  1. Every year I tell myself this is the last year I get center ice. October rolls around and I dish out my $250. Come January I'm telling myself never again. I've become like the Flyers every year. I do the same thing over and over hoping it will change and it never does. I really believe fans need to start talking with their wallets. Including myself. When they start getting crowds like the Panthers it might open some eyes. Until then it will be a vicious cycle of mediocrity. As long as Comcast is making a couple bucks people will pat themselves on the back and line their pockets. Welcome to a corporate owner.
  2. Sorry Provorov is not a number 1 D. Guys Like Hedmen are number 1 D men.
  3. I would take Provorov off that list and add Frost. Provorov has struggled ever since playing Montreal in the playoffs two years ago. D that log his minutes fetch a lot on the market. I think Frost is going to turn out to be a very good player.
  4. Hart: playing Good..not great..still giving up goals where the announcers comment: "He'd like to have that one back" (Why can't WE ever find an Igor Shesterkin?..well actually we did but he plays for Florida...) I'm not sure how many more saves you want out of the kid. Maybe the second goal last night but that was more on Provorov than anything. Kid made a heck a play as well. It's a shooting gallery on Hart and Jones every night. They might have one win if it wasn't for those two. The team has averaged 1.67 goals per game in their last 18. You could have Patrick Roy in net and not win many games with that stat. Sounds like Hart is in the running for Team Canada so he must be doing something right.
  5. You can't trade Giroux till the trade deadline. Your not going to get much this time of year. As far as firing an assistant coach not sure what that would accomplish. You have to clean house if your going to shake things up.
  6. I have always been a die hard Flyers fan but I find this year harder to watch than most. Pretty much every fan can tell the style of play they being asked to play does not fit this teams make up. They could dump the puck into the offensive zone 10 times and maybe get possession 2 times. I will never understand having full possession of the puck and dumping it away hoping to get it back. Count how many times in the offensive zone the Flyers rim the puck but never get the back. It's a quick out. It hard enough to get the puck in the todays NHL not sure why you would want just throw into the corner. Watch the good team's. Not to often they just dump the puck in. It's literally when there's no other play to be made or they have speedy enough forwards to beat the defenseman to the puck. Not sure if a coaching change would do anything with this lineup but it's really all they can do right now. It's hard to change the players during the season in a cap NHL.
  7. I still can't believe when someone runs your best player no one does a thing. Just continue on with the play. Every other team would have jumped the guy.
  8. I don't think changing coaches would matter. Every team just pressures Giroux now and there's not a lot of skill with the other guys to come up with something else. It's so obvious what the plan is and the other teams know it. Kind of sad that there is really no scoring threats on any of their power plays. Keith Yandle should not even be in the line up let alone on the power play. I really hope their not playing him because of some iron man streak.
  9. Coaches rarely get fired when they don't have their full roster. Not that it would matter with this team.
  10. Not one Flyer came in and did a thing. That's your best player. No response. That says a lot about this team right there.
  11. Tim Peel on Twitter: "Ekblad should have received an interference penalty on this play as he completely eliminates the Philadelphia player. And then of course Ekblad is the one to score the OT winner. @DailyFaceoff #Flyers" / Twitter
  12. He's a pretty quick skater. Didn't really stand out. He did what fourth liner suppose to do. Played well defensively. I thought the fourth line was really effective last night. Mcewan was hitting everything in sight. It's nice having guys that bang bodies. It opens up the ice for your top two lines. I wouldn't be surprised if NAK is back in the line up tomorrow night.
  13. He said he felt something in his groin yesterday during their skate. Sounds like the same surgery I had. Six weeks I was back on the ice. Those first two weeks after surgery were pure hell. You don't realize how much you use your abs until a doctor cuts through them.
  14. It's a one year deal on a goalie that was a really good goalie when he had less work load. I would take a guess he's probably going to work his ass off for another pay day. Not like their stuck with him for 4 years. Martin Jones is not going to be the difference between them winning the cup. If he is the Flyers have bigger problems with Hart then we thought.
  15. I've had it on sportsnet all morning and they really never talked much about it. Basically reported it. Not sure what would be funny about it.
  16. There's a few NHL goalie's that train together in Edmonton during the summer.
  17. My guess is it's Holtby. Trains with Hart in the off season. Being bought out by Vancouver today. I hope it's Bernier though. I see Martin Jones is being bought out today as well. Kind of interesting if he can find his old form.
  18. They lost Myers who is 6.5' but plays like he's 5.6' and has some of the worst hockey sense I've seen. The game is to quick for him. There's a reason he went undrafted. As for Patrick. Can anyone actually be mad they got rid of Patrick. The guy plays scared on the ice.
  19. There was two different scouts on the radio this morning up here. Both said don't be surprised if you see some 1st round picks being moved. Because of not playing last year, this years draft is a toss up. A lot of teams feel they can get the player they want in the later rounds. I don't see the first being traded this year as that big of deal. I was actually hoping they were going to move it. Most have Power as being number 1 yet I have seen two other scouting reports that have him ranked low as 7th. That's the type of draft this is. The Flyer's just traded for a former top 10 draft pick with a huge up side. The guy fills a need. Right shot and plays tough. Those guys don't come cheap. The knock on the Flyers D last year was how soft they were. They have filled that need in the last week. Now just think of what Columbus was asking for Jones.
  20. Nope. Sending a 2nd and a 7th for cap space. Flyers get nothing.
  21. Meltzer mentioned it a while ago. As have other beat writers. Usually stuff leaks out to them eventually. I remember hearing it on one of the podcasts as well. I'm to lazy to go searching for it.
  22. Just think. Flyers scouts wanted Hextall to take Makar not Patrick.
  23. Apparently he wasn't very popular in the Flyer's locker room. The Flyers beat writer's touched on this on twitter. He was very arrogant and it really rubbed people the wrong way. I don't think talking crap after he left was his smartest move either. Until you made your mark in the NHL people have long memories.
