  1. @brelic who in their mind (besides Holmgren) would want Hartnell at that price tag?
  2. @bunnyman I remember when my dog was a pup and I got him a McNabb #5 jersey for the 05' Superbowl. Welp, he ate it by half time and the Eagles lost. Good thing Vick wasn't on the team then or the fate or my Mr. Chewbacca may never be known.
  3. @flyercanuck Kuato and George do not appreciate the comments that @flyercanuck made. Man he was the worst. He would just argue just to argue. We could say, wow did you see that goal by Carter and he'd go on about how he drains the team. I honestly do not think that he watched a single game in his life, but would read the comment section and derail any momentum that thread would have. My favorite example was when I posted a question regarding the best punk songs of the 70's. The thread had a lot of juice going and a lot of participation. He chimes in as his normal troll self and turned it into a Lady GaGa love fest. I mean WTF?!?! How do you go from punk rock to Lady GaGa. I swear he was either the biggest @$$hole alive, or the best troll the internet has ever seen.

  6. @TarHeelFlyer exactly regarding Hartnell. My guess is the Flyers would have to ship him out for either: A) some other teams salary nightmare B) Ship him out with a blue chip prospect to get little in return. C) a 1st rounder a blue chip prospect and get a marginal return At this point, believe it or not, it may be cheaper to just keep him.
  7. I had a dream that Voracek was traded to Winterpeg. Not that it has to do with much, but I'd be bummed if that happened. I also predict a win tonight for the Flyers. I hope they do not make the rookie Talbot look like Patrick Roy though.
  8. 1) Not looking at the over 35 clause in the Pronger contract 2) Trading a 1st for Eminger 3) Timonen and his panic contract. I see this was after realizing that he let Carle walk. 4) How he overplayed Bob and could have sent him to the AHL if he knew how to manage his rookie contracts (partial blame on Lavy) 5) Gagne trade to Tampa. Could have gotten more at the time. 6) JvR's contract too soon then trading him to Tronno. 7) Upshal for Carcillo 8) Shelley and his insane contract 9) Offer sheeting Weber when he could have out right traded Shenn and Couturier for him and inked him at a more reasonable figure. 10) Lavy firing should have been last year Honorable mention: Bryzaster, but I feel that may have more to do with Snider
  9. @radoran I think G will eventually wind up on a VLC's wing before the season is over.

    Scott Laughton

@radoran Ok, perhaps I should have worded it the "long term log jam". I suspect two of the centers you mentioned will not be on this roster next fall.
  11. Bertmega

    Scott Laughton

@flyercanuck Agreed with one more year. I personally think Couturier was rushed and probably could have benefited from a year more in the Q or at most with the Phantoms. In any case, with the current log jam at center, another year won't hurt the guy.
  12. This again is a tough question to answer. The system that was in place under Lavy allowed a lot creativity with the puck. Now we have a bunch of guys over thinking the play. It seems like they are always thinking pass, or set up, or even cycling the puck up high to the points. That is great with a fast team, or for a season or two. Now the entire NHL knows there scheme and their defense is slow and stupid. This creates so many turn overs. The problem is Holmgren. He basically took the 2007 Sabres squad made a blueprint and tried to sprinkle a little 2011 Bruins on top. This team just has to be blown up and the right pieces need to come in. Mason right now is my only keeper. The rest can be had if the price is right.
  13. @Polaris922 I do recall you did nail it. Last year he was slipping. but this year he is like Hatcher and Rathje made a love child and his name is Hathje aka Timonen
  14. @krasy not necessarily. Oliver Lauridsen may see the big time. This gives the opportunity to move Gus into Timonen's role. I truly think that Meszaros is in the dog house and probably won't see the light of day until he is playing for another club. Don't forget they still have Gill in the cupboard. Not that he is the savior, but it's something. Timo would be effective as a 3rd pairing. Nothing more. He has nothing left in the tank.
  15. Steve at his favorite biker bar post game
  16. @murraycraven Giroux is a tough nut to crack. I just don't want to see him shipped out to win a cup elsewhere, but I cannot stomach 8 more years of this. Wonder if they'll (Brass) ever learn that giving a budding star the C causes far more distractions than needed.
  17. @Mad Dog When JvR was shipped out for him, I'll admit I was kind of excited. However, after watching the last few games I cannot agree with what you said more. He just seems to stand around and wait for the play to come to him. I really think this team needs a major, major shake up to get their brains working again. Schenn should one of the first players dealt in a package for a real defender.
  18. Gone, put out to the pasture, Old Yeller'd, etc. Timmonen is old and utter dog $hit this year. He will yield nothing. Let his crap contract expire from the pressbox for all I care. Schenn (Luke) is trash. This Tronno recycled pylon is always out of position and looks like skating optional. Coburn has the tools and looks at times like he wants to play, but for some reason just won't put it together Hartnell nuff said. F the locker room the need W's Talbot is the biggest overrated nothing that I have ever witnessed. Lost his grit, has no offensive skill and very bad even at a limited role Read way, way way overrated. Work ethic may be there, but he is a dime a dozen player. Keep Simmonds: when he is on his game he is a bull on ice. He can contribute offensively and can play on any of the top three lines. B. Schenn: He is the only one on this team that can find the back of the net. Voracek: he needs to get his motor running, but I have faith that he'll be fine Giroux: He really needs to produce. Seriously he needs to before this monster contract kicks in. Right now he looks like hammered $hit. Rinaldo: he is full of energy and a great middle weight guy. Adds toughness to the lineup. Couturier: he is actually starting to come around and looks like he may progress into a decent prospect. Mason: Looks good so far and it's been awhile since I said that about a Flyers netminder. The rest the jury is out on in my book, but Giroux could easily move to the later, hit the bricks list.
  19. @ruxpin Lumina sleeps wid da fishes Schenn type Luke needs to go as well. He blows
  20. The best news of the night, or one of the brightspots as we all have been saying, is Kimmo being hurt. He flat out cannot play anymore. Luke Schenn needs to go to. He just stands around and waits for the puck to come to him. Gus looks like a child among men. He was pushed off the puck and manhandled so many times last night it's not even funny. It's a shame that Mason is playing well and they cannot even do **** to put up points. Major shake will happen before next weeks game. L. Schenn should be one of the names that goes out.
  21. 14-3 Pitt. Crosby will throw for 2 touchdowns and Giroux will get a field goal.
  22. He is 29, will command 7+ mm a year (which no matter how you slice it, the Flyers do not have), and he has expressed interest in going to the Wild. Now what exactly is their top scorer going to cost Philly realistically? My guess more in the long run, as in a blue chip prospect (Laughton, Cousins), a roster player that they can plug in his spot (Simmonds or Couturier), and since it's Paul F'n Holmgren there will certainly be a 2nd round pick involved. Way too much in my book. I would do it if they would take salary back as in Hartnell (assuming he waives his NTC/NMC) At the end of the day Buffalo is in the same situation as Philly and they are not going to let their top pending UFA go for nothing. I say make no trade and have these jokers play hockey like they know what they are doing.
  23. @Polaris922 Well the Key to success is you need at least two Flyer cast aways to be successful in winning the cup. My guess the Rangers ink Bryzgalov then Gagne. Plan the parade route lol
  24. so he was cut from an ECHL team and he turned down one NHL offer already. Yeah, he's going to do just fine with the Rangers should they sign him.
