Game 55: Philadelphia Flyers at Toronto Maple Leafs; 2/15/24 @ 7 PM, NBCSP

Recommended Posts

Greetings:

Toronto is favored (-185); despite the Flyers having a better overall record (perhaps reflecting a tougher Atlantic Division).  The bookies may consider that we are on a six-game losing streak against them, and a 1-5 streak in Toronto:

Toronto thumps us on faceoffs, the PP, and offense:

It's interesting that we're through a good chunk of the season and haven't played the first of three games in the series.  This is a good test against a team that has given us a lot of problems in recent years, particularly in their house.  We better not open the game with dumb penalties, per Arizona.  It might be nice if we scored on the PP.

Shirley you jest…

But just as welcome … Sanheim with another Power Kill shorty. Flyers lead the league with 13…

Wow the TOR PP left Sanheim completely alone the whole side of the ice was just Sanheim and Samsonov. 1-0 Flyers early. Nice!

Not only do 3 of them converge on the 1 Flyer...they lose possession? LMAO

Nice play by TK..almost a goal on the two on one. Of course, they don't get that one, and Matthews buries the one-timer short side. The Flyers need to spend more time in their offensive zone, and stop giving the Leafs as much room to skate.

we have to get bigger at the forwards position, there's too many small forwards that's why matthews is able to get by us so easy.

Yeah, and then you have to worry about Matthews speed. He isn't exactly Pavel Bure, but he isn't slow.

Pardon me saying it for the hundredth time - 3-on-3 OT is a stupidass way to decide an NHL game. Toronto skated back to center ice 4 times. Just stupid. Flyers never touched the puck the entire OT.

Flyers showed some real strong character not letting Matthews have the last word tonight. Would’ve been easy to say “too good,” take the loss and move on to the stadium game.

That late line change came at an inopportune time, allowed the Leafs to gather momentum into the Flyers zone, leading to the winner.

Yeah...3 on 3 is stupid.
