Game 39: Arizona Coyotes at Philadelphia Flyers; 1/5/23 @ 7 PM, NBCSP

Greetings:

These squads are 27 and 28, respectively in the power rankings.  The Flyers are favored (-150).  Arizona is a terrible road team, and the Flyers do well on two days rest:

There isn't much difference between these teams statistically:

We lost 5-4 in the December 11 matchup in the college barn.  Let's see if they shut down Clayton Keller.

Hart to start in goal tonight.   Ersson is the backup as Sandstrom was sent down to the phantoms.

Okay I guess - I hope* - that's good news. The Flyers have a ton of games this month hopefully Ersson gets more than just the tail end of the B2Bs.

*concussions are tricky and the Flyers' med staff doesn't exactly inspire confidence

In the pre-game, Sir Torts gave kudo for his shot blocking and how its builds morale.  He said that Risto's efforts inspired the team--he took two shots and got plastered, then hobbled to the bench and came out and did more.  Shoot....this is how he earns 5 million a year....getting nearly decapitated.

Yep I knew they would be the bad teams like just what they have done.

You can kiss Bedard buh bye.

They'll end up with the 7th or 8th pick.

It just makes it easier for Uncle Buttman to help the Blackhawks.

Uncle Buttman wants Bedard to end up in Arizona!

He's a dumb Viking, so use him as a dumb Viking. He's played well recently, you have to admit that. Keep things simple and structured for him and he might be okay. maybe never worth his contract, but not terrible either.

This was another fun win. Torts has them playing well.

The game against Toronto will be an interesting test.  With the exception of LA, our wins were against cellar dwellers.  Sunday is a much tougher opponent.

Torts' comments about tanking and media bashing are interesting.  He said players aren't paying attention.  My gut says they are.  And the recent play may reflect his coaching, player growth, and player anger against the media.  Maybe they want to disprove the "pundits."
