be honest with him, while he's standing there lying to them all, knowing very well that Fletcher is still running the show as to who will play, who won't play, how much ice time certain players must get, and what veterans continue to be dressed in lineups night after night.  Unfortunately as a Flyers fan, that's "The Standard" of this current organization.  Just lie after lie after lie after lie.  Absolutely hate it.  But, it is the unfortunate reality of where this organization currently exists.

Both players that need to clear waivers are probably just career AHLers.

Two big pluses to Ratcliffe's game were his strength and his hands.  Neither of those show up in his game, even at the AHL level.  The collapsed lung didn't help him at all.  But, even with that setback, he should be a better player than he currently is.  And, Lappy coaching him certainly isn't helping in any way.  He only appears to be an absolute bust of a 2nd round pick.  He's a very inconsistent player, and it doesn't appear that he'll ever live up to the player he was at the OHL level.

Sandin appears to be just a bottom six AHL player, at best.  A very timid, big bodied player that really doesn't have much in his hands and often disappears in AHL games.

Both will probably clear waivers.  But, if either is claimed, it's not a huge loss in either case.
