Wow that didnt take long.

Toronto has been rumored to be ISO a middle six winger, have traded Yegor Korshkov and AHL defender David Warsofsky to the Hurricanes for Galchenyuk. Seven teams in three years. Starting to wonder which sweater he will wear for his HOF ceremony.

Well, if the Leafs do somehow, someway, by some long shot MIRACLE, happen to win the Cup this year, with Galchenyuk on it, he likely wears the blue n white leaf....even if he was only on the team for 10 minutes :bigteeth:

That, or Galchenyuk might have a shot at getting a show on The Travel Channel.

Now...the question, I think, becomes...
Will Galchenyuk arrive at his new team before the season ends???

I mean...he plays in Ottawa, has to cross the border, has to get quarantined, vaccinated, and spayed before he crosses into the US to Carolina.

NOW, he has to repeat the process (double spayed...ouch) to cross the border AGAIN, to join the Leafs???

Maybe he got lucky and never left Canada! :)

Hmm. Interesting move. We gave up nothing. May have got the same in return.

I remember Galchenyuk being a factor on the Habs a few years ago. He was noticeable then. Not sure why he declined and seemingly vanished right in the prime of his career.

I defended him a lot back in his Montreal days. For Selfish reasons. He was on my fantasy team.

I screamed and hollered at Therrien for playing Plekanec and 5 foot 2 Desharnais  as 1st and 2nd line C. I could not understand why. Desharnais has some kind of dirt on Therrien. He managed to stay on the top power play for like 30 games and he only had 3 PP points to show for it. A ham sandwich could see Galchenyuk with that shot should be there.

once both top C's got injured and Therrien had no choice but to try gally, I was smug as Gally racked up goals. boooooooy did that not last long.

It was a keep 5 and I made a tough decision NOT to keep Galchenyuk. Let's be fair, I had McDavid, Seguin, Tavares, and one of Draisaitl, Ehlers, Galchenyuk and needed to keep one of Cam Talbot or Hellboy. I chose Talbot, which felt like the right choice for a year. Talbot went off a cliff after that year and Hellboy emerged as one of the top 3 goalies in the NHL. My decision to keep Ehlers and trade Draisaitl and Galchenyuk for a draft pick hurts but doesn't at the same time lol

Galchenyuk went off a cliff after his injury. On the other hand, Draisaitl like laps Ehlers in points so that ended up sucking. I don't have ANY of those players except McDavid now and I did manage to get back Hellboy. it just cost me and arm, leg and 1st round pick.

but yeah, take it from a guy who followed Galchenyuk for 3 years after his injury. He ain't coming back. I kept my finger on the pickup trigger every new team he went to. Watching him play is painful. he is useless outside the top 6 and so dreadful defensively they won't put him in the top 6. He was on a team with Malkin and Crosby and they could not get him going. That itself is impressive. Those two could typically get a ham sandwich points.

Up next...
Leafs put Galchenyuk on waivers after finding out he ISN'T a top nine player.....and Columbus picks him up for Tortorella's boot camp...AND another trip across the border.... :shifty:

Nice. One of these days when I get some free time (from making spreadsheets of course lol) maybe I'll join a fantasy league.  :)

What did he injure?  Knee? Head?

I think the Leafs jinxed themselves tonight with the mere news of this acquisition.  :(

I'd consider this his last chance in the NHL. If he can't make it work in Toronto, he's done. I imagine they still see the Galchenyuk from five years ago that used to burn us with the Habs. One last chance for him to be that guy before his career is over.

Lifetime -34 player. That's impressive!  Was -31 for Montreal in 2017-18.

Went from seasons of 56 pts/82, 44 pts/61, and 51 pts/82 (pretty good numbers) to.....  24/59.

1 point in 8 games and -6 for Ottawa this season.

Hey look on the bright side ... pro-rating his stats over 82 games give you 10 pt for a +/- = (-61) :thumbsu:
