When you have one, you don't trade him to anyone, why would the flyers be any different.

Also, the way the RFA system works it's very hard to get a d man on that level who isn't under a big long term contract, so trade really is the only way to get him until he is past prime

We have been trading for defense for 30 years...we seem to have alot of inuries on defense, and we never draft enough good defenseman... or we draft some decent ones and trade them too quickly

A list around the league of defencemen who've been traded and are Howes equivalent since we traded for him would number about 5
