Greetings:

The O and B are underdogs (+170) and it looks like Hart versus Bobo.

This is an interesting benchmark game.  We lost to the Panther 4-3 last week.  We might have Risto back and Tippett back in the lineup, with 11 forwards and 7 D-men.  We haven't played well against these folks lately, having lost four straight, and haven't beaten them since 2020:

Weird. The Isles extended him in the summer, I wonder what the story is here? You just give up on a top 20 pick?

Beats me too I have been searching and all I can tell is Lou was doing for cap reason and was thinking he wouldn't get claimed and got burned.

Wonder who spot he steals?

But will Torts like him.

Lol, unlikely. He seems a bit of a Phil Kessel type if you know what I mean? Still kinda has the baby fat. He's listed at 6'1" 195 on the NHL site. To me, that's heavy for today's game. But what do I know. Anyway, Hazy will straighten him out, get him on the VO₂ max machine.

Well at least 2 spots won't be filled anytime soon with Couturier and Atkinson nowhere near ready to return.

Couturier is off the ice as of today, not skating and not progressing in his "recovery." When he finally gets the surgery they said he didn't need then he'll be in recovery.

Same with Atkinson - Tortorella said he's "one frustrated young man."

So Bellows should get a good long look right away.

There should be a Nuremberg-type trial for the Flyers medical staff and regime. Jesus.

I get that Torts is no spring chicken, but Atkinson is 33 which is hardly a "young man" in this game.

And the Couturier "news" - another case of "doesn't need surgery, recovery trending ahead of schedule" turning into "not ready to return."

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

The story is he's incapable of playing hockey at a professional level.  AHL or NHL.  This wasn't a move "Lou was doing for cap reason and was thinking he wouldn't get claimed and got burned".  Lol.  A ridiculous comment.  This is a move by Lou hoping a team with incompetent management like Fletcher would take this absolute bust of a first round pick off their roster for good.

Yeah, well you may be right. I think it's too soon to conclude  definatively that he can't be a good pro, and it's not so much "awful" as one dimensional. Maybe he's not coachable. By anyone, much less Torts. But we don't know for sure. I guess we will find out soon enough. I don't have a problem with the gamble, notwithstanding low expectations and all.

Flyers getting owned again all over the ice - but it's 2-2 - a couple heads-up plays by Konecny and Farabee, 2 good finishes by DeAngleo and Laughton. Hart is getting a lot of work - game could be out of reach already - but both goals were bad goals.

Flyers looking too much like last year's Flyers in their own end with the turnovers and Keystone Cops imitation.

No.  He was awful, at Boston.  Awful at Bridgeport.  And awful on the Isles.  One dimensional means he provided something in his game.  Bellows is a bust at the pro level.  Nothing too soon to conclude about that.

These soft goals by Hart must stop.  Two terrible goals given up that both fall to poor technique.  Which points to poor teaching.

Eric Staal showing he can still win faceoffs.  Seems to be about all he's good for as he's been pretty invisible otherwise.  Of course, it's against the worst team in the league in faceoff %, and you don't need to move your feet when taking draws.

Well, the team is showing its resilience. I am pleasantly surprised. Can they continue opportunistic scoring? The Panthers have the territorial edge.

Panthers doing things out there that continually leave the door open for the Flyers to either counter or create.

Florida will simply have to clean those things up (bad decision making with the puck, not locking down the defensive zone, etc) if they want to be serious contenders, and Philadelphia shouldn't expect the better teams to always provide them with those avenues either.

That said, I will give the Flyers credit on the fact that they ARE taking advantage of what is given them....for the most part anyways.
Over the last three seasons or so, as you know, that couldn't be said about the team.
Other teams could sleepwalk right through them and Philly would be none the wiser.

At least this year's group look like the type that if you are gonna "eff off" on assignments like Florida has done here and there, then they will do all they can to take advantage of it.
That alone is progress for the Flyers.
