I once kept a sea slug in my salt water aquarium. My wife (the Leafs fan) named it Buffalo after that logo. Seriously true story.

when I googled it, I put in Buffalo slug logo...and wham, there it was!!

When they first put those uniforms on they were the best team in hockey.

We should make a topic "worst logos / worst jerseys" in NHL history. I have a couple under the hood, like the Mooterus, the Islanders' fisherman or the Anaheim 3rd jersey back in the 2000s.

Go ahead and post it!  It is a great idea.  Besides it helps pass the summer by. :)

And then the season started.

I jest. You are right, they had a great season that year.

I think it's highly possible that I'm the only one in North America who actually liked that one.   Not as much as what came before or after, but I really didn't mind it.

OK Vegas, these intros are sophomoric at best...certainly not up to NHL standards. Drop the *^#☆ing puck already!

I actually enjoyed it. It's very Vegas. Very much Tournament of Kings from the Excalibur. They probably don't need to televise it, but it's probably very cool in the arena.

Well, solid JOB was done by Caps. Just for that dirty hit and evident elbowing into the head by MacNabb for traumatizing Kuznetsov that newbie cinderella team should be punished BADLY.

https://www.si.com/nhl/2018/05/30/evgeny-kuznetsov-injury-updates-capitals-golden-knights

During the 1st game referees were blind on dirty play by Vegas multiple times(as well as one goal on Holtby was a real fake ) and now this team is doing again, by traumatizing the key player Kuznetsov.  I badly hate that part of the game. It seems referees definitely want to see a cinderella as a winner. After this play that team is going to be forever for me as a team of the left overs. Not for 6 years, like FD19372 said, but FOREVER. They were not showing much mostly(of course, not all players) in their teams before, and now they want to prove who they are including by dirty play.   Same happened with the Wild team this playoff season - dirty Jets traumatized during the second game our key player (broken sternum) of Zach Parise who always was a main producer in playoffs for our team, then did a real micro concussion to Eric Staal ,as well as they did a multiple dirty hits (almost to the levels of concussions or broken necks - tell you as a physician ) for Koivu, Ek, Zucker, Granlund, Dumba, Spurgeon(mainly by Big Buff) and after that our team became nothing. And blind referees did not see that at all. It seems cinderella is a more dirty but speedy team, because they beat the dirty Jets and doing same things with Caps. The late Wilson's hit last game (agree was late) on Marchessault was nothing( shoulder to shoulder and head to head from the different positions) in comparison what MacNabb did tonight with Kuznetsov.

Of course , I am not agree at all with a Ruxpin. Very Vegas should do a CASINO, and the real sport HOCKEY is not a theater, but an extremely tough, but the most beautiful SPORT with their traditions and the real old history, which Vegas does not have yet. It is not only my opinion, but the numerous opinions around the world, especially during these playoffs.

Thanks for posting that, somehow missed that save!!  Must have been out of the living room for a few minutes. Just an elite save by an elite goalie. Does not get much better than that. Wicked reflexes, anticipation, and suburb positioning to be in the approximate area also!!

And didn’t allow a rebound in the process. Save of the year no doubt.

What a chance by Vegas there, and save by Holtby. Vegas couldn't Tuch it in the net. Too soon?

Game was over on that play, IMO.   Tuch didn't do anything wrong there. I mean, you want to put that upstairs, but given that it was knuckling, it was pretty good that he got the solid shot that he did.    But when that was stopped, I said to my daughter, "they're not getting the bounces tonight.  Game over."

Great anticipation by Holtby on that.  He was moving across with the puck and almost before.

Yeah, and that's amazing in itself.  The save was incredible, but the lack of rebound was a second incredible thing on its own.

My only trip ever to the old Spectrum, after seeing the Bills and Eagles that same day the Canucks were in town and Pelle Lindbergh played one of if not his last game ever before the tragic crash.  Vancouver wore the road dark browns.  I actually did not mind those.  They are not anywhere close to the worst.  I do not like Montreal's (maybe because I hate them so much).  You do not see green very often so I cannot mock the old North Stars as I liked their unis.  The dumbest thing ever were the California Golden Seals.  No magical season for them.  The former Oakland Seals.  Wearing those white skates.  Unreal.  What an insult.  The Cleveland Barons were about as boring as the Browns.  I think too many teams were going to black uniforms.  There was a study done in psychology about the impact of wearing black and it was likely the reason for many teams trying it.  Like the Golden Knights. trying to psych teams out with that dog and pony show before the game.  Freakin Lame

I didn't think it was only your opinion.  But honestly, I'm never particularly impressed with "the numerous opinions around the world" statements.   All that means is that I think they're wrong too.

the real sport HOCKEY is not a theater

Oh, come on. Of course, it is.  Sure it's sports, but it's also theater. Most of the arenas I've been to have some sort of pregame schmaltz/theater.  A lot of them dim the lights or go to total darkness with "pump up" or ominous music, lasers and or spotlights, pictures on the ice, skating out through a Shark head or similar, bands, goal songs and/or horns, Mollusca or Chordata thrown on the ice, absurdly annoying videos of long-dead women singing God Bless America, country western bands, etc.  Of course it's also theater, and done according to each city's personality and with very few common traditions (we can't even point to the national anthems as a common tradition given Philly substituting with God Bless America).   The opening in Vegas is very much Vegas.  If their fans enjoy it (probably not uniformly--I'm a Flyers fan who cannot stand the above-referenced video, but it continues!), what of it?    Maybe don't televise the whole stinking thing, though, so fans from cities who live their life in sepia don't get upset.

I vaguely enjoyed last night's "show" but only because I've been to the Excalibur for that show and I think it was a shoutout to it.  Even with that, it was a little goofy for my tastes, but the live strings were actually kind of cool.   My complaint with it is my complaint with any big sporting event:  "You listed an 8:00 start.  Can we please start the stinking game before 8:30?!"    The Super Bowls and World Series games, etc., drive me nuts for the same reason.  I'm usually just "get on with the game!"

So, I think given what you said we basically agree on a general level:  "It's a sports event, can we just get on with it?!"  But I'm not calling out Vegas specifically, who is just doing it differently and is showcasing something unique to their town.

Kate Smith ... is that you ?? or just your Force Ghost?

LOL.   That's funny!

You already know my dislike of that.   I think it bothered me early on, but I think that dislike is becoming increasingly shared by numerous opinions around the world.

By the way, I knew the phylum for octopus on my own but had to look it up for catfish.

It turns out that Googling just "catfish" garners some rather bizarre results.

Yes, exactly like that!   I actually knew the urban dictionary meaning, but was unaware of the show (but then again, I'm older than 20 so I rarely watch MTV.  Nowadays, it's not "I want my MTV"  It's "why is MTV on?  I want my remote!").
