NYR acquire Tarasenko from St. Louis

Great add for the NYR. I watched the game last night, they were listless and I like miller but he has no business with as much power play time. Also their depth is dreadful, he gives them three legit tough lines.

According to seravelli it is two picks, as prospect and Sammy blais. Blais is a mediocre 4th line body who is obviously in the deal to make the money work. Wow. Rags keep the kid line intact. Kravtsov might be the prospect going the other way

TO NYR

Vladimir Tarasekno and Defensemen Niko Mikkola

To St. Louis

Sammy Blais, Hunter Skinner (prospect) and a 2023 1st rnd pick

Blues retain 40 % of Tarasenko's cap hit.

If that is all, the rangers just won the lottery. Wow. Skinner is slow and cannot skate and even demoted to the echl. The rangers are loaded with young kids and they kept them all? Wow.

Sooooo...... the BIG question.

What line does he play on?  I would make the assumption he goes on the 1st with Zibby and Panarin. The BIGGER question is who does he bump off PP1?  (Zibby / Trocheck / Panarin / Kreider / Fox)  Does Tarasenk bump either Trocheck or Kreider off PP1?

2nd line for Rangers now look like LaFrenchy / Chytil / Kakko

Or does Tarasenko go on PP2 with LaFrench / Chytil / Kakko / Trouba.

In his prime from 2014-19, there were few better goal scorers in the NHL than Tarasenko.  Since his injury and surgery he's still a productive forward. His points per minute this year grade as an upper-end second-liner, and that was with a shot-rate crash. If he can add some more shots to his profile, he can easily produce at a first-line rate.

All told, it’s a good move for Tarasenko. It gives him a better scoring environment, better line mates, and all that should help his shooting (and shooting percentage) rebound. At worst, the Rangers got an offense-only 25-goal winger. At best, they may have gotten a game-breaker if Tarasenko can really create magic with the likes of Zibanejad and Panarin.

Consider this a win for the Rangers .......

UPDATE:

along with the 2 mentioned players ....

a conditional 2023 first-round pick

a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick.

Blues will also be retaining 50% of Tarasenko's $7.5 million salary cap hit.

So the shrewd negotiator at work:

OK, guys, I'll take the lower of the two firsts, but if you guys make the playoffs I want next year's 4th to be a 3rd - victory! Here's $1.4M.

Dallas' first could not unreasonably be bottom five.

If that's the market for Tarasenko, we take you now to the booming market for JVR...

It's not official yet, he's in the process of waiving his NTC and the Blues are retaining some salary...

I am hoping this makes the Devils feel the need to add a JVR before the deadline. Not sure for what is return.

Damn...the Rangers only had to give up a first and a fourth, Blais and Skinner, AND they got Tarasenko. Not only that, they got the Blues to pay half of Tarasenko's salary. On top of that, the Rangers got Mikkola. too. Really impressive trade by them.

Say it ain’t so!  Hockey Guy, who I am now fed up with, has reported this.  But he says Sammy Blais goes to Blues?  Blais was a Blue on their Cup team?  I have to research this

Yes it’s true.  Stupid ass Blues just made Rangers major contenders
